Chapter 16

France was bathed in beauty. The great, magnificent, majestic, tall buildings glowed in the evening lights, their reflections shimmering in the water of the sea. Tiffany looked at the outside view from the taxi window with big admiration.

“I can’t believe I’m in France right now.” She said, without taking her eyes off of the magnificent view.

“It’s only a beginning. I’ll show you more beautiful places to go & see. I promise you.”

“Really? I hope you keep your promises.”

“I will.” He said seriously. He was about to open his mouth to utter another word when he saw a cafe at the left side of the bridge, “Excuse me, could you please stop here?” He said, to the taxi driver.

“Why are we stopping here, Jae Oppa?”

“I need some coffee. Come on, this place has a beautiful view of the sea.” He said, taking her hand gently.

He watched as she hopped out of the taxi. When his eyes met hers, he saw a smile lighting the beauty of her face. She was twenty-four, three years younger than him but she looked about twenty.

When their heads crashed into each other accidentally, he could smell her perfume. He held her waist tightly from the back & inhaled the vanilla scent from her body.

“Fany, have you changed your perfume?” He asked, as he pulled back from her.

She chuckled, “I used my old perfume that my friend bought me a few years ago & I thought I’d better used it before it expired.” Tiffany said, taking off her asos classic trench black coat & sat down on the opposite of him, “Why did you ask?” She asked, with a smile, waiting for what he would say.

She looked fabulous under the candlelights. Her skin glowed with health; her wide beautiful eyes sparkled with joy, “Um...nothing, just curious.” He said, & put up a hand to catch the waitress’s attention.

The waitress came over & asked his order politely.

“What would you like, Fany?”

“Caramel honey nut latte please.”

“Okay. One caramel honey nut latte for her & one coffee for me please.”

The waitress took their order & wrote it down on the small paper, “Anything else, sir?”

Jaejoong raised his eyebrows to Tiffany, asking whether she wanted anything else beside the latte.

She shook her head gently, “I’ve just had my dinner. My stomach is still full. Thank you anyway.”

“How about a strawberry tart?”

“No, Oppa. You have ruined my diet when we had a heavy dinner just now.” She laughed.

“Okay. Okay.” He grinned, “Just one strawberry tart for me please, thanks.” He said, giving back the menu list to the waitress.

“Thank you, sir.”

Tiffany suddenly noticed the woman at the next table was staring at Jaejoong, open admiration in her eyes. Jaejoong was extremely handsome tonight, she agreed as she looked back at him secretly. He had a fabulous physique & he looked every inch the successful lawyer that he was. His face was clean & fresh after he shaved it this afternoon. The cut of his clothes was stylish, even though he wore his casual clothes. She felt a sudden dart of pride that he was her partner tonight. She smiled.

“What are you smiling at? Is there something wrong on my face?” Jaejoong asked, touching his cheeks.

She blushed suddenly. She had been thinking of him again, “Nothing.” She murmured evasively, but Jaejoong didn’t believe a word of it.

“You’re lying. Why is your face turning red if it's nothing?”

Tiffany didn’t answer as the waitress brought them their coffee & latte. She took her latte & sipped it carefully.

He watched her with a smile, “You haven’t answered my question.”

“What question?”

“Tiffany. I think we both know that…”

“Anyway.” She interrupted him, “This latte is really good. How about yours?”

He met her eyes across the table & then smiled. He drank his coffee & nodded his head, “This is a fabulous coffee, too.”

There was a moment of silence as they enjoyed their drinks.

Taking in a big deep breath, Jaejoong stared at her tenderly, “May I ask you something?”

She met the darkness of his eyes, “What do you want to ask? Why do you have so many questions tonight?” “Hey, this is my first question since you refused to answer my previous one.” He said, chuckling as he saw her pouting face, “Tell me about yourself.”

“What do you want to know? I think you know me pretty well.”

“I want to know you inside out. Everything, including your childhood & your future planned.”

Tiffany smiled & returned her attention to her mug of latte, “We have an agreement that we aren’t allowed to ask about each other privacy but it seems like you, Mr. Kim, has breached the contract made by yourself.”

He groaned, “Can we forget about that silly agreement for the rest of the day? It was a stupid contract okay?!” She looked up at him & he

Chapter 40: Tiffany is really a tease, playing Jaejoong along and won't say the three words he's longing to hear. And now it serves her right as she may lose him to death, or she may lose him anyway by becoming a nun in a last-ditch effort to bargain with God for his life. What a travesty! She could have given her answer positively much earlier and could have gone home and averted the meeting with the murderer. I think she's pregnant, but it's a surprise for her to start getting sick only after more than three months or so as a result of their night in Paris. Waiting for the sequel to read more about the foolish woman who is now distraught for dragging out giving Jae her answer... Actually, I won't mind a tragic ending but not at Jaejoong's expense, though I won't mind if Tiffany suffers for the rest of her life. She loses my sympathy by her dithering.

Chapter 30: I wonder how and when Jae's mother will confess that his father isn't Mr. Kim? Even then, the whole society will still recognize the two of them as first cousins and I believe in Korea first cousins aren't legally able to get married to each other? Or is it only social norms which forbid such unions? In our country, Burma, first cousins, if they descend from a brother and sister, can get married because of different fathers carrying different bloodlines, but it's a no-no for those descended from two brothers to ever get together. And even if a marriage takes place between first cousins coming from two brothers, society frowns on the union, and for scientific reasons too, their children will get double whammy of both good and bad genes. Their children, at least some of them, can turn into genuiuses or idiots, if they're unlucky. So, to break the problem of Jae and Tiffany, something must become undone. It's Mr. Kim's fault to keep silent about Tiffany's father being his twin, he could have at least hinted to her they can be very close relatives, so that Tiffany can guard herself against falling for Jae. So, it's the old man's job to find an acceptable solution. Waiting for an updates soon...
