Epilogue - Part 1

Flashback

 

“Congratulations, Mrs. Kwon! You’re in two weeks pregnant now. You need to be extra careful because you are at the very early stage of pregnancy. Don’t do heavy works, eat lots of healthy food like fruits, lots of green vegetables and also fibre. Don’t forget to take your vitamins too, arasso?,” the doctor said. Yoona was dumbfounded as she’s still couldn’t believe on what the doctor said at the moment. She was in a state of shock.

 

“Mrs. Kwon? Are you okay?,” the doctor asked in worried tone, causing the latter startled.

 

“Ermm.. y-yeah, I’m okay, doctor. It’s just, I was shocked just now,” she said as she smiled sheepishly. The doctor chuckled.

 

“I understand Mrs. Kwon. Anyway, are you coming here alone, or with your husband?,” the doctor asked.

 

“With my husband. He’s waiting at outside,” Yoona replied.

 

“Can you please call him here? I want to give some advice for the spouse too, so that he could be more alert and careful towards you during your pregnancy,” the doctor said.

 

“D-dae. I will call him right now,” she replied and immediately got up from her seat and walked out of the examine room.

 

“How was it?,” Yuri asked as he immediately got up from the seat at the waiting area the moment he saw Yoona was walking towards him with her gloomy face.

 

“The doctor wants to see you,” she said.

 

“Chincha? B-but why? Is everything okay, babe?,” he asked worriedly.

 

“You will know it after you see the doctor,” she replied with a sad tone.

 

“Aishh.. You’re making me worry here, babe. Alright, let’s go,” he said while grabbing his wife’s hand and entwined their hands together. Yoona just giggled silently, enjoying teasing her worried husband.

 

“Good morning doctor!,” Yuri greets the doctor right after he entered the examine room.

 

“Mr. Kwon! Good morning! Please come in and have a seat,” the doctor said. Yuri and Yoona then took their respective seats.

 

“Is everything okay with my wife, doctor?,” Yuri asked worriedly. The doctor raised her brows while looking at Yoona. Yoona just pretending like nothing happened. After a while, she seemed to know on what Yoona was up to.

 

“You still don’t know about your wife’s condition?,” the doctor asked. Yuri nodded. She then chuckled, causing Yuri feeling puzzled on her sudden act.

 

“You’re making me confused here, doc,” he said as he looked at the doctor weirdly.

 

“Alright. Since you still don’t know, I will leave it for Mrs. Kwon to tell you later. But, as for now, I need you to give an extra attention to her, and please watch out on her food taking. Don’t let her do any heavy works, eat more healthy food, drinks and eat lots of fruits. Make sure she take her vitamins too, arasso?,” the doctor said with a smile.

 

“D-dae. Don’t do heavy works, eat lots of healthy food. W-wait! Is she sick or what?,” Yuri asked impatiently.

 

“She’s not sick, Mr. Kwon. Mrs. Kwon, care to tell your husband right now?,” the doctor replied. Yoona chuckled and leaned closer to Yuri and whispered to his ear.

 

“Mworago? I will going to be a father soon?,” he exclaimed while looking at his wife in shocked. Yoona nodded and smiled. His mouth opened and closed like a fish, he lost for words as he was in a state of shock.

 

“Yes, Mr. Kwon. You will become a father soon since Mrs. Kwon are in two weeks of her pregnancy now. Congratulations!,” the doctor said as she smiled.

 

“Oh, God! This is really a shocking news to me! I will going to be a father soon, babe! Thank you!,” Yuri said enthusiastically and leaned forward to hug her wife. Yoona chuckled and patted on his back gently.

 

“Alright. Mr. Kwon, Mrs. Kwon. Remember on what I have told you just now. Starting from today, arasso?,” the doctor said.

 

“Dae, doc. Thank you so much doc!,” Yuri replied as he got up from his seat, and grabbed the doctor’s hand to shake hands with her.

 

“You’re welcome, Mr. Kwon,” the doctor said while chuckled.

