Author's POV

      It was the cold month of December, plants were coated already with frost by the ice shifters and took care of by the earth shifters, and the latent and mechanical students decorated the whole campus with merry atmosphere, from moving dazzling reindeers to flying chimebells . Everyone forgot the awaiting play for the mean time and focused on more exciting things that are all connected with, of course, the Christmas day.

Eager students of Ace Academy were crowding at the lower lobby of the main building, lining up on fours while waiting for their turn to look at the month's schedule posted earlier by the student president (Kris), himself. 

Six rushing footsteps were heard over the noisy crowd. 

" What! This long already?" Baekhyun scowled as he catch his breath, tugging his scarf down. " Now we're going to wait here for freaking thirty minutes!" 

At his right side, a flushed Tao spoke. " Says the person who took me twenty minutes to wake up when I should be taking a bath at that time!" 

"But you took approximately thirty minutes in the bathroom!" 

Behind them, Lay intervened. "Guys guys! Don't add any more cold to the weather, please!" 

" Was that for me?" Xiumin stopped from fixing his coat and asked. 

"Look! There's Suho-hyung!" Luhan called, pointing at the small group circled at the side, backs faced at them. He only saw Suho since the said man was a little left out form the group, grasping at the shoulders of the taller people at his sides. "Come on, Kyunggie let's ask them!" He grasped at the smaller boy's wrist and pulled him. 

When they were behind of one of the taller boys' back (preferably Chanyeol's), Luhan poked the older's side. (Note: Luhan is NOT older than Suho here. Check Foreword) " Hyung! Hyung!" 

Suho looked at his shoulder to acknowledge the person, and slowly smiled as he registered who he was. He stepped back and looked at him. "Oh hey Luhan, Kyungsoo! Have you checked the schedule yet?"

Luhan rested his shoulder around Kyungsoo. "Not yet hyung. We were just about to ask if you have a copy or picture of it or something." 

"Oh that. Apparently, we don't and they are bribing Kai-" Suho pointed at the circle. "- to take a quick picture of it at the front." 

" Does Kris-hyung have a copy? "

"That is the problem." Luhan and Kyungsoo both jumped at the sudden rumble from the taller boy's back beside them. " This guy forgot about it." He patted the shoulder of the other taller at Suho's side. 

There was a hand that pulled the arm down. "That is uncalled for, Chanyeol. There is no reason to blame Kris on this. He was just doing his job. " Suho ordered. He may be a lot smaller than the boy, but his voice could definitely make him topple down.

Chanyeol finally turned around, his head faced on the ground. "Okay sorry, hyung." 

" Apologize to your hyung." 

"Sorry Kris-hyung." He was earned a chuckle and a ruffle on his hair . 

Luhan chuckled at the side. "Cute." 

" Why are you two here? " Suho asked. " Where are your dormmates?"

"They are lining up, hyung." Kyungsoo was the one who answered, beckoning over the four people conversing at themselves. 

At the same time they looked, Lay was turning his head and blinking on the empty space behind him. Miraculously, at the first look, he recognized Luhan and Kyungsoo immediately. They waved over along with Chanyeol and Suho. 

Xiumin followed where Lay was waving at and saw them as well. He pulled the other two towards him and Lay, leaving their spot on the long line. 

Suho jogged up to Lay while the other three continued moving forward. 

"Hey guys! Are you cold?" The fire shifter asked, tumbling towards the newcomers. " I could give some warmth if you need!"

"I could use some, Chanyeol!" The pretty deer chirped and quickly fit himself onto the fire shifter's awaiting arms."Aaaah~ Warm~" 

Another body snuggled at the taller's back. "Waaah it is warm, indeed!" 

" Awww Xiumin and Luhan look so adorable!" Lay exclaimed as they witness two tiny bodies wrapping around the bigger's. "I wanna take a picture!" 

"May I borrow your bonnet, Kris? My hair is frizzling from the cold." 

"Sure." Said male plopped his gray bonnet on his panda-eyed friend. " You may return that tomorrow. If you're really cold." 

"Really? Thanks-"

They both jumped when the small circle behind them moved, resembling a chain reaction slowly opening to give a path.

"ALRIGHT WE GOT IT, HYUNG! NOW WHO WANTS TO- M-MIN?!" 

" Uh hey there, Dae."

