My CupidIt was like her body crashed down to the ground but it didn’t hurt. The darkness and silence enveloped around. Nicole’s eyelids fluttered open, a bright light shone into her eyes, elicit closure of her eyelids. Her head turned over, scanning around the small pastel-ish room as much as she could. Her left hand moved slowly reached something on a small table beside her bed but failed. She was too weak even how much she forced herself.
She scanned the whole room again and caught every little thing as much as she could from her lying position. One sofa and two armchairs placed in the corner, a few painting of flowers hanging on the wall, and she noticed an IV line in her arm as well an oxygen mask on her face. She tried to recall what she remembered to her when suddenly the door swung open.
“Nicole!” the girl with an apple hair squealed in shock before she rushed to the bed. “Nicole, can you hear me?”
Nicole vaguely saw the girl sob a relief and called something she couldn’t hear clearly. Soon after, a middle age man with two nurses coming to the room. Nicole failed to comprehend what they say afterward as their voices sounded distant and she felt her body become weak. The last thing she could hear before everything went dark was a voice shouting her name, and she just realized that was Hara’s voice calling her.

Nicole silently curled up on the bed, her eyes staring blankly at the television screen. It was a week after she woke up from a coma and she didn’t feel like doing anything since then. There was an odd and wrong feeling creep over her that it almost made her frustrated. She felt empty and lost, and she developed this habits too much lately
The door suddenly swung open, revealing Hara standing by the door, holding up two bags she brought. A bright smile made its way over Nicole’s face upon her friend’s arrival.
Pulling a chair beside the bed, Hara placed the bags on the desk. “Guess what I got for you,” she smiled playfully before pulling out the book.
“What book?” Nicole sat on her bed, staring curiously at her friend as the latter put the book in the drawer.
“Your favorite, comics.” she smiled widely, proud of herself as she closed the drawer. “To release your boredom.”