 

After leaving the examine room, Yuri couldn’t help but to hug her wife again, and pecked on her lips.

 

“I’m so happy, babe. I can’t wait for our child to be born. Let’s go home now. I can’t wait to tell my parents about this happy news,” Yuri happily said, still hugging his wife.

 

“I’m happy too, honey. But, can we stop by at the convenience store first? Suddenly I’m craving for an ice cream,” she replied. Yuri suddenly furrows his brows and pulled off the hug.

 

“Babe, remember on what the doctor told you just now? You need to eat healthy food starting from today. No ice cream for you, arasso?,” Yuri said firmly. Yoona pouted and sulked. Yuri sighed as he didn’t have a heart to object his wife’s request.

 

“Aishh.. Arasso, arasso. But, only this time, okay? No more after this,” he said as he finally relented.

 

“Yeay! Thank you, honey!,” she cheered excitedly and leaned closer to peck on Yuri’s cheek. Yuri couldn’t help but to smile. He reached for Yoona’s hand, and entwined their hands together while walking out of the hospital.

“Aww.. congratulations, you two! We are happy to know it! Let’s celebrate this good news with your parents, sweetie,” Mrs. Kwon said as she hugged her daughter-in-law.

 

“Thank you, mommy. Yuri is more than excited to know that I’m pregnant. While we were at the convenience store just now, he was looking at the baby’s stuffs like milk bottle and pacifier,” Yoona replied while glancing at her husband. Yuri winked at her, causing the latter chuckled.

 

“Who doesn’t, sweetie? Your daddy was like that when his Hyukjun hyung was born as our first child. He bought so many baby stuffs, including unnecessary stuffs because he was so excited in welcoming his first born child into this world,” Mrs. Kwon said.

 

“I’m not going follow dad’s step, mom. I am a wise buyer, you know,” Yuri proudly said.

 

“Huh, really? Wait till your child is born, then you will know,” Mrs. Kwon replied as she scoffed, earning laughters from her both son and daughter-in-law.

 

“Yoong, call your mommy and daddy. Tell them that we will be having our dinner at the restaurant in W Hotel tonight. I will try to contact Hyukjun and ask him whether they're able to join our dinner tonight,” Mrs. Kwon said.

 

“Dae, mommy. I will call them right now,” Yoona replied as she excused herself to make phone calls to her parents.

Later, at W Hotel

 

“Thank you for coming, Im,” Mr. Kwon welcomes his in-law the moment he entered inside the restaurant which the Kwons have made their dinner reservation earlier.

 

“Yun hwa ssi, let’s sit here,” Mrs. Kwon waved her hand at Yoona’s mother, gesturing her to come towards their table. Yoona’s mother waved at her back, and greets her daughter with a hug before before she went to the table.

 

“Congratulations, sweetie, Yul,” she congratulated her daughter and her son-in-law.

 

“Thank you, mommy, omonim,” Yoona and Yuri replied in unison.

 

“Come, let’s have our dinner first, omonim,” Yuri said as he and Yoona led her towards the table.

 

“Hyukjun and her family are not coming?,” Mr. Im asked his in-law.

 

“Ah, yeah. They couldn’t make it because Nara is working until late night. Her company will have an audit on tomorrow. Hyukjun have to take care of Janghyuk tonight,” Mrs. Kwon replied.

 

“Oh, I see,” he nodded.

 

“Alright, shall we start our dinner first? I’m afraid our soon-to-be mother here is hungry and needs to feed her child too,” Mr. Kwon jokingly said, causing the rest laughed. Yoona sheepishly smiled as she indeed was really hungry at that time.

 

“But, before we start, I would like to congratulate to our daughter-in-law, Yoong and our son who are going to be parents soon. Thank you Yoong for giving us another grandchild. We are really looking forward and couldn’t wait for him or her to be born into this world. Again, congratulations to both of you,” he said.

 

“Thanks, daddy,” Yoona and Yuri thanked him in unison.

