Title: Lost Boy

She bit down her lower lip when she witnesses him blinking up his eyes open and started to struggle on top of his bed. She stood up and immediately running down the hall, the hall that is mostly filled up with people that has their sad smile on their face. She couldn’t help but stopping her steps to check whether she was doing the right thing or not. She bit her inner cheek before running to the opposite way from earlier. She ran down the hall and turned her head side to side to find a person that she could ask for help. She balled up her fist and bit down her lower lip harder, she didn’t care if it will leave a scar of her own teeth grazing her own skin. Her eyes widened at the sight of a man whom wearing a white coat.

“Doctor! Doctor!” She panted heavily in front of him, her shoulders trembling as she was feeling afraid about if she came late.

She ran down the corridor, followed with a doctor. She stood up by the door when she could hear a loud yell from inside. She couldn’t help to feel more anxiety filling up her mind. She ran her fingers through her long brown hair, she closed her eyes tightly letting her teardrops rolling down her cheeks. She was too vulnerable to know what happened earlier before she ran down the corridor to get the doctor and soon some nurses come into the room. She couldn’t help but sliding down her body against the door and broke down with her tears kept rolling down.

She sat down behind the round table; she was looking to the outside of the window blankly. She held up her breath and looking to her front when she felt a squeeze on her hand, sighing deeply afterwards. She smiled and nodded her head. A fake smile that has been decorating her tired face for almost this one past month. Her tired face not because she was tired to run along the corridor but because of all those tears that she shed for almost this one past month.

She once believed that everyone has their own pocket of tears below their eyes and it will run out of tears when they keep crying. But, she knew it now that it isn’t true. It was one month already, yet she still can cry for the rest of the night.

“Ji, you need to eat.” A girl whose has her blonde long hair talked to her, squeezing her hand lightly in hers. She look so tired with those eye-bags below her beautiful eyes, the eyes that will show a pure happiness that has a contagious effect at the others.

Eunji shook her head lightly at Bomi then turned her face once again, staring to the window blankly again. It becomes her habit, sitting behind the cafeteria table with a kind of food that she chose when Bomi asked her, but instead of eating she would stare at the window. Her eyes looking to the outside of the window, both of her hands clasped to each other, trying to support the other.

Bomi could only sighed at the sight of her bestfriend right now. It’s been the umpteenth time Bomi saw her staring at something blankly, Eunji wasn’t like this before. Eunji was the happy person that has her magical power within her smiles, she has that magical power to influence everyone’s mood with her smile. She could change everyone’s frown with a smile with her very own. Everyone says only influenza that has a strong contagious characters, but Bomi and everyone else has witnessed that Eunji’s smile has it too.

Now, seeing Eunji without her usual smile, Bomi lost her appetite as well. She put her spoon and chopsticks on the side of her bowl, leaving her hot ramen untouched. She sighed and smiled at Eunji, telling her that she wasn’t alone. Eunji replied with a small smile and took a sip of her mineral water.

It wasn’t indeed a good story to share, but her misery started from the day that accident happened. It was when Eunji asked her boyfriend to pick her up from her office at the midnight, she knew that her boyfriend has some problem with darkness, but her girly side wanted to be a clingy girlfriend and putting aside her independence at the time.

“Pick me up, pleaaaaaseee- pretty please with a cherry on top.” Eunji pleaded with her childish voice ringing in his ear. He couldn’t help but feeling giddy at his girlfriend’ sudden change, he kept wanting her to act like this. Sometimes he wonders why she looks more independent and manly than him. When in facts he is a man, a twenty-four years old man. He promised her to pick up her soon, he ignored his flaw for her. He wanted to see her now and he had promised her earlier in the phone, and he wanted to fulfil it.

Unfortunately, his car crashed with another car, it’s not because of his eyes’ problem but the other driver was pretty drunk when he drove the car.

Tao was in coma for a month, he was sleeping there in the ICU for  a month. At the first week, Eunji couldn’t stop crying and stayed right by his side, she even kept kissing his lips every now and then, thinking that the snow white woke up from her sleeping time due the kiss from her true love. Eunji cried out in sadness when she saw him didn’t move or dodge when she kissed his lips, she even started to think that she is not the one for him. She started to ask her friends to kiss him; some of them were objecting the request because they knew it was like the most stupid thought to believe on the kiss of a true love to wake up someone from a come, some of them were accepting the request because they just have the feeling for him, gladly Bomi was there to prevent that to happen.

Eunji was a big fan of fairy tales, she believed on the story of true love. She is a big fan of those happy ending stories that Disney use for their upcoming movies. Her childish sides making her to be like that and she was happy to have that side of her, preventing her from growing old faster than everyone in her age.

Her misery didn’t stop there, there was another pang that break her down right to the ground. It was when the time she witness him blinking up his eyes open and tremble slightly on top of hospital bed; she ran down the hospital’s corridor, looking for the doctor to check his condition. She was crying hardly at the time when she could finally see him sitting up with his back laid against the bed that raised up with a machine. She ran to him and pulled him to her warm embrace, she hugged him very tightly as if he would leave her side. And that happened.

“Sorry- but who are you?” Tao blinked at her and smiled politely after Eunji loosen up the hug.

At that time, she was falling to the deepest cliff and she knew she couldn’t escape from it. She had bruises and stitches, she didn’t know anymore.

“Come on. We should get going. Today, Tao will be out of the hospital right?” Bomi spoke up and waited for Eunji to reply.

Eunji tilted her chin up and look at Bomi, she nodded her head and immediately stood up. “Hmm, let’s go. I am afraid that he will wait for too long.” Eunji said, smiling at Bomi.

They walked into the hospital room where Tao was hospitalized for the past week after he woke up from his coma. He was ready with his checkered blue polo shirt with his dark blue jeans, his hair combed to the back neatly.