As the two other people from the group heard the very familiar voice that is suspectingly not from their dormmates, they also turned around carefully like waddling ducks from knowing smaller bodies close behind them. Minseok and Luhan removed their holds around the fire shifter, leaving soft thanks.The former acknowledging the lightning shifter's questions.

Chanyeol moved to the person standing silently at Lay's side, pulled the smaller frame around his arm, and emitted another wave of heat. The latter squeezed the arm lightly to show his gratitude.

Now they are huddled on a larger circle, teasing the SuLay couple on their silent gestures with their arms wounded around each other's waists like an old couple, before Jongdae has yet to come and steal the spotlight once again. 

"Okay, so according to the schedule- which our very helpful Jonginnie took a picture for us- "

" Unwillingly."

"-we still have approximately an hour and a half to do what we want before the opening ceremony starts. Who has an idea to pass time?"

There were two shows of hands. A long and a short one- both arms only a small distance between. 

" We, fire shifters, have a small booth near our training ground! It's like a cafe or something and has enough given heat to keep the cold out!" Chanyeol offered like a child asking his mom for a balloon. "And there's a bonfire outside of the booth if you just want warmth. How about you Baek?"

The said man's smaller arm retreated, and he smiled. " I was thinking of going back to the dormitory, but I think a cup of warm coffee would be nice."

"Great! I have been craving for some caffeine for a while." Luhan inquired happily. 

" Shall we go?" 

They joined the exiting crowd, going in their own ways. After Luhan and Sehun, being the last two person left, passed by, Chanyeol chuckled. "Thanks, Baek.I know you're freezing right from your right now, yet you agreed on this."

"It's nothing." Baekhyun answered in hushed whisper. " And I would be a statue right here if we don't start walking." 

"You unusually look weak today. Do you want my coat?"

" I do not look weak, Yeol. No, it's alright. "

" Yes you do. How about my scarf instead? I know you're sensitive on your nape."

The smaller sent him judging stares. " Look, can we just go to that bonfire you're telling me? Atleast I am sure the cold won't get there."

" Not until you tell me the truth. Baek, the clinic is nearer in here so I suggest you tell me what you are really feeling right now, Are you feeling fine, Baek?"

" I am feeling fine, Chanyeol. It is just the cold that is making me restless."

"No headache? Nauseous? "

" No. Nothing. Chanyeol-" If serious answers couldn't even bug the taller from asking more questions, then Baekhyun needed to put it more bluntly for him. " I understand. You are worried for me. But if anything happens there, Kai could always tele-"

" And then I will be useless as then? Even for my best friend?"

There was a short silence, no one from the two bothered thinking of the amount of students around and continued trying to read each other's mind. 

"Chanyeol-"

"We should go. They are probably confused right now. Knowing our whereabouts."

"R-right..."

Students at Ace Academy are exceptional. Almost rare that the school itself provides the best protection for them. 

And that aids with  tons of very strict recommendations.

One of it is-

" that we aren't allowed to see our papas and mamas this Christmas. "

" I know, Chen. "

" Have you sent your letters to them? I think I have sent like eight letters."

" That long? You miss them so much, Luhan?"

"Of course. Everyday, hyung."

" How about you, Baek. Are your dad and grandparents doing fine at home?"

" O-oh yeah. They even adopted two puppies.Named them Bacon and Egg. "

" They love breakfast don't they?"

"I guess?"

It was a little cramped around the small booth, outside and inside. There were a lot of people wanting to have a warm belly for the day, so Suho and his friends decided to sit at the ground meter away from the bonfire and talk. Tao and Kris went out to buy doughnuts the former was craving since early morning and promised to meet them at the ceremony later.

They talk in pair, that is. They settled on keeping the peace for sometime, which turned to Lay silently chatting with Suho then Jongdae giving Minseok a good laugh and the cycle went on.

" Good thing this fire keeps us warm even for a cold December. Figuratively and literally."

" I agree with you, Sehun. Fire shifters did a great job."

They would give small talks once in a while then elapsed to a long comfortable silence once again. Sehun knows that Luhan loves gazing at the stars so he gave the other the peace he wanted. 

"Say, Sehun." The deer-eyed boy spoke, still gazing upwards. 

"Hm?" The other boy asked, also not wavering from his gaze at the bonfire. 

" How about I dye your hair red?"

"I don't like red, Lu."

" Blonde then?"

