“Eunji! How many times have I called you?! Come on!”
“Coming!”
I quickly slipped on my socks and came rushing down the narrow staircase.
“Kids, hurry up! You’re going to be late, and it’s not good to be late on your first day!”
“Yes mom.” Daehyun and I both grabbed a slice of bread and shoved it in our mouths before heading to school.
“Sometimes, I really think that Mom’s bipolar.”
I nodded in agreement. I looked at my watch, and realized that we weren’t actually late at all. The clock at home was set incorrectly. I could almost guarantee that it was Mom’s idea, which she forgot about.
“Yeah, she can be nice one second, but strict the other. It’s really weird.”
As I stepped into the gate of the school, I gulped. Everyone there seemed so… what do you call it, high class? I kept my head down while I walked through the schoolyard and hallway, and, thank god, nobody noticed me. I walked at the edge of the hallway, so I wouldn’t attract attention. I put my hood up and earphones on. No, I didn’t like being like this. I was more of the bubbly, happy type, and not the quiet, loner type. But then again, what could I do about it? Suddenly, a hand grabbed my hood and dragged me to a specific locker.
“Shh, it’s me, Eunji.”
“Dae, is that you? And your friends?”
“Yes, now look, do you see that group of girls over there?”
He pointed to a large group of girls over by the area I was walking in. I nodded.
“Well, you should stay clear of them. That group right there,” he pointed to a group of girls wearing branded clothes and accessories, “Is SNSD. They may seem nice, but they’re actually snobby and bullies, like any clichéd group of queenkas there are. That’s what Youngjae told me.”
