He's calling about his notebook.

I recalled Lu Han's words 'To admonish myself'.

So this is what he meant...So that he never forgets the error he committed.

 And that's why he was distressed by Ms Han's surgery.

Now that I think about it, this explains why Kris was so strongly opposed to Han performing that operation as well.

The phone rang again.

Not again.

But I cant pick it up. If I hear his voice now...my feelings would waver.

I have to take my revenge...on you.

I waited for my phone to stop ringing before I had it turn off.

Why? Why did it have to be Lu Han?

Why did I have to fell for him too?

I got to the office, early in the morning. No one was there.

I wedge Lu Han's notebook into a stack of documents piled on his desk.

Then by chance, something falls to the floor.

Sleeping pills..

I pick up the medicine and slip one pill into my pocket.

Without realizing it, I find myself heading for the rooftop.

This is where we first kiss.

It happened recently  but yet it feels like a long time ago.

I stand in the very spot where it happened.

How ironic...

Who knew that operation would be something that brought us together.

"Dont jump off or anything okay?"

Huh? 

I turn around to see a woman wearing a white coat.

"Um..?" Who is she? I dont remember meeting such a not-doctorly looking doctor with perfect make up...

"I'm Ham Eunjing  from Internal Medicine. We havent met right?"

"We havent. I'm Jeon Jiyoon from Surgery."

"Ah, so YOU'RE  Jeon Jiyoon...,"she said with a look of surprise.

"Yes..."

"Our new arrival. Sehun speaks of you often,"she explain.

"Oh did he?"

"Yup. He thinks highly of you and it makes me really curious about you. Now, what is this promising new girl doing up here with a troubled look on her face?"

I cupped my cheeks with both hands."My face.... it didnt...."

Maybe it did...

"Well, if you say so,"she shrugged. "But you had this dark expression on your face that I was afraid you were gonna jump on us."

"I'm sorry....Thanks Dr Ham."

She smiled. "Eunjung's fine. Call me Eunjung. There arent a lot of women doctors here, we should stick together."

"Okay."

"I cant help you with any medical issues you're having but you can always talk to me about life,love,food..."

"Th-thanks.."

"Dont think too much okay. I've found out that most things resolve themselves after a good night's sleep anyway."

I smiled back. "You're right."

How amazing that would be if its true."

I walked back to the office thinking about Han Eunjung.She seems like a trustworthy, sisterly in need type. A good person.

I saw Lu Han walking up ahead.

Be cool, like nothing happened. Act nice and normal...

"Good morning,"I greet. 

He greet me back with a troubled look on his face..

I try my best to act cool as I pass by him but Lu Han stops me.

"I called you over again and again yesterday ..."

"I saw...I'm sorry. I was tired and fell asleep as soon as I got home."

"Oh. I was worried if something happened."

I laugh it off. "What could possibly happened? Oh, why did you call? Did you miss me that much?"

"Its nothing,"he said with a small smile. "and of coz I miss you."

"I'm gonna check on the patients. Well, see you later."

"My notebook..."he said.

"Hmm?"

"You didnt see it?"

"What notebook?"

"I showed you at some point. It contains entries about my patients."

"Oh right, that thick one...I havent seen it."

"Okay.."

I cupped his cheeks. "You lost it?'

He nodded. 

"Dont worry..You just misplaced it. My smart boyfriend does a flaw finally... Having a short term memory is okay...,"I teased.

He smiles.

"Well your desk is a mess. How about searching there?"

I drew my hand away when I sensed someone coming. A nurse passed by us. 

"What happened?"he asked.

"Hmm?"

Lu Han looks into my eyes.

"You look sick."

"Ah.. I had trouble sleeping."

"You did? I thought you said you went to sleep right after you got home?"

Oops, I did say that....

"Yeah but I woke up in the middle of the night and couldnt get back to sleep after that.."

Lu Han my cheek. "You should take a day off every now and then."

"Yes Doctor! I will."

"See you later."

My heart fills with sadness as I watch his back shrinking into the distance.

Just when we were opening up to each other..........

I have to get rid of those feelings once and for all.

I have to. You're the one who sent my mother to her death.......

After I had made my rounds, I returned to the office and saw Lu Han organizing his desk.

My gaze is cold and intent as I watch him uncover the notebook from a stack of documents.

An expression of relief appears on his face.

Admonishment is a pretty word..

If you are admonishing yourself by looking at your little book, why didnt you allow the information to be publicize and atone for your crime when it happened?