 

“Im? Yunhwa ssi? Do you have anything to say to them?,” Mr. Kwon asked. Mr. Im glancing at his ex-wife, and she gestured him to proceed.

 

“Ermm.. yeah, I have some words to say to my daughter,” Mr. Im replied. Mr. Kwon gesturing him to continue.

 

“Congratulations to my lovely daughter, Yoongie. Please be healthy and be happy always. Be a good mother to your child. Give him or her as much love as you can, arasso?,” Mr. Im said, smiling warmly towards his daughter.

 

“D-dae, daddy,” Yoona replied sadly. Yuri immediately grabbed her hand and caressing it with his thumb. He knew his wife was a bit sensitive lately about anything which related to her parents. “Maybe because of her pregnancy, I guess,” he thought.

 

“Yunhwa ssi, do you have anything to say to Yoong?,” Mr. Kwon asked.

 

“Ermm.. Dae. Yoong, my beloved daughter. Be a good mother to your child, arasso? You can always learn from your mother-in-law on how to become a good mother to your child. I will always be here whenever you need my support. And, to Yul also, thank you for marrying my daughter. Be a good father to your child too. Don’t spoil him or her too much, arasso?,” she said with a smile.

 

“Dae, omonim,” Yuri replied with a grin, causing the rest chuckled, except his wife. She was busy wiping her tears, feeling overwhelmed with her mother’s heartfelt words. Yuri couldn't help but to feel sorry for his wife. He leaned closer and side hugging her, patting her shoulder gently as he tried to soothe her from crying more.

 

“Aigoo.. See what have you two done with Yoong? She cried a lot since her wedding day until now. Sorry Im, Yunhwa ssi, I’m just kidding,” Mr. Kwon said jokingly.

 

“Mianhae, daddy, mommy. I’m a bit sensitive these days, maybe because of my pregnancy,” Yoona said as she smiled apologetically. Her parents and parents in-law just chuckled over her words.

 

“It’s okay, Yoong ah. We as mothers understand on your condition right now. Guys knows nothing about pregnancy, though,” Mrs. Kwon replied while glaring at her husband. Mr. Kwon raised his two hands in defeat.

 

“Alright, let’s eat our dinner first,” Mr. Kwon announced, and gesturing the waiter to come to their table and served the food and drinks.

After bid both of their parents goodbye, the YoonYul couple then heading towards their home. Their new home to be exact. The house was a wedding gift from Mr. Kwon to his son and his daughter-in-law. He also gave the same gift to his elder son, Hyukjun. It’s a two-storey bungalow, complete with swimming pool and small garden at the backyard. The bungalow located at Cheongdam-dong, the most richest area in Seoul. Yuri couldn’t object from receiving the gift as it was a tradition for the Kwon family. His father also received the same gift from his grandparents for their wedding, the mansion which they were staying until now.

 

“What a long day, huh?,” Yuri said while unbuckled the seatbelt. He did the same for his wife.

 

“Thanks, honey. Yeah, I feel tired. Can I just skip washing up and go straight to bed?,” she replied while stretching her arms and yawned.

 

“You want me to help you washing up?,” Yuri asked in concerned. Yoona nodded. “Arasso. Let’s get inside first,” he said as he got off the car, and dashed towards the passenger’s door to open the door for his wife. Yuri then locked his car and put his arm around his wife’s shoulder, while Yoona lazily sneaked her arm around his waist. Yuri giggled while ruffled his wife’s hair and they walked towards the door.

 

“Do you want to drink something before you sleep?,” Yuri asked Yoona the moment he slipped his body inside the cover. Yoona just shook her head with her closed eyes. “Arasso. I put the water bottle at the side table just in case if you feel thirsty,” he said.

 

“Okay,” she replied. “Kish..,” she pouted her lips, still with her closed eyes. Yuri chuckled on her childish act and leaned closer to kiss her lips.

 

“Good night, babies. Sleep well,” Yuri said to Yoona while caressing her stomach. Yoona couldn’t help but to giggle after hearing the word ‘babies’ as he referred to herself and their baby.

