Chapter 14: Anything? Anything.
The AKZ B*tches
“And did you know that she was also an Alpha. She and my mother were on the same year. They were close, my Dad said. Maybe that’s why I feel close to her.” Krystal shares over dinner. They are on the dining room of the Alpha house.
“I don’t know what to say.” Amber told her. The auction party/engagement dinner has been weeks ago, and still, Krystal talks hardly about anything else. Sure, she loved it that the rough patch between Jessica and Krystal is finally over, but, somehow she feels jealous that Krystal has been hanging out with its sister and their step-mom-to-be more than her own girlfriend.
“You can say anything.” Krystal told her, eating a bite of dinner.
“Well. That is the twenty-eighth time you talked about your step-mom-to-be.” Amber joked, hiding the veggie salad that Krystal serves her every meal on the side of her plate.
“Really? I didn’t realize. I’m sorry.” Krystal straightened up cautiously. She knows she’s being unfair to Amber, but she can’t just contain her excitement. For once in her life, everything is perfect. She has a loving girlfriend. She and her sister are okay. Their Dad is around. And soon enough, they will have a mother. Neh. Stepmother.
“No. Don’t be sorry. I guess, I can listen to a few more praises about her. Like, four more of them.” Amber hugged Krystal.
“Just four?” Krystal raised one eyebrow, teasingly, then leaned to kiss Amber. It was a slow kiss.
“Alright. As much as you want. Anything to make you happy.” Amber blurted when the kiss ended.
“Anything?” Krystal asked mischievously.
“Anything.” Amber remembers the kissing booth and the words Krystal told her then. And knew in her heart that it was true. She will do anything for Krystal’s happiness. Because, you know, she kind of had fallen hard. Balls deep hard.
“Did you know that she liked the necklace you gave me? She thinks it was the same one she wore as an Alpha. I’m glad we already have something in common.” Krystal picked up to where she left off and keeps tattling but Amber was thrown off track, bothered with something she hasn’t told Krystal yet.
No. It wasn’t the same one. When Amber saw the necklace on the auction party, she knew right then that it was her mother’s. The necklace was missing a piece like her mothers, it wasn’t obvious, but you’ll see it if you know where to look.
She played with the necklace when she and her mother were still living together and she accidentally chipped one of the diamonds, and until this day, that piece is still hanging around her wallet.
“By the way, how the hell did you have two million dollars? Did you win a TV game show? Are you a mafia leader or something? Or maybe you’re Bill Gates’ daughter?” Krystal’s voice rung out and Amber snapped back to reality.
“Hmm… that is not impossible.” Amber smiled. “But, the money was in my trust funds.” And that was the first and the last time she will ever use that money. It has always been there, though. And somehow, it never felt right to use it.
“Oh. I feel bad taking this.” Krystal felt for the necklace.
“No. Don’t be.” Amber took Krystal’s hand and entwined it with hers. “Look. After we graduated and got married. You can just work your off for the both of us while I spend my days on the couch, slightly getting on the heavy side, watching reruns of The Fosters. And then maybe ten years later you can clear the money. Fair
