To get revenge for what they did to my mother......

I catch sight of a statue at the entrance. A bust of the hospital's director.

It stops me in my tracks.

What is this? Do hospital directors normally put statues of themselves?

Twelve years ago, a surgical error resulted in my mother's death. 

That man crafted the cover-up.

I'm going to show him how its done.... and kill him with my own hands!

I was brought to Lu Jie's office. 

"Sir, I have Dr Jeon with me.."the pretty secretary said.

I gave a slight bow,"Hello. I am Jeon Jiyoon. I'm starting today in your Department of Surgery."

Lu Jie flipped through my resume.

"Dr Jeon Jiyoon. We've been impatiently awaiting for your arrival."

Thr director extends a hand.

I am shaking hands with my mother's murderer.. the same hands which caused her death....

"Likewise sir. I've been looking forward to this day for quite some time."

He laughs. "We're expecting great things from you."

That idiotic laugh,puts me off.

"I'll do my best not to disappoint."

Knock,knock.

"Yes?"

A male doctor steps in. 

"I see, I'm late."

"Ah, you came."

"This is Dr Kris Wu from Surgery," Lu Jie introduced.

"Its a pleasure,"Kris said with a smile.

"Jeon Jiyoon. The pleasure is all mine."

"Your reputation precedes you. I've heard that you were quite the busy doctor at your previous hospital, despite being so young."

"Well, you cant believe everything you hear......"

"True but you in fact show a great deal of promise. I am sure patients will be happy to be put under your care,"Lu Jie said.

I smile at him.

Taking away patient's futures and to think he had such a calm face.

Dont you speak as though you care about them old man!

Unable to take it, I cast my eyes downward.

"Its a sign of our Director's popularity that this hospital attracts such outstanding staff."

"Hahaha. Kris, you flatter me. By the way what's holding up Lu Han?"

"He's operating and wont be able to make it."

"Is that right? I told him to keep his schedule open today."

"Yes, well, Lu Han is exceptionally passionate when it comes to patients."

Lu Han? Who is he?

"Oh well. It will just be us then. Shall we get going?"

"Going where sir? May I ask?"

Kris answered instead,"A welcome lunch, according to my memo. After you..."

Kris opened the door for me.

This place look pricey....

"Ms Jeon, you were working at Busan General Hospital was it?"

"Yes sir."

"So is that where you were from?" Kris asked.

"You could say that..."

"In that case, you're parents must miss you..."

"Actually.." 

I cant talk about my mother....time to change subject.

"Oh that reminds me. Who is Lu Han? He was mentioned earlier..."

"My son,Lu Han. He's a surgeon at the hospital."

"Is that right?"

A soh huh.....

"I had told him that I was going to introduce you today but...."

"Its okay. I'll be sure to introduce Xiao Lu to Ms Jeon."

"No, there are better ways for you to use your time Kris."

"Its my job sir,to support you and Xiao Lu."

"Haha...Ms Jeon, isnt Kris a good guy?"

"He is," I agree.

"My plan for the future is for Lu Han along with Kris. To bring Seoul General Hospital into its finest era."

"You trust them a lot"

"Lu Han only cares about the patients and on top of that, he's stuborn. But Kris here, he's very well balanced."

"I dont know if I'd say that."

"Dont be modest Kris. I am sure that with you around, the hospital can get over any unexpected event that comes its way..."

"Unexpected event...." I muttered.

"Did you say something Ms Jeon?"

"No, its just....Are you aware of anything like that..."

"Is there something on your mind?"

"No, nothing..."

"Its just that recently patients can be sensitive about any little thing. Its a difficult job, there was a medical malpractice suit on the news just the other day...."

Lu Jie's expression changed to a stern one.

It looks like I've pushed too hard.

"You dont have to worry about that here," Kris said. " Dr Lu was just selected as one of the 'Ten Young Doctors to Change the Future of Surgery'. Patients have the outmost trust in all of our doctors."

"I see..."

"Being the reception of such gratitude from patients. I cant imagine any of them would say something against us."

"You're right.."

Perhaps Kris doesnt know about this. It wad twelve years ago.

"I'm sorry. I didnt mean to imply anything..."

"No, its true," Lu Jie defended. "No matter how thorough the treatment. Therr are always some people who make wild claims, causing a fuss."

Thats how he looks upon the victim. What nerve.....

"Well, I must be on my way."

"Then I will go back to the hospital with Ms Jeon " Kris said.

Lu thanked him.

"Thanks for the lunch sir."

When the Director left Kris lets out a sudden sigh.

"Faking smiles is so exhausting."

I was surprised. " What do you.....?"

Kris smirked. " Well, you dont want to get on his bad side."

Kris...He had me... I thought he was completely devoted to the Director.

"The way you were digging just now, you made him nervous.

"..."

I shouldnt have brought up the subject after all.

"Perhapd there was something after all?"

Kris... I have to be wary of him.

He's so sharp.

"Thats absurd."

"It is?"

"Of course! Please dont say things like that can be so easily misinterpreted."

"Well..alright.."

Kris looks me over as though he's searching for something. 

Could it be that he really knows something?

"Well, perhaps we should be on our way too."

"Sure."

He's nobody's fool. I felt like he can see right through me ?
