16) Session
It's Complicated.Narrator's POV
"hey cuz" Jooyoung said pulling up in front of her "get in"
"hey" she sighed and entered the car
"what's wrong?" he asked
"I'll tell you at home. Jinyoung samchun knows you're with me right?" Chaerin asked. Jooyoung nodded and began to drive to the K-T hotel. Jooyoung knew that there was something bothering Chaerin and he was starting to get worried. After Jooyoung parked the car, the two of them entered the hotel and went up to Chaerin's floor and room.
"what happened?" Jooyoung asked seating himself down on the end of her bed. Chaerin sat at the front and hugged a pillow before spilling to him the events that happened that night.
"Chaerin-ah, choose Daeyong" Jooyoung said
"what?" she asked
"forget Jungho. He'll only hurt you again, like what Daniel did" Jooyong said "Daeyong is the better choice"
"what is your problem with Jungho?" Chaerin asked curiously
"it's nothing you need to know. It's something between me and him" Jooyoung said
"Joojoo-ya. Please" she pleaded "tell me what happened between you and him"
With a sigh, Jooyoung gave in "it was during freshman year. Me and this girl, her name was Seomin, we had a big thing since 8th grade. We made it official during freshman year but about 3 months into our relationship, I found out that she was cheating on me with Jungho. He stole her away from me, my first love. They broke up middle of sophomore year because she was moving to China. I hated him ever since."
"oh" Chaerin said quietly knowing that his reason was valid
"he's a terrible person Rin-ah. Save yourself the trouble and go for a better guy." Jooyoung said bitterly
"but Joojoo-ya. What if-"
"Chaerin, we've only known each other for a couple of months, but I'm the closest thing you have to a brother here in Korea. And if my opinion matters to you, you'd seriously reconsider your feelings for Jungho" Jooyoung said
"Jooyoung-ah, your opinion does matter to me" she tried to ease him "I know that Daeyong is a better guy than Jungho, but what if Jungho is a better guy for me? What if-"
"ask yourself that question again" he said "compare Jungho to Daniel, they're the same"
"I'm not so sure about that" she muttered
"I'm trying to prevent you from getting heartbroken again" Jooyoung said his patience wearing thin. Chaerin noticed his mood and backed down
"okay" Chaerin said quietly
"okay what?" Jooyoung said "what are you saying okay to?"
"I-I'll reconsider my feelings for Jungho" she said
"and?" he crossed his arms
"I'll think about Daeyong more" she said
"good" Jooyoung said "I need to go home now. Umma doesn't want me out after midnight"
Chaerin nodded "arasso. I'll ask to hang out tomorrow with the rest of us"
"night cuz" he said leaving the hotel room.

"unnie!" Yurin beamed running up to Chaerin as her father opened the door
"Jungho's at the neighbor's house, dear" Jungkook said before welcoming her in
"I know ahjussi" Chaerin smiled greeting Yurin with a hug "I'm here for ahjumma"
"oh yes!" Yumi shouted "Chaerin, I'll be out in a second!"
"why are you meeting umma?" Yurin asked
"it's a secret Yurin-ah" Chaerin said gently ruffling her hair. Jungkook gave her a knowing look
"I'll bring you to the room dear. Yurin-ah, stay here oh? appa will be back" Jungkook said and led Chaerin downstairs to the basement. "my wife will be down here in a minute, just sit down on the chair"
"deh" Chaerin nodded and watched him leave. After a few minutes, Yumi entered the room greeting Chaerin with a warm smile
"how are you dear?" she asked
"I'm okay. A little bit tired, homesick, but I'm fine" Chaerin said
"do you know why I called you to have this session?" Yumi asked suddenly getting serious, but still having a calm aura around her
"because of my brother?" she asked and Yumi nodded
"there's something with your brother that's bothering you" Yumi said "and I'm here to help you and to understand what's the problem. How exactly did your brother become blind?"
"um...one day I went to the park with my brother. It-It's sort of a complicated story so to put it in simpler terms, I was angry and left the park. In an attempt to keep up with me, my brother got hit by a car and he went blind" Chaerin said. "every time I look at him, I feel guilty, thinking that he's like this because of me"
"why were you angry?" Yumi asked
"it was someone I knew. We got into a fight" she said vaguely. Yumi tried to read her, knowing there were things she was leaving out.
