Merry Xmas :)

Her phone rang and she groaned, squinting at the digital clock next to the bed.  She searched for the ringing device and squinted at the number.

“Fany. Do you know what time it is?”

Tiffany chuckled. “Yap, it says here in my clock. It is exactly 12 midnight right?”

Taeyeon  huffed. “Then why are you calling this late. And why are you still cheerful at this time?” She rolled to lie on her back and finally opened her eyes.

“I’m just really excited to greet someone”

Taeyeon stretched and yawned. “I don’t really understand you right now, are you that bored in Japan?”

Tiffany is in Japan for a shooting, due to popular demand her current TV series with Dennis has been extended for few more episodes.

“I’m not bored but I’m a little bit sad that I wouldn’t be there to celebrate your day. But at at least I’ll be the first one to greet you. Happy Birthday Taetae!!!” Tiffany shout out merrily.

Taeyeon was fully awake now, she sat up and couldn’t help but smiled when she heard the bubbly voice of Tiffany greeting her.

“I bet you just woke up some of your housemate with that voice” Taeyeon grinned.

“Yah! Really that’s how you show your appreciation. Hmph” Tiffany sulked.

Taeyeon laughed. “Well, thank you for making me laugh for..” she glanced at the clock “for the first 10 minutes of my birthday, no one has ever done that to me yet.” Taeyeon answered with a snigger.

“I hate you”

“Oh, you don’t say that to a birthday girl”

“_”

“Tiffany”

“_”

“Fany-ah”

“_”

“Miyoung”

“_”

“I love you”

Still no reply but she knew the other girl is still on the other line Did she go overboard? Tiffany might think she doesn’t appreciate what the younger girl did?

“Taetae is sorry for being stupid now. Please don’t be angry to Taetae on her birthday, it will be the saddest birthday ever.” Taeyeon cringe at her own aegyo voice.

Suddenly she heard a giggle that turns into laughed.

“Omo, I should have record that” Tiffany thought that Taeyeon’s little speech couldn’t have been more cringe-inducing.

“Only for my Miyoung”

“I wish I’ve seen your face when you say that” Tiffany said once she had managed to calm down. She couldn’t helped but snickered once in a while.

“I was curling my own fingers you know”

Tiffany laughed again and she laughed along with her.

“Thank you for making me happy, not just on my birthday but on every single day of my life since I met you.” She suddenly turned serious.

Tiffany sense it. “You do the same thing for me, too”

“But I sometimes hurt you with my stupidity” Taeyeon said solemnly.

“Why is this talk became gloomy, come on cheer up okay. What’s your plan on your birthday?”

“There will be a simple gathering on my agency tonight. No media, just a simple dinner with my colleagues and some close friends.”

They continue to catch up and talked random things, despite of the time no one wants to end the conversation.

“May I have your attention please?” Taeyeon speak and the chatters died slowly. They were now almost in the middle of the celebration and before people get drunk and went home, she decided to do a little speech.

“I’d like to thank you all for coming; and thank you for my big boss who actually organize and  prepared this celebration, so well you know I’m not really good in words so I might as well end this now. Thank you”

The room laughed and they started singing “Happy birthday” again. Taeyeon grinned and went back to her table together with some of her colleagues. They were in the middle of their conversation when Chen approached her.

“Taeyeon, there is something I need to tell you” he whispered.

Taeyeon raised her eyebrow at the tone and the look on Chen’s face, she excused herself and she followed Chen outside.

“Follow me” Chen said when they already went outside.

“Is this another surprise Oppa?” Taeyeon joked.

Chen stopped in front of a room and gesture her to come inside.

“I’ll just go ahead and explain to them where did you went if they looked for you?” Chen said and leave her alone.

 With eyebrows knitted, Taeyeon open the doorknob and walked inside the room. What she saw was an empty room.  Are they playing tricks on me now?  she thought.

“Hi Taeyeon”

The voice startled her, making her turn her head and that’s when she saw Jihyun smiling at her.

“Wha-how-where” Taeyeon stammered, still in a state of shock to see the person standing in front of her. She heard the girl giggled.

“That’s so unfair, you just turn 26 today but you still look like a high school student” Jihyun
 commented.

“What are you doing here?” Taeyeon finally said and looked  at Jihyun with one brow raised.

“My parents visit some relatives here in Seoul so I decided to come with them. I remember it is your birthday so I take my chances…” the girl paused when she see no reaction from Taeyeon’s face  “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t come here right”

Taeyeon shook her head. “No, it just that…..”

“They didn’t know about me right?”

