BLACK TINKERBELL
IN THE DARKNESS
In the next day, on lunch break, Hyunsoo gave me a small carton bag. I blinked in confuse.
“What is it?” I said while took a peek.
Suddenly he grabbed it and put it into my backpack. “Just open it at home.” He ped my backpack and patted it. Then he walked away.
I blinked. “What’s wrong with him?” I shrugged and walked behind him to cafeteria.
Afternoon, 4.45 PM. I opened the door and found Hyunsoo stood there. I blinked.
“What are you doing here?” I asked bluntly.
“ you, of course.” He smirked.
“Huh? To where?”
“You had an appointment this night, Miss.” He rolled his eyes. “Should I call you Granny now?”
“Hey! I’m not that old!” I glared. “By the way, what appointment?”
“Duh, your friend invited us to have a dinner on his place, right? Who’s his name again? Will?”
I mentally facepalmed myself. “Oh, yeah. I forgot.”
“Tsk. You have fifteen minutes to prepare yourself, Girl”, said him while pushed me into my home.
“Why… what?” I confused.
“His place is far away from here. We should take bus”, said him while sat on couch.
I rolled my eyes. “Okay. But fifteen minutes is too much. Make it five.” I yelled while skipped to my room.
“HUH!?” shouted him.
Five minutes later I stood in front of him. “Let’s go.”
He almost threw his phone once he saw me. “Yah! Are you serious?”
“Huh? Excuse me?” I glared at him.
“You’ll wear that?” He pointed to my outfits.
“Yeah. What’s wrong with my outfits?” I protested. I only wore black cap, white shirt, worn out jeans, jeans jacket, sneakers and my backpack.
He sighed. “I expected too much from you.”
“Heh?”
“Nah. It’s okay. Let’s go.” He held my hand and walked out from my home.
“Do you like it?” asked him while we sat in bus.
“Like what?” I blinked.
He rolled his eyes. “Something that I gave you this noon…?”
“Oh, that! I don’t open it yet.” I grinned. “It still here”, I said while patted my backpack.
“Huh!? Why you didn’t open it?”
“Cause Mom asked me to do this and that. But I can open it here if you allow me.”
“Why you need my permission to open it?”
“Cause you said that I should open it home but we are in bus now, so…” I glanced at him.
He chuckled. “Okay, you can open it now.”
I smiled brightly. I ped my backpack and took out that small bag. I opened it. There was a small box inside that bag. I took out the box and opened it. My eyes widened. I looked at him.
“Hyun, are you serious with this?” I asked disbelieve while showed a silver bracelet on my palm.
He laughed. “Of course, yes. Why? Dislike it?”
“No. I like it, but…”
“But what?” asked him while took the bracelet from my hand and put it around my wrist, beside pink bracelet that I got from Jackie. “It suits you.” He smiled.
“It looks so expensive…” I looked at the bracelet.
“It’s not, especially for my best friend.” He smiled.
Best friend, huh? I smiled a bit. “Thanks, Hyun. I’ll treasure it.”
“You’re welcome, Josephine.”
“Yah! Why you call me with that name?” I glared.
He chuckled a bit. “Cause I love that name…”
What’s on your mind, Hyunsoo? What the meaning for those words? You make me confused to be honest. Don’t give me a fake hope.
We had a dinner with Will and Lizzy. That went smooth and good. They celebrated my birthday and I got a cute teddy bear from them. I was happy that day. I felt like it was perfect, but I was wrong.
Hyunsoo walked me back to my home. It was almost 9 PM when he dragged me into a café nearby. I blinked in confuse.
“I need something warm”, said him while walked into the shop.
I nodded, let him did whatever he wanted. He ordered warm tea and warm milk tea. He pay the teas and brought them to the table near window. I smiled while walked behind him and sat in front of him.
“I want to ask you something…”, said him while put the drinks on table and sat.
“Sure. What is it?” I asked while took off my cap and ruffled my hair.
“Promise that you’ll be honest with me.”
I chuckled. “Since when you become so serious like this, Hyun?”
“Yah, just promise me!”
“I’ll try.” I sipped my warm milk tea.
“Liu Yiyun!” He glared at me.
“Okay. Fine. I promise!” I said while put my cup on table. “Just spill it out, Hyun.”
“You love him, right?”
I blinked. “Him? Who?”
“That Will guy, duh!” He rolled his eyes.
I chuckled. “What should I?”
“Tsk. You can’t lie from me, Girl. It’s extremely obvious. Your face is like an opened book.”
I kept silent and stared at him for a while. I sighed and rested my chin on my palm. “I did.”
“Did?” He frowned and leaned closer to me. “You two broke up?”
I shook head and grinned. “We even didn’t have any date together.”
“So? A crush?”
“It’s an ex-crush, Hyun.” I smiled. “I did love him but he didn’t feel the same back then.”
“But I can see he still in love with you, you know?”
I laughed. “That’s funny, Hyun.”
“Yah, Yi, I’m not joking around. I can see it. The way he looked at you, the way he treated you, the way he treated me as his rival…”
I covered my mouth. “Oh, my… Hyun, from where you …?”
“Let say, man’s instinct.” He grinned.
“But it doesn’t matter anymore.” I smiled.
“Why? You’re single and…”
“But not him”, I cut his words.
“Eh?”
“He has a girlfriend here. Lizzy told me.”
“But I’m sure he still…”
“Just forget about it, Hyun. Let past be a past, okay?”
“Sure, Yi. Let past be a past”, said him before he sipped his tea.
He walked me home after we finished our tea. He sneaked his hand into my palm. He held it till we arrived in front of my house.
