Review:

I just reread this to write the review, and--ugh, not a good idea for my heart. It's amazing what sindubu can do with less than 2500 words. This is a soulmate AU but it's such a refreshing take on an overdone trope. First of all: Jessica and Taeyeon are not soulmates. Second of all, Taeyeon doesn't believe in soulmates. Taeyeon is so...cynical but, deep down inside, vulnerably hopeful. It's a juxtaposition that is so Taeyeon and that sindubu writes so well. I can't recommend this fic enough!


Except:

Jessica reaches out on a whim, touching the soft skin of Taeyeon’s wrist, still clear of a name. She can feel the ticking of a pulse underneath her thumb, see the blue of veins underneath white skin.

Not for the first time, she wonders why it is that soulmates’ names show up at random. It would make sense, in a way, if they appeared the moment two soulmates fell in love together, but there are too many common instances where names show up one day on someone’s wrist and the person has no idea who they are.