Taeyeon nodded.

“That is why I asked your manager if I can see you in private. I really don’t want to make a scene and you might get mad at me again”

“How did you know that his my manager?”

“He was the one who saw me asking for you and he approached me. I’m glad he believe in me  and now I’m here. Happy birthday Taeyeon.”

Taeyeon smiled for a bit. “Thanks”  Even though they made up, Taeyeon still find it hard how to treat Jihyun and be back on the same way before, and the fact that both of them were a high profile in their profession, she didn’t know if she can invite her to come at her party knowing that most, well, all of her guest doesn’t know that she knew Jihyun personally.

“By the way Taeyeon, I told my parents that we’ve met again and we’re going back to U.S tomorrow morning, so…” Jihyun paused, she looks like she was weighing the right words to tell “I know this will be too much to ask but my parents wanted to meet you”

Taeyeon kept her gaze at the other girl who expectantly looking back at her.  Why does her parents wanted to meet me? Are they still mad at her because Jihyun and her meet again or they might apologize for what happened?  Taeyeon closed her eyes for a split second.

“When?” Jihyun eyes lighten up when she heard the question.

“Err..tonight if that’s fine with you… you can finished your celebration first, I can wait”

“It’s okay, I’ll just inform Chen Oppa”  Taeyeon took her phone and started typing.

“Did you bring your car?” Taeyeon asked after she sent a message.

“Yeah”

“Then I will just follow you with my car then, let’s go”

Tiffany stepped inside the unit slowly and closed the door. She the lights and walked toward the living room. She gently put down the cake box on the coffee table and put the photo book beside it as she sat on the couch. She looked over the wall to check at the clock and it was closed to 10pm, she knew that Taeyeon might be home anytime. She purposely called the girl earlier so that  Taeyeon won’t get any idea for her little surprise. She remember what Taeyeon did to her birthday and she wanted to return the favor. Tiffany lay down on the couch while waiting for Taeyeon but because her  tired and weary, since right after her plane landed in Seoul  she went straight to Taeyeon’s unit , she fell asleep.

The sound of a phone ringing woke her up. Tiffany sat up and answer the call, she almost wonder where she is right now.

“Hello”

“Oh, hey Tiffany, sorry for disturbing you, your back in Seoul right? How’s your surprise?”

It was her manager SooJin.

Tiffany looked around and it seems like Taeyeon is still not home. She looked at the clock and frowned when it says that it’s already 12:30.

“Yeah, I’m back in Seoul but Tae-“ she stopped when she heard a beeping sound on the front door. “Unnie, I think Taeyeon just got back, I’ll call you later okay” She ended the call and quickly took out the cake from its box and lighted up candles before holding up the cake and stand in the middle of the living room. She wanted to turn off the lights but she has no time so she just leave it as it is.

 

Taeyeon entered her unit. “Come inside” she said to her but was puzzled when she noticed the lights were on. She just shrugged I probably forgot to turn it off.

They walked towards the living room.

“Happy Birth-” Tiffany felt like her tongue recede back to when she saw who was with Taeyeon.

“Tiffany” Taeyeon was taken aback from Tiffany’s presence at her unit.

Jihyun must have sense the heavy atmosphere between the two of them so she decided to leave.

“Taeyeon, I think I’ll just go ahead”

Taeyeon glanced at Jihyun “But I thought…”

“No, it’s okay” Jihyun gently rubbed Taeyeon’s arm “Thanks”

Tiffany kept her expression under control when she saw that gesture. When did they became close like this again and what is Jenna doing here?

When Jihyun left, Taeyeon approached Tiffany, she couldn’t tell what the latter is thinking.

“I thought you were in Japan?”

“I hope I was in Japan so that I wouldn’t have to see that” Tiffany gritted her teeth, she put the cake down on the table and blew the candles before grabbing her phone and bag. She was tired and disappointed at the outcome of this.

Taeyeon blocked Tiffany and held her arm. “Were not doing anything wrong, and please let’s not fight, it’s my birthday anyway” She looked at her, pleading, but Tiffany yanked her arm free and scooted back.

“Why do you have to bring her here at this time?!” Tiffany raised her voice. “And it was pass 12 so technically, it’s not your birthday anymore” Tiffany said the last part through her clenched teeth. She walked passed Taeyeon but the latter held her wrist to prevent her from leaving.

