Chapter 34

Mrs. Kim wiped her tears away softly. She couldn’t stop crying for the last two hours since Jaejoong left the house. She sank down onto the edge of the sofa. It was silly, she knew but she really wanted to give her son the bright future that he could possibly have. Sacrificing his bright career & life wasn’t a good choice. It was definitely wrong.

Yes, Jaejoong was stubborn. She knew it. He would do whatever he thought was the best for him but what could she do about it?

She got up & opened the window & then stared out at the rose garden. She wouldn’t think to threat Jaejoong with her own life, not until she heard his stubbornness to sacrifice his life to be with Tiffany. Suddenly, she was transported back to that morning when she had the unforgettable moment in her life more than twenty-eight years ago.

A tremor raced through her body.

Two men in her life. Kim Hyunwoo & Lee Taehyun.

The hurt was still there every time she remembered it. She closed her eyes, trying hard to think wise.

*Flashback*

“Burn that baby!” Lee Taehyun had ordered, the day Jimin had first came to his house.

“It’s not a garbage, Taehyun Oppa. It’s your baby.”

He turned to face her, giving her a crook smile, “Who knows the real father of your baby?”

“It’s you. I swear to god. I have never given myself to anyone except you.” She said desperately. She was in no position to make demands on her first love. However, she was carrying the proof of their passion night on graduation day in high school.

“Listen to me, Ji.” He said, with a phony smile plastered on his face so anyone in his house watching would think he was only whispering sweet nothings in her ear, “Don’t you try to make a mess in my perfect life, you understand?”

She shook her head several times fiercely while staring at him with teary eyes.

“I will continue my study in Singapore. I will be flying there next month but I don’t mind to accompany you to the doctor. We will get rid off it & we can move on with our own lives. I will make an appointment for you. What’s your last name?” He said cold-hearted. He grabbed a pen & a blank piece of paper, waiting for her answer.

Jimin stared at him in disbelief. He was such a bastard! Except of his good looking, he was nothing. What made her fall for him? Because of his flirting skills? ‘Oh, god.’ She muttered, under her breath. How stupid she was!

‘Look at him, Jimin!’ Her mind scolded her. He doesn’t even remember her last name.

“No. It’s not necessary. I can take care of myself.”

He smiled brightly, “Good girl. I’m such an idiot! Talking without thinking, I mean, I know you are a brave girl. Are you sure you don’t want me to help you?”

Swallowing hard, she nodded her head, “Absolutely.”

He grasped her hands, “There’s nothing to be afraid of. You will forget it. Believe me.”

Jimin lowered her head, avoiding him. She had been nervous & scared the day she had found out she was pregnant. Terrified was more accurate word. Terrified & frantic with fear were the exact words. Of course, she could never tell that to her family, never tell it to anyone except to her best friend, Kim Hyunwoo, & he suggested her to see Taehyun & asked him to take responsibility.

Who would expect that Lee Taehyun would say as if it was only garbage?

“You looked so pale, Ji. Are you okay?”

She bit her lips. She had to get out from his house as soon as she could & crossed his name out from her life forever, “I supposed it is.” She said, after a minute, working hard to press down her emotion, “I’m going now.” “Take care, Jimin.” He smiled, showing his perfect teeth.

Without saying goodbye, she walked towards the door & closed it.

She had been crying for the whole day when Hyunwoo came into her room. They were good friends since they were in kindergarten together. He lived next door with his wealthy family. Even though he came from the high-class family, he never looked down on her. He wasn’t as good-looking as Lee Taehyun, she admitted but he had a good heart.

“Ji, your mother said you have been crying since you came back this morning. What’s going on? Did you see Taehyun?”

“Please don’t ever say his name in front of me again.”

Hyunwoo took a seat in front of her. He took in a deep breath.

“He doesn’t want the baby, Hyunwoo Oppa. He wants me to abort it.”

He looked at her softly & shook his head, “Oh god, no. I didn’t expect Taehyun will…”

“Don’t ever mention his name again. Didn’t you hear me?”

He peered at the lovely eyes he adored & found they were swollen because of the heavy tears. His heart was hurting. Even though he knew Jimin didn’t look at him beyond friends, deep in his heart, Kim Hyunwoo longed to have her as his lover.

“Ji.” He called, her name gently, “Don't cry please. I do have something to confess. I know it will ruin our friendship; therefore, I don’t dare to say it to you. I hope you won’t get angry.”

She lifted her face up, staring at him behind her tears.

Kim Hyunwoo hesitated, “I know it’s not the right time to talk about it. You are in deep stress & I don’t want to give you more than you can take. I always care about you, don’t you know that?” His voice turned husky.

She started to sob. She looked at him wordlessly.

He watched the relief & pain in her eyes. He got up, raking his hand through his hair, “I had better go.” “Hyunwoo Oppa, don’t leave me please.” She suddenly grasped his hand tightly, “Stay with me please? Give me your wisdom words as you always do when I’m sad. I need you to stay awake in sanity.” She whispered, looking up at him.

He took her other hand, moving closer & pulled her into a standing position. She gasped as his hand closed around her wrist.

“Am I a special person in your life?”

His voice was low & rough. Jimin felt as if she could hardly breathe. Her eyes widened in surprises. Her thoughts flew back to when she was in primary school being bullied by other kids. She was eight & came from a poor family. When Christmas came, every kid in the school wore a new dress except for her. She wore her old dress & everybody in the class laughed at her when the zipper broken except for Hyunwoo. He came to rescue her in front of the class & made every kid in the class listen to him. Since then, he became her best friend, her savior until she met & fell in love with Lee Taehyun. Taehyun was the most popular student in their high school. Good looking, a basketball athlete & a fashionable boy, Lee Taehyun had stolen her heart for the first time. She didn’t realize it when Kim Hyunwoo slowly backed away from her with a broken heart but now? Hyunwoo seemed to be the only person she got in her life to help her now. Since Jimin believed Taehyun was just one of the scoundrel who came into her life & ruined it. She burned with shame & rage at her naive willingness to give herself to him