Five months later, at the hospital

 

“Mrs. Kwon, as you can see here, your baby is developing normally. This is your baby’s heartbeat, face, and your baby’s tiny hands here. If you’re lucky then we can see your baby’s part, so that we can know your baby’s gender today,” the sonographer (person who carrying out the scan) said while pointing at the black and white moving 3D image on the computer screen and her other hand rubbing the scan tool on Yoona’s bloated stomach. The excited parents-to-be decided to have an anomaly scan (20 weeks pregnancy) as to check on their baby’s development and also to know their baby’s gender.

 

“Chincha?,” she asked the sonographer excitedly. She nodded with a smile. She the keep on rubbing the scan tool on her stomach, and suddenly she stopped.

 

“There. This area is your baby’s area,” she said while pointing at the monitor screen. “Let me zoom this area first,” she said as she moved her hand expertly on the keyboard. “Alright, I will print this image for you and then I will explain it to you and your husband later, okay?,” she said while gesturing her assistant to help Yoona.

 

“Dae,” she replied. After getting assisted, Yoona then fixed her maternity gown and walked towards the sonographer’s desk. She took her seat and waiting for her to be ready to explain to them. She then asked her assistant to call Yuri to come inside the examine room.

 

“Mr. and Mrs. Kwon, as you can see here, after I examined the 3D and 4D images,” she said while showing the monitor. “I have studied that your baby’s lung, heartbeat, kidneys are perfectly normal. There are no problems or abnormalities detected in your baby’s bodies, and congratulations, your baby is healthy,” she continued.

 

“Chincha? We are happy to know that,” Yuri said excitedly while grabbing his wife’s hand and caressing it gently.

 

“Alright. So, after my thorough examination, here, as you can see, your baby’s area here,” she pointed at the 3D image which she printed earlier. Yoona and Yuri immediately looked at the image in blurred expression as they didn’t understand the image structure since it’s not very clear. “You will have a baby boy,” she said, causing the couple stunned.

 

“A baby boy?,” Yoona exclaimed. The sonographer nodded as she smiled.

 

“Omo! A mini me! Kwon Junior!,” Yuri said excitedly. The sonographer chuckled in amusement.

 

“Here. This is his face. Can you see whom he’s resembles to?,” she said. Yuri and Yoona immediately looked at the image and focused on their baby’s face as had been told. Yoona’s lips slowly formed a smile.

 

“He resembles you, honey. Look, he has a sharp nose and small lips, just like yours,” Yoona said smilingly.

 

“You’re right, jagiya. Oh, God! I’m so excited!,” he exclaimed. Yoona couldn’t help but to smile while looking at her excited husband.

 

“So, I will put the 3D image inside the envelope and you can keep it. You can come by in another two months to do the second and final anomaly scan,” she said.

 

“Dae. Thank you, Mrs. Lee,” Yoona and Yuri replied and thanked her in unison.

 

“You’re welcome. Here’s the envelope,” she said while handed the envelope to Yoona. The couple then bowed to her before they left the room.

 

“You were smiling from ear to ear since we left the room,” Yoona said to her husband while walking hand in hand to the parking lot.

 

“Who doesn’t, babe? Knowing that we will having a baby boy soon, I can’t wait to do lots of shopping on baby boy’s stuffs. And, I plan to hire an interior designer to design our baby’s room. And, of course, it will be a Mickey Mouse character theme,” he replied enthusiastically.

 

“A Mickey Mouse? You have got to be kidding me, honey ah,” Yoona said while squinting her eye at Yuri.

 

“Huh? Why not? He’s my son, and I can do whatever I want on him. Besides, he’s my photocopy though. You said it just now that he looks like me,” Yuri stated. Yoona cupped and laughed. Yuri looked at her while furrowing his brows.

 

“Arasso, arasso. Do whatever you want. I won’t stop you. He’s your mini Kwon,” Yoona said in defeat over her husband’s childish act. Yuri couldn’t help but to grin widely.