“Enough of this petty jealousy Tiffany!” Taeyeon couldn’t help but raised her voice as well, she doesn’t want an angry and misunderstanding Tiffany on this day. “We haven’t seen each other for many days and you wanted to fight. I already made it clear to you how she stands in my life so I don’t get it why your making such a fuss about this. I have never interfere nor accuse you of anything with your friendship with Dennis after we talked about it so I’d expect you’d do the same.” Taeyeon said frustratingly.

“Is that all what you’re thinking ha”

“What else you wanted me to think, you were clearly just being jealous again. You wanted to argue at something so silly and nonsense”

Taeyeon knows she has made a mistake the moment those words left when she saw pain and anger at Tiffany’s eyes.

“You called this nonsense. Do you have any idea how I push myself to the limit just to finished all my scene back in Japan just for me to fly back here in Seoul so that I could be present on this day.” Tiffany gulped, suppressing the sudden warmth creeping up to her eyes. “And I also knew that we haven’t seen each other for a while so I thought it would be a good idea if I could come exactly on your birthday” Tiffany’s voice cracked and a lone tear finally escaped from her eyes  “coz I remember you basically did the same for me”

Taeyeon’s face softened when she saw the tearing eyes, she stepped forward to wipe those tears away but it hurts her when Tiffany stepped back away from her.

“and now you’re telling me that this is useless, do you really have any idea what I’m feeling right now?”

That was the last thing Tiffany said before she walked out of her unit, she was left alone feeling hurt, guilty and angry at herself. She groaned and face palmed herself, Stupid Taeyeon, The guilt intensify when her eyes moved to the cake on the coffee table, she sat in the couch and stare at it. She noticed the photobook beside it and she take a look. Once she turn the pages and saw that it was compilation of their photos since they got together; she was suddenly engulfed in so many emotions all at once. Memories of those occasion invade her mind and so their argument. Tiffany just wanted her to be happy but she just ended up making the latter cry.

Tiffany ended up crying the whole night after their fight and to make matter worse, the first thing that she saw in the morning was the photo of Jihyun and Taeyeon together,  which is now all over the internet.

“Tiffany” Dennis took the glass from Tiffany’s hand and set it on the bar counter along with the bottle, “is there something wrong?”

Tiffany shook her head. “Everything’s fine. What could possibly be wrong?”

They are now at one of her friend’s bar, and she was with her other friends but she isolated herself.

“We’re not just colleagues now right? I’m a friend so you can tell me, is this about the rumors about Taeyeon?”

Tiffany scoffed when she heard the name, her hand automatically took the glass and pour some wine on it again.

“I was surprised to know that Taeyeon personally knows Jenna Park. I mean, based on your stories about Taeyeon, I have never thought she could get along with Jenna since they’re personality is totally opposite to each other” Dennis remarked.

Just like us!....Is that why…? Even though Jenna’s career is a success but her private life seems to go to another way, she was seen dating different guy every month, always in a club and she even once get arrested for driving while drunk.

“I don’t really wanna talk about it Oppa” She drank the wine in one go.

“Okay but that’s enough” he put the glass and bottle away from Tiffany “ I already called Soojin unnie, she’s going to pick you up now”

Both of their eyes diverted to the phone on the counter when it vibrates. It’s Tiffany’s phone.

“Aren’t you gonna answer that?” Dennis asked.

It was Taeyeon whose calling. Tiffany just stared at the phone, she never answered any of Taeyeon’s call on that day. She was still mad and hurt, that she couldn’t deny. She ignored it and asked the bartender for another drink.

“Tiffany!” Dennis warned.

“Oppa, I will stop when Soojin unnie arrives but please just let me be”

After 30 minutes, Soojin show up and was glad that Tiffany were just tipsy. At the car, Soojin took a seat  beside Tiffany.

“Well, I’m surprised to see that your still in the right state of mind.” Soojin tried to joke, since she knew what Tiffany is going through right now.

“I’m actually disappointed…..I just  feel warm and lightheaded but the pain was still there” she kept the last phrase to herself.

She remember those articles that she red this morning, she knew that she should avoid doing that but she was curious and was itching to know more. She found out that Taeyeon leaves the celebration together with Jihyun and the comments from netizens just make her feel more bad. She knew that everyone will be surprise to find out that Taeyeon knew Jihyun personally, since her agency confirmed it. And as what as she expected, her name were dragged into this. People were curious if she knew about them, or Taeyeon must be cheating on her and worst, people assume that they already broke up and not revealing it yet.

She was snapped on her thought when Soojin nudged her.

“I think someone’s calling you?” Soojin asked.

Tiffany knew that it is Taeyeon, she took the phone out of her bag and she was right.

“Aren’t you going to answer that?”

Tiffany smiled a bit when she heard that question for the second time.

