Blind Date

People Like You

After a long day of practicing, Yongguk was rewarded with a dinner date with his girlfriend. Yongguk arrived earlier than Ji Eun since she just finished shopping.

Yongguk was just about to be led to their table when Rae walked in.

“Hi, reservation under Song Ji-Eun.” Rae told the receptionist with a smile on her face. Yongguk's ears perked up when he heard his girlfriend's name. He turned around and was surprised when he saw his unwanted guest. Yongguk couldn't believe his eyes and so he immediately walked up to her.

“Are you stalking us?” He immediately asked her.

“Excuse me?” Rae looked at him with an incredulous look.

“Shouldn’t you be solving the problem regarding your charity instead of being out and about?” Yongguk probed again.

“I don’t need to explain anything to you.” She snapped at him. If he was going to continue show her attitude then she’ll return the favor.

Ji Eun walked in just in time to break the two from bickering and glaring at each other. She quickly noticed the animosity and went in between them, hooking her arms to both of them.

“Can you two please get along? For me?” Ji Eun pleaded with a pout.

“But why did you invite her again, I thought it would be just us?” Yongguk muttered under his breath.

“Yeah Ji-Eun why did you tag me along when he’s here?” Rae showed an equal amount of displeasure.

“Well…it’s necessary. I have something special planned tonight. He should be here by now, where is he?” Ji-Eun’s eyes wandered around the restaurant, looking for the other guest.

“He?” Yongguk and Rae asked at the same time, looking at Ji-Eun in confusion.

“Here’s the party I was looking for.” Someone suddenly joined in from behind. Ji Eun smiled as she turned around and saw Yongnam being escorted to them.

“Finally!” Ji Eun removed her hold on Rae and Yongguk to hug Yongnam. “Rae, this is Yongnam, obviously Yongguk’s twin but give him a chance. Don’t judge his personality right away just because you have a cat-mouse relationship with his brother.”

“Hi, nice to meet you.” Rae shook Yongnam’s hand out of courtesy.

“Nice to meet you too my date.” He shot her a charming smile.

“Date?!” Rae’s eyes widened the moment the word's meaning registered in her mind. She looked at Ji-Eun yet instead of an explanation, she only got a wink.

“Let’s go sit, we’re making a scene.” Yongguk suggested, walking ahead of the rest.

Yongnam and Ji Eun sat together facing Rae and Yongguk respectively. Yongguk of course complained about this set-up but JiEun stated that dates should be facing each other so they can really look at each other.

After ordering, Ji-Eun was thoroughly helping Rae and Yongnam to get to know each other.

Although Rae felt a bit flustered in the beginning, she was able to ask sensible questions and didn’t stutter when answering back.

Yongguk couldn’t help but just look on while his girlfriend kept encouraging the two.

Yongguk and Yongnam also took their time in catching up with one another. Rae couldn’t help but notice how close Ji-Eun and Yongnam were sitting to each other while she and Yongguk tried to have their chairs as far as away as possible.

‘They seem really close. If I was a passerby I would have probably thought that they’re the couple in the table. But then would that mean that Yongguk and I look the same? No way! With the space between us people would think we’re germaphobes who’d cringe even the slightest of our clothes touch.’ Rae thought while swirling her fork in her pasta dish.

“It was a pleasure being with you Rae.” Yongnam told Rae after they stepped out of the restaurant.

“Yeah, it was great meeting you too. I had fun.” Rae replied with a smile. The two exchanged numbers, which Ji-Eun happily witnessed.

“Yongguk, is it okay if I steal your girlfriend for a bit? There’s a band that I want her to check out, see if they have a shot in the business. I wasn’t going to suggest it since I didn’t know what time we’ll end but the timing is good now since their show is just about to start.” Yongnam asked Yongguk, hoping his brother will say yes.

“Oh, sure, why not. Can I go with you guys?”

“Yeah, the more, the merrier right. How about you Rae?” Yongnam invited her as well.

“Actually I need to go home now. I still have an early start tomorrow.”

“How are you getting home?” Ji-Eun asked her, concerned since it’s already late.

“Oh don’t mind me I’ll just take a cab.” Rae assured them that she’s okay, she’s used to commuting at night anyway.

“I can’t let you do that. Babe, can you be a sweetheart and take her home? I’d ask Yongnam but he's my connection to get in the gig he's talking about.” Ji-Eun asked her boyfriend sweetly while Rae reacted right away, rejecting her offer.

Like the gentleman that he is, Yongguk agreed although he wasn’t vocal about it. He just nodded and walked to his car while the girls bid each other good night.

Rae felt awkward the moment she entered his car. Why does she keep getting stuck with him?

Yongguk cleared his throat after inputting the location of Rae’s house in the car’s GPS.

“So…how was my brother for you?” Yongguk knew he had to make small talk or else Ji-Eun would bug him for not trying to patch things up with Rae.

“You’re really asking me about that?” Rae looked at him with one of her eyebrows raised.

“Yeah, I want to know your honest opinion, he is my brother after all.” Yongguk shrugged. It seem like it's so hard for the two of them to communicate properly without questioning each other's intentions.

“Okay since you asked. Honestly, I don’t think we’re that great of a match. I mean he is nice and all, I can see us being friends but more than that? I don’t know yet.” Rae didn’t hold back with her answer.

Comparing it now in her head, Rae definitely felt a different first impression with the twins. With Yongguk it was like her breath was taken in an instant and he was able to make her blush. Although Yongnam made her feel comfortable right away, her heart beat didn’t accelerate for him.

"Are you planning on seeing him again soon?" He asked again, looking at her briefly as they came to a halt due to a red stoplight.

"Why? Are you going to start accusing me of being a gold digger? Will you tell him I'm only after his money?" Rae couldn't help but be defensive around him, although Yongguk brought that upon himself.

Yongguk scoffed at her allegation. "Do you really think I'm that kind of a bad guy?" He asked with a serious tone.

"Can you blame me? I haven't seen the other side of you, other than our first meeting. You started this war." She retorted. She has been hurt with his words. That kind image of him at the gala is slowly disappearing in her memory because of the hostility between them.

Yongguk just kept quiet after hearing her response. This on-going fight has taken a toll on both of them, even Ji-Eun and it needed to stop. Yongguk needed to swallow his pride and just accept the facts that are being thrown at his face...that Rae has never been at fault.

They finally arrived in front of Rae's place after a few more minutes that was consumed by silence.

"Uhm...thanks." Rae still thanked Yongguk for driving her back home, she was actually surprised that he didn't complained.

Yongguk acknowledged it with a nod before watching her open the car door.

Rae was already near her door when she heard Yongguk call her name. She looked behind her and saw that Yongguk was walking towards her.

Yongguk took a deep breath before finally letting out a sincere apology that has been long overdue. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry, for all the offensive things I said. I really am. I know I was a jerk and I didn't mean to be that way, my emotions just got the best of me. I hope we can start anew and if you can't forgive me then at least pretend you can for Ji-Eun's sake."

Hey everyone.

It's been quite some time since my last update. Honestly I kind of lost my drive to write, hopefully this post will re-ignite it. I have no plans of not finishing my stories but I can't promise to update frequently.

Hoping to hear feedback from my readers, it really helps.

Thanks. Hope you enjoyed this chapter.