I'm desperate to persuade myself.

That's right...This man hit the fact of his error to protect his position and future as a doctor.

It doesnt matter how many patients he'd saved or how much he repents. 

There's no writing off of what he's done.

The next day...

I took the day off and go to Busan to visit my mother's grave.

"Mom, I'm here.."

Poppies have been placed around her grave.

Her favourite grave...

Somebody has been bringing them every year on the anniversary of her death...but who?

"I'm sorry, its taken me 12 years butits almost time. I found the person who committed the mistake. "

I take out a copy of the entry from Lu Han's notebook, out of my handbag.

"I always thought it was the Director but it wasnt,"I said bitterly.

"It was his son instead....Dr Lu Han..."

The person I was falling in love with.....

But that all over now. Now, when I think of Lu Han...

For a second I feel like I can hear my mother. She's saying 'Yoonie, relax.'

"Mom...?"

I remember the last time she smiled. 

It was that day. That's what she said to me right before she was brought to the operating room. 'Yoonie, relax. I'm not even the tiniest bit scared' . That's what she said to me when I was hiding my fear and desperately trying to put on a happy face...

My mother trusted the hospital, trusted the doctors.

But that trust was betrayed ......

"I'm not going to relax. I'm coming to this hospital to avenge your death. I've thought about nothing else for 12 yrs. I cant stand before that criminal and just quit."

I tighten my grip around my mother's entry from Lu Han's notebook.

"I can never forgive the person the person who did this, no matter who it is..The person who took your life away.."

For that , I can pretend to be in love..

I will use our new relationship and take my revenge.

The next day,

"Nurse Jihyun, I'd like to take a look at how the patients were doing yesterday."

"I have all the information here."

She passed me some documents.

"Thanks. No changes?"

"None, they just missed you."

"Oh well...good^^"

"All right, I'm going to take some temperatures."

"Dr Jeon!"Lay calls out.

"Mr Zhang"

"You were off yesterday right?"he asked.

"I was. How did you know?"

"I know as long as it concerns you,"he answered."You went home right? To Busan?"

"What? How ...did you know?"

He look surprised. "How? Because yesterday was the anniversary of your mother's passing."

"You remembered.."

"Of course. I didnt forget even for one day since it happened."

Those flowers that someone has been bringing to my mother every year...could it be....

"Listen..."

"Yeah?"

"Jiyoon.."

I heard Lu Han calling my name.

I turn my face to him.

"Could you come with me to the office?"

"Ok."

"Dr Lu ,thanks for the other day. I hope we can do it again sometime"

"Sure."

"Well, I've finished my business here for the day. Dr Jeon, I hope I can introduce our products to you again too,"

"Oh yeah."

If it was Lay, I wanted to thank him but it looks like I've lost my chance to ask....

We headed to the office.

"Here,"Lu Han said as he pass me some documents."Its about the next surgery."

"Ok, I will take a look."

I proceed to my table.

"Can I talk to you for a second."

"Yes, of course."

"All right, later."

"Oh.."

Later so its not about work.

"Wait for me before you leave."

"..."

Whats wrong with you, Jeon Jiyoon!

I am being with him coz of revenge!

There's no reason to hesitate.

Being alone with him means an opportunity for me. 

I have to play this part and I cant let him realize that I am the daughter of Kim Ok Bin.

"Okay, we've finished the rounds,"Nurse Gayoon said.

"Yeah, I dont think there's anything else this department can do for Mr Byun in 710. Hmm, can we ask about admitting him to Internal Medicine?"

"You're right. I guess we'll have to,"she replied.

"I'll talk to the internists. Once they get back to us, please prepare him for the move,"I instructed.

"Got it."

I pick up the phone and enter the number for Internal Medicine. But it might be quicker to go and talk about it in person....

"Excuse me..."

"Hey, I know you,"

"Hi Eunjung.."

"What's wrong,"she asked, smiling.

"Actually, we have a patient who I'd like to admit to your unit.."

"Who?Let me see."

I handed her the chart I brought with me.

After reading it, she said,"I see...It doesnt look like there's anything else you guys can do, does it?"

"Okay. I'll examine him."

"Thank you. I really appreciate it."

"No problem. Anyway, how's it going?"

"Um?"

"Did you solve your problem?"

"I..."

"What's this? What problem?"

"Sehun...."

