I let out a deep sigh as I put on my blazer on.

I looked at the mirror, making sure if I looked alright. No, it wasn't because I was excited to have a dinner with my soon-will-be-stepdad. I was just too tired to have another fight with my mom, so there I was, sitting awkwardly in front of a stranger which happened to be my mom's fiancée. From the look, I found he was quite familiar. Where did I see him before? 
Other than that, I found nothing special from that man. He wasn't any better from my previous step fathers. Just a typical rich, middle aged man.

"You must be Jin Hye." He opened the conversation. "You really do look like your mom."
I smiledㅡor at least, I tried to smileㅡat him. "No need to platitude. I look like my dad, actually." I replied, ignoring my mom who was throwing a glance at me.
He cleared his throat awkwardly. "Uhm, I didn't meant toㅡ"
"It's okay. My previous step dads said the same thing, just so you know."
"Seo Jin Hye!" My mom scolded.
"I'm telling the truth." I shrugged. "Oh, and it's Yoo Jin Hye."
"It's okay. I understand if she doesn't like me." Actually, I hate you. "So, Jin Hye, I heard you're still on high school, aren't you?"
I nodded carelessly.
"So, my mom and I have talked about this lately." He continued. "We've decided that I'll pick you up everyday after school start from next week."
"I can walk by myself."
"It's usually dangerous if a girl walks home by herselfㅡ"
"There's busway."
"Okay, let's say I'm the one who want to pick you up." He finally said. "What do you think?"
"What if I don't want to be picked up by a stranger?"
"Jin Hye!" My mom exclaimed. "We really need to talk."

I rolled my eyes lazily. She pulled my wrist harshly, and after she made sure no one will hear our conversation, she slapped me in the face. Hard.
"What do you think you're doing?!" She yelled.
I laughed. "Just greeting my fourth step dad. You will get divorce soon anyway, why would be nice to him?"
"Watch your mouth, young lady."
"It's always like that, mom." I hissed. "Not even three months after dad passed away, you got married then got divorce. It was the same on your third marriage, and it's always like that. Do youㅡis marriage is just a game for you?"
"Who do you think I did that for?!" She exclaimed. "Do you think I want to see my daughter without grow up without a father? I did it for you, Jin Hye!"
"NO YOU DIDN'T!" I yelled as my tears started to burst out. "You did it for yourself. Do you ever think about my feeling? About me?"