 

“Mini Kwon, I like that,” he said. Yoona just chuckled and slowly went inside the car. After both of them in the car, Yuri then drove straight to their home.

The Day

 

“Mrs. Kwon, you need to keep breath in and breath out before you push harder,” the doctor instructed. Yoona followed on what the doctor said and her face scrunched over the pain she experienced. Yuri who was sitting beside his wife since she got admitted into the labour room never fails to whisper some encouraging words to her while looking at her worriedly.

 

“You can do it, baby, you can do it,” he chanted the words. Yoona groaned in pain every time she tried to push. After so much effort and unbearable pain she had been through, suddenly they heard a faint crying sound coming from underneath her.

 

“Mrs. Kwon, Mr. Kwon, congratulations! Your son is finally meet the world. Here,” the doctor said while carrying the little Kwon in her hands and showing the baby to the new parents.

 

“Oh my God! He’s so cute, jagiya!,” Yuri said with mixed feelings. His eyes never left the cutest little one. Yoona, as usual, being a crybaby as she couldn’t stop crying the moment her eyes landed on her son.

 

“Alright. We need to cleaning him up first. After we have done with the last process here, you can meet your little one soon,” the doctor said as she handed the baby to the nurse.

 

After the doctor and her team have done with the final process, they transferred Yoona back to the V.I.P ward at the hospital. The hospital management has already reserved a V.I.P ward for the Kwon family because Yuri’s father was one of the board of directors of the hospital.

 

All of their family members were at the guest’s waiting room, waiting their turn to visit a newbie mother once she got back into the ward.

 

“Aww.. where’s our little one? I can’t wait to see him,” Mr. Kwon said. Yoona was lying on the bed with her eyes half closed while Yuri were by her side, busy wiping his wife’s face with wet towel.

 

“Shh.. lower your voice, yeobo. Yoong is resting right now,” Mrs. Kwon whispered to her husband while slapping his arm.

 

“KNOCK! KNOCK!”

 

The door slowly opened, and the nurse hold the door to let the other nurse entered while carrying the baby.

 

“Mrs. Kwon, this is your son. I put him here so that you can start feeding him. You know how to do it, right?,” the nurse said.

 

“Yes. Thank you,” Yoona replied with a weak voice. The nurse put the baby on Yoona’s right side with the help of Yuri.

 

“Mr. Kwon, if anything happen please call us. We will leave the baby with you, and we will come back at night to check on the baby and his mother,” the nurse said.

 

“Dae. Thank you, ma’am,” he replied and bowed. The nurses bowed at him back and at Yuri’s parents before they left the room.

 

“Oh my God! Our grandson is so cute!,” Mr. Kwon whispered.

 

“You can talk as usual, dad, no need to whisper,” Yuri said, causing Yoona and his mother giggled.

 

“Can I hold him first, Yul, Yoong?,” Mrs. Kwon asking for permission.

 

“Sure you can, mom,” Yuri replied as he got up and carefully scooped the little Kwon’s body from the bed, and carried him into his arms. Yuri kissed at his son’s cheeks before he handed him to his mother.

 

“Omo! He really looks like you, Yul ah,” his mother said excitedly the moment the little Kwon being transferred into her arms. She leaned her face closer to kiss the baby’s cheek.

 

“Of course, mom. I’m his daddy though,” he proudly replied while winked at his wife. Yoona just smiled in return.

 

“Can I hold him?,” Mr. Kwon’s turn to ask.

 

“Sure, dad,” Yuri replied. His mother then carried the little Kwon and walked towards his father.

 

“Hold him like this, yeobo,” Mrs. Kwon said while showing him on how she supports the baby with her arms to her husband. Mr. Kwon nodded understandingly and just copied on what his wife did the moment her wife put the baby into his arms. He was stunned and stood still like a statue while staring lovingly at the little angel in his arms.

 

“My cute and handsome grandson. Welcome to the world, Kwon Junho,” Mr. Kwon whispered, but loud enough for the rest to hear his whisper.