"how are you planning to relieve your guilt, dear?" Yumi asked
"I want to give my brother his eyesight back. I took it away and now I'm going to give it back" Chaerin said
"and that's why you want to become an optomotrist" Yumi said and Chaerin nodded "but why do you want to become an idol too?"
"I mean I was influenced by my appa and my friends and I guess I really enjoy performing, especially dancing" Chaerin said
"and what about medicine? do you enjoy it?" Yumi asked
"obviously it's not as fun as singing or dancing, but I like learning about the subject. I just know that it will defiintely be harder" Chaerin said
"you're entering college next year dear, where do you plan on going?" Yumi asked
"frankly, I don't know. I've looked up a few schools. There's a really good doctoring school I saw, but there's also a performing school that I liked" Chaerin said "ahjumma, what do you think I should do?"
"I know Jungho is definitely set on becoming an idol and marrying an idol of the Hallyu wave, I know how difficult it could be and how the media is, your reasoning behind why you want to become a doctor is sweet, but it's not the right motive" she said
"deh?" Chaerin asked
"you should only become a doctor if you're really set on helping people, if you only want to do it because of your brother, what if your desire will end after you help him? You seem to enjoy performing like my son so I suggest that you be an idol." Yumi said
"oh" Chaerin responded
"do you understand what I'm saying, Chaerin-ah?" Yumi asked. The girl nodded before standing up
"excuse me ahjumma. I have to leave now, I planned something with my friends later" Chaerin said. Yumi nodded understandingly and let her leave.
"Chaerin?" Jungho asked opening the door to the basement "what are you doing here?"
"I met with your mom" Chaerin said avoiding eye contact with him "I need to go, I'm hanging out with the girls"
"okay" he said a bit confused watching her speed out. Jungho noticed his mom walk up the steps "umma, what happened with...?"
"take good care of her Jungho-ya" Yumi said "from what I noticed, Chaerin is a very strong-willed person. But she is also fragile. Her weak spot is her family. Don't let her hurt Jeon Jungho"
"deh umma" Jungho nodded

Chaerin was surprised that by the time she arrived home, Chanmi and Mei were already there.
"hey Chaerin-ah, why'd you call us in earlier?" Mei asked
"it's about Jungho and Daeyong" Chaerin said getting them two drinks before they decided to relax in her sauna. Chaerin spilled everything to them, hoping that they would understand her better than Jooyoung did.
"so you like Jungho?" Chanmi asked
"I think so" she said
"but you also like Daeyong" Mei said
"yeah" Chaerin answered "Chanmi-ah, what do you think about this?"
"including Jooyoung's part? well Jooyoungie has a right to be mad and think that way, but a lot can happen in what? 2? 3 years? I agree that Jungho is hot af and that Daeyong is sweet like candy, but if you ask me, Jungho is better. At least for you" Chanmi said "if you're with Daeyong, you'll be 90% sure that he won't hurt you, but we'll never know about that remaining 10%. If you're with Jungho, it's more of a 50-50 chance. It's up to you and how you handle yourself with Jungho to decide that better half."
"Mei?" Chaerin asked
"honey, if you ask me. You're more attracted to Jungho" Mei said "you hit it off with Daeyong and now you're telling yourself to like him more, but that part of your heart that's stuck on Jungho is telling you no"
"you may be thinking that Daeyong is perfect for you, but think about it this way too. Are you perfect for Daeyong? Or are you perfect for Jungho?" Chanmi said
"even dance saem said that you're perfect for Jungho." Mei said "the chemistry that you two have when you're dancing is incredible. If only Jooyoung could see it, maybe he'd think twice."
"so you guys are telling me to go for...?"
"go for Jungho" the two of them said
"if you want, you can try it off with Daeyong, but I'm not sure if you want to complicate this situation even more" Chanmi said
"the boys are almost here" Mei said putting her phone away "think about it a little more Chaerin-ah, but remember that to our whole school. You and Jungho are an item already"