"Hey, that's not nice. You're talking to Eunjung about a secret you're keeping from me." he said sadly.

"No, that's not what.."

"Wait, since when have you two known each other anyway?"

"Hush, hush. Jiyoon came to give you work. There's no need to be jealous."

"I wasnt jealous...."

"All right, so you do it. Jiyoon, I'm giving this to Sehun, okay?"

"Either one of you is fine by me..."

"Sehun, it is,"Eunjung smile at him evilly.

"Well then, thank you Sehun."

"Its cool but....you can be really hurtful, you know. With your 'either way' and 'well then'..."

"I'm sorry but I would be very happy if you could do this for me."

Sehun's face lighted up.

"If you feel that strongly about it, of course I'll do it."

"Of course.."

"So how about a coffee?"

"No, I have to get going..."

"Come on, one cup. Even though yours is better."

"Um.."

Sehun fills some cups with coffee.

"Here you are."

"Thanks."

"So, are you settled in?"

"I supposed so.."

"That sounds fun, a new job. I'd like to give a new place a try."

"Have you always been here?"

"Yup, 8 years now."

"Then Kris and Lu Han must've already been here when you started."

"That's right, they both started here as residents too."

"What was Lu Han like back then?"

"What was he like...?"

SeHun looks at me, a bit surprised at my sudden interest.

"Like...I heard from somebody who knew LuHan then that he was a happy young man, always making jokes."

"Really..? I..." SeHun looks at me hesitantly. "Actually, yeah, Hyung used to be like that."

"Oh really?"

"But when I came here as a resident, he was already the way he is now."

What does he mean by 'used to be'.

"You mean you both knew each other before you started here?"

"Huh...? Oh kinda..."

"How did you know each other?"

"Like an older kid from my neighbourhood."

"Really huh.."

Like a childhood friend......

When were at the Director's home, SeHun mentioned something about 'politics'. He might be talking about the relationship between their families.

"What do you think of him, knowing him the way you do?"

SeHun looked away. His expression is troubled.

"That's a tough question. Like...even though he acts the way he does, he's really focused on personal success."

"Something like that,"I agreed.

"Well, that's not Hyung. He is completely unambitious."

"What about lying to protect himself?" I questioned him.

But SeHun seems to be very defensive of LuHan.

"No, no. In fact , I wish he would place a little more importance on himself."

"Interesting,"I muttered.

"Why do you ask?"

"Oh, because....He confuses me.The way he acts."

SeHun grins. "You're like telling me that I still dont have a handle on that guy."

"No..?"

"Of coz not. We're talking about the same LuHan right? He is not an easy person to understand."

"I guess you're right....Well, I should be going."

"Back to Surgery?"

I nodded.

"Then I'll go with you..."

"Oh.."

"I have to drop by the Surgery anyway."

I return to Surgery, Kris is standing alongside of LuHan's desk.

"The Director wanst to speak to you again regarding that show..."

"I seem to remember having declined,"Lu Han said, looking totally uninterested at the topic.

"Yes but the Director has been holding off on a response. I believe he wants to persuade you,"Kris said.

"Then you should respond. I decline. When a person declines a thing, they should do so sooner rather than later right?"

"Of coz..but..."

What are they arguing about? A show? Like on TV?

"What, what?"SeHun barges in on them. "Are you gonna be on TV?"

Both LuHan and Kris looked at each other in silence.
 
"Yeah.." LuHan finally answered.

"Performing with a famous actress! The brilliant super doctor...You are so lucky Hyung.."

"If you think so, you can do it."

SeHun eyes widen with hope. "Really, I can?"

"Of coz you can't!"Kris said in an upset tone.

SeHun looked crestfallen.

"Of course.."SeHun replied sadly.

"Television has enourmous power. Audiences jump at whatever's on, be it doctors or food. The Director believes that LuHan appearing on television would be a tremendous publicity."

"Publicity..."LuHan said with a long sigh."Is that a doctor's job?"

"Of coz we recognize that it is not the priority but as a doctor who works at this hospital, yes, it is part of your job,"Kris reasoned.

"I dont have the time to spare on something that is not a priority.And certainly not leaving patients in order to do so." LuHan state firmly

He's not lying...I think.

I stare at LuHan.

I'm sure that LuHan means it when he says that the patients are his priority.

How is it that, 12 years ago, this same person covered up his mistake?

SeHun said the same thing.

That LuHan isnt the kind of person who would lie in order to protect himself. And yet....why...?