The question succeeded on catching the taller's interest. He faced the other boy who was already looking at him, waiting his answer with a soft smile. 

" I don't know.... I mean- you do know blonde is the color of your hair right?" The taller asked hesitantly.

Luhan gave out a laugh. 

"Yes. Yes, I know Sehun."

" It's been bothering me, Xing."

"What is?"

" Baekhyun and Chanyeol. They are acting a little..."

" Weird?"

" Out of their character."

The engaged couple watched the four people resting on the log from the other side of the bonfire. Minseok was playing with Chen's phone, resting his whole body at the troller's side, with an arm supporting around his shoulder. Chen was talking with Baekhyun, who has a double scarf around him that Suho distinguished with the red patterns was Chanyeol's, and beside the light shifter was Chanyeol himself, on a conversation with his fire shifter buddies. 

Eventhough they weren't looking at each other- Lay and Suho observed- there it was Baekhyun's hand on Chanyeol's thigh which doesn't leave from where it was resting cause everytime it does- Lay and Suho also observed- the fire shifter turns around to look at his bestfriend. 

Baekhyun would only give a smile though, and went back to his conversation with Chen.

"That is odd, indeed."

" Anyway, would you look at our cute little couple, Myeon. " The chinese gestured at Jongin and Kyungsoo sitting far left from them since the seat between them was taken already. They were casually giggling with each other, with Kyungsoo also playfully nudging the other for a funny comment the other says. 

" We were like that before, Yixing. "

" Yeah I know. But there was no one from both of  us who knows how to make a joke though. So it was really awkward between us the first time."

On that afternoon, the gymnasium was jampacked of Ace Academy's whole student population, listening halfway on their student president's short speech. 

" -And one more thing. Even in this cold, Blockers could still penetrate the outdoors so I advise any of you to be cautious everytime you wander around the school's vicinity. That's all. Stay warm, everyone. Thank you. "

They clapped, with the Room A17 buddies cheering and whistling playfully even if separated from each other.

Yes, they were divided according to their ability-type. The elemental types were on the right side part, with Earth shifter near the wall, then the Water, then Wind, then Fire lastly seated near the mechanical-ability types. The special- ability types follow after the mechanical, with the latent ability on the left side near the wall, and the other special ability between. The healing ability students were seated horizontally at the front. 

"That's one hella speech, pres!" Chen yelled earning a sharp tug from his left from Chanyeol, his fire shifter buddy. 

" Ehem. Ehem. Alright settle down, students. So you've heard Mr. Wu's advice. You may enjoy the whole day to do anything you want, but always be cautious, alright? Okay? Okay. You are dismissed, however, do look at the bulletins in the lower lobby for some last minute announcements. Thank you and have a nice day, students."

The closest to the door, Tao, Baekhyun, and Kai, waited at the left wing to the Chemistry department. Kris, Lay, and Luhan appeared after a few moments then the rest of their elemental friends joined after. 

" Sorry guys." Chen spoke in depressing tone. " Mom requested me to come over her office after." 

"That's unfortunate, bro." 

"Yeah... And I need to go right now because everyone knows how strict she is on being punctual and ." His friends actually gave him sympathy smiles as he reluctantly withdraws from the group. " So catch you guys later, alright." They watched Chen's slouched figure retreated until it the right wing of the Office Division. 

" I'm confused." Kyungsoo perked. " Chen-ssi's mother is working here?"

"Yep, Kyungsoo. She is the secretary of the Physical Division. She's under the elemental section so you'll get to see her more." 

From their left, Chanyeol and Sehun snickered. " And you'll get to witness Chen's endless slips and clumsy failed attempts everytime she comes over and watches our trainings.

They have decided and agreed to settle on their dormitories and prepare some hot cocoa and popcorns for a nice movie marathon for a change. 

As Luhan decided to use the Kyungsoo card again, Kai was forced to teleport all of them to Room A17 one by one. He started going on three though when Kyungsoo offered to make a soybean soup to the delight of his friends . 

" my life."

Unfortunately, authornim won't be updating next week TT_TT. 
I will be going to our hometown for Christmas and my laptop won't probably come along in the trip. 

Really sorry guys!
As of now, I am still thinking if I will continue the Christmas theme for the next update of this story or continue the
play part. I don't know really. I'll think of it in the plane. ^^

So for now, this is (maybe) the last chapter for this year, 2014.
