It's toxic between them. He knows what they share, stopped being love a long time ago but he can't let go. Because even when his friends try to pull him away, he crawls his way back. Because even when the world has turned its back, he can never leave.    They're screaming at each other, again. They're yelling cruel things and harsh words, glares are exchanged and sneers directed at one another.  His heart tears with every hate filled word spewed at him, and his heart breaks with every equally cruel retort he throws back. And when they're staring at each other, inches apart that they can feel the animosity radiating off each other, they lean and clash teeth. It's angry and he can feel red marks etch into his skin and burning touches bruise against his hips.   He lies awake hours later, the figure beside him peacefully sleeping; it's so different when he's awake. How can one look so peaceful and innocent when they're both just filled with anger and jealousy. He wonders if he can ever break out of this toxic mold.    "You deserve better."