 

“Kwon Junho? I like that name, dad,” Yuri said smilingly. He still didn’t have any idea on what to name his son, but his father’s idea to name his son ‘Junho’ really gained his attention and interest. He really likes it.

 

“Jun and Ho in Hangul means talented, handsome, bright, summer, sky, and heaven. Those meaning really resembles your daddy’s personality, Junho ah,” Mr. Kwon said as he leaned his face closer to kiss his grandson’s cheek.

 

“What about you, jagiya? Do you really like his name? Kwon Junho?,” Yuri asked his wife. Yoona just nodded and smiled as she was in the same boat with Yuri.

 

“I like it too, yeobo. Junho sounds so manly, and have a strong personality too,” Mrs. Kwon said.

 

“Alright. I will register his name later,” Yuri said. Mr. Kwon then walked towards Yuri and carefully transferred the little Junho’s body into his father’s arms.

 

“Junho ya, be a good boy to daddy and mommy, arachi (all right)?,” Yuri said softly to his son. Suddenly little Junho’s lips curved into a smile, causing his father widened his eyes in surprise.

 

“Omo! Junho smiled at me!,” he exclaimed excitedly. The Kwon senior quickly rushed towards Yuri to see the baby’s miracle act. Little Junho indeed was smiling from time to time.

 

“Aigoo.. My brilliant grandson! He really listens you well, Yul ah,” Mr. Kwon said.

 

“Honey, can you please take his smiling photo for me?,” Yoona said with a weak voice.

 

“Sure, babe. Mom, can you please take Yoong’s phone and take Junho’s smiling photo?,” Yuri replied and asked for his mother’s help.

 

“Arasso,” Mrs. Kwon said as she walked towards the side table and took Yoona’s phone. She then approached her son and in standby mode, she waits until Junho starting to smile again.

 

“Junho ah, keep on smiling, sweetie,” Yuri said softly to his son. As like he listens to his father’s request, he eventually smiled. Mrs. Kwon didn’t waste her time and started to take her grandson’s smiling photo.

 

“Aigoo.. Good boy!,” she said while taking photos. While she was busy taking the photos of her grandson, suddenly they heard a knocking sound on the door. All heads, except baby Junho turned towards the door.

 

“Sorry, Yoong, Yul, we are late. I need to pick up your mother from her shop, and we have been trapped in traffic jam” Mr. Im said as he pushed the door slowly and entered inside, while Yoona’s mother followed from behind. They then bowed to the Kwon senior.

 

“Omonim! Abonim! It’s okay. Thank you for coming,” Yuri said smilingly. “Look, your grandson is here,” Yuri said excitedly while showing his son to his parents-in-law. The Ims immediately walked towards him.

 

“Aigoo.. He’s so cute. Congratulations both of you!,” Mr. Im said while leaning closer and caressing little Junho’s cheek.

 

“Omonim, you want to hold Junho?,” Yuri asked.

 

“Junho? He got his name already?,” Mr. Im replied.

 

“Daddy named him as Kwon Junho. We liked the name, abonim, omonim,” Yuri said while glancing at Yoona. She just smiled and nodded.

 

“Junho ya. This is your Im grandparents,” Mr. Im said while caressing the little one’s head. Yoona’s mother leaned closer and kissed his cute and soft cheeks.

 

“You want to hold Junho?,” she asked. Mr. Im quickly nodded, and his act causing the rest laughed at him. Yoona’s mother carefully lifted and put the little one into his arms.

 

“Yunhwa ssi. We managed to capture Junho’s smile just now. Look,” Mrs. Kwon excitedly said while showing the photos she captured through Yoona’s phone to Yoona’s mother. The mothers giggled while looking at the photo of their grandson.

 

“Aigoo.. So cute. He knew how to act well in front of us, huh?,” Yoona’s mother said.

 

“Of course, though. He’s a brilliant and bright baby, just like his name,” Mrs. Kwon replied.

 

The newbie parents feeling proud and smiled in contented while watching their parents happily chatting while holding their son.