“What’s funny?”

“That was exactly what Oppa said earlier.”

The ringing stopped but after a few seconds it beep again for an incoming message. It is from Taeyeon. She read it “Please meet me at the Lotte World Indoor Ice Skating Rink tomorrow at 11pm. I will wait till you come.”

Tiffany scoffed for the 2^nd time at that day. You will wait for nothing. She didn’t reply to that and put her phone back to her bag.

“Aaachhooooo” Taeyeon sneezed reverberated inside the stadium. She was standing alone in the middle of the skating rink and waiting for Tiffany to come. All her calls and text were ignored by Tiffany, and knew that the latter is still mad at her. And her schedule were pack yesterday so when she find out that she has free time tonight, she texted Tiffany right away. It was thirty minutes after eleven, and Tiffany hadn't showed up yet, she was at the area since 10 in the evening.

Meanwhile, Tiffany just finished her schedule at that day and their now in the highway going back home. Their car stopped and her eyes suddenly divert to a billboard on her side and Taeyeon was on it. She sit up straight and remember her text last night, she looked at her watch and it is quarter to 12. She might went home already, she was almost an hour late. Then she remember that Taeyeon said that she will wait till she come. Tiffany sighed it was freezing cold already since it’s already winter, she wanted to go home and rest but what if Taeyeon was still there. She closed her eyes for a second and sighed.

“Ahjussi, can we go first to the Lotte World?”

“Yes Ms. Hwang”

Taeyeon was now hopping her feet from left to right, it was freezing cold  and she felt like she was now inside a refrigerator. She was freezing and shivering under her thick clothing,  Since she was standing in the ice rink for more than two hours already and her hands started to feel numb, she was still holding a bouquet of flower that she wanted to give to the younger girl. She sneezed for the umpteenth times and wrinkled her nose, she stare at the flowers in her hand.

“I can’t believe she didn’t come. How could she let me wait for too long, she could’ve at least inform me.” Taeyeon couldn’t help but grumbled and didn’t notice that there is someone approach her behind her back.

“So it is my fault now”

Taeyeon was shocked when she heard that voice and turn around. She saw the frowning face of Tiffany looking at her and gulped. How come she didn’t notice her presence and did she just hear her? Based on Tiffany’s face right, I guess she does.

Taeyeon smiled sheepishly.

“Why did you even asked me to come here?” Tiffany said and Taeyeon still notice the irritation on her voice.

She suddenly lost for words so she handed her the flowers that she’s been clutching the whole night as her eyes strayed away from Tiffany’s piercing gaze.

Tiffany took the flowers and read the card and it says “I’m sorry”. She turned her look at the girl in front of her but Taeyeon was embarrassingly hanging her head low. Tiffany knew her anger melt away as soon as she saw Taeyeon’s figure standing at the center of the ice rink, hearing her loudly sneeze she figure out that the latter must have been waiting for too long. And no matter how much she was annoyed with Taeyeon, she still find the older girl adorable especially when she saw the shocked round eyes and red nose. Tiffany sighed, she was very much in love with her.

“Why are you saying sorry to me?” Tiffany asked.

Taeyeon confusingly looked at Tiffany but the latter was just seriously staring at her, waiting.

Taeyeon cleared and looked straight into Tiffany’s eyes “I’m saying sorry not because you saw Jihyun at my unit at that night”  Tiffany raised her one eyebrow but didn’t said anything and let Taeyeon talk.  Taeyeon continued “Because I know myself that I will never cheat on you. I am sorry for being inconsiderate and selfish at that time. I was just only thinking of how I felt on that night that I neglect your efforts and your feelings during that time. And I’m really sorry for hurting and making you cry..” she lowered her head and her tone towards the end “..again, I’m really sorry Fany-ah” Taeyeon sincerely said.

Tiffany was just quietly looking at her and didn’t say a word. Taeyeon only lifted her head when Tiffany walked away from her.

“Tiffany, what else you wanted me to do” she followed the girl behind “please Fany-ah, don’t get-“

Taeyeon was silence with a pair of lips. It was just a simple kiss, Tiffany pulled back “ Babo!, look how red your nose and how dry your lips is. Who told you to wait in the middle of the ice rink when you could’ve just waited outside. You were really stupid sometimes Kim” Tiffany turn back and started walking again.

Taeyeon bit her lip to prevent from smiling wider. It’s okay if Tiffany called her stupid but at least she get a kiss.

I might add some extra sweet moments on the next chapter. I was actually inspired by Full House when I wrote this scene. :P
