CH.14 My Best Thing
Love Footprints
Guigui stared at the guy who was standing next to her, she wondered how can things change in an instance and how can she walks with a man that isn't Taecyeon. How can they make up that kind of silly rule? Pairing up people who aren't a couple, leaving the half part with bitterness and disappointment for not being able to spend time with their lover.
Her eyes moved onto Taecyeon, who was frowning and obviously feeling uncomfortable by that sudden turnover. Seeing him with a girl even if it's her bestfriend didn't made her feel better as she realizes that both will make a good pair because of their outstanding physical appearance. For the first time in her life, she hated the feelings that were poisoning her mind.
"Aren't you going to the haunted house?" a boy who was behind the line booth yelled at them "You're blocking the way"
Those words woke her up from the new insecurities that she was starting to feel, she cursed that stupid attraction and the people who made up those meaningless rules as she started to regret to have organized that annoying double date.
"Let's go" Nickhun guided her to the main door of the haunted house, she reluctantly followed him but before stepping inside she casted a last glance into Taecyeon's direction feeling extremely sad for not being able to be with him "Sorry if something like this happened" Nickhun whispered in the darkness, making his voice re-echo in the silent and scary place.
"You don't have to say sorry. It's not your fault besides I can't under...Ahhhhh!!" she suddenly screamed when the door behind them suddenly shutted, creating a loud noise, making them startle for the surprise.
"Gwenchana?" Nickhun placed his hand on her shoulder, silently assuring her that she's not alone "Walk behind me" he then added as the two started to take step by step, being extremely careful about their surroundings. He checked the frightening place with his eyes wide open, paying attention to what will appear in front of them.
Not far from them there were two closed door, he grabbed the first door knob and twisted it, backing up a bit, getting himself ready to what will happen. In front of them there was a room setted into a one of those normal hospital rooms, the only difference is the place was dark and dirty and the surgeon's instruments were exposed on the silver table placed beside the white bed making the place creepier than it is already.
They slowly walked inside the room and noticed a mirror, not far from them, with something written on it. He took big steps, with GuiGui following him behind, and read loud the words written in red on the mirror.
"I'm behind you.." those three words sent shivers down through his spinal cord, making him sweat cold. In reflection to the mirror, right behind GuiGui he saw a little girl dressed in white while holding a teddy bear, her face was covered with her long black hair making it difficult for him to recognize the facial trait of the little girl "Aish chincha!" he automatically exclaimed, surprised by the sudden appearance of the oh-so-called ghost
"What's wrong?" GuiGui looked behind her and startled for a second by the creepy view that appeared in front of her eyes "Are you okay?" she whispered to him, somehow she wasn't that scared by that sudden appearance but she hates the feeling where they suddenly scary her, freaking her out "Let's get out of her soon" she added as she starts to feel uneasy by that dark place.
They silently went out of the room and walked the long dark corridor, wondering where was the exit to that place. A sudden noise re-echoed in the corridor, making them open their eyes wide as they look around them, checking what and where that noise came from.
All of a sudden GuiGui felt a hand grabbing her ankle, making her scream all her soul out. The doors of the rooms opened and closed in sync, Nickhun grabbed GuiGui's wrist and ran away from that terrifying view.
Both of them were heavily breathing, panting from the rush race that they just did. While resting, trying to regain their normal breathing and calming down the crazy heart beats of their hearts, a zombie appeared from nowhere making Nickhun swear "!" for a second he felt that his heart skipped a beat. They started to run away once again, desperately searching for the exit of that haunted place. Without thinking twice he opened a door and they were welcomed by a strong light, blinding them.
They looked around dumbfounded, the place wasn't dark anymore. Taecyeon and Mei were surprisingly looking at them, with an astonished expression printed on their faces. When Nickhun and GuiGui finally realized that they got out of that frightening place safetly, they both released a soundful sigh, relieved that they finally found the exit and escaped.
"Are you okay?" Mei stared at GuiGui then her eyes moved to Nickhun "You look so pale" she commented, hearing him heavily breathing.
Taecyeon lowered his eyes and looked at Nickhun's hand grabbing his girlfriend's wrist, he couldn't help himself but frown at that view. As if his friend can read his mind, he looked at the direction of Taecyeon's eyes and realized that he was still holding onto GuiGui. He harshly let her go and touched his neck, feeling uneasy in that fleeting moment.
"Why it took you so long?" he asked, the cold tone of his voice reflected the uncontrollable annoyance that he was feeling "You went first but you came out later than us"
"We couldn't find the exit easily, how did you manage to find it before us?" GuiGui asked to Mei, clueless about Taecyeon's irritated mood.
"Well, there were two doors after you walk inside the place right? We entered the left one"
"Ah! We chose the right one"
"Probably that's the reason, though it was a bit scary we managed to get out of the place faster" Mei stared at Taecyeon and smiled at him. At that view GuiGui felt uncomfortable, it was like the two got closer after spending a little time together. But she knows that she was uselessly feeling jealous as Mei is interested to Nickhun and not to her boyfriend, somehow she felt guilty for doubting about her friend's behaviour.
Taecyeon suddenly grabbed her hand, holding it tight. She looked at it and then moved her gazed to Taecyeon's face, it's funny how they were apart for just few minutes and she missed already his presence and the warmth of his hand "Come here" she said, waving her right hand, giving him a sign to come closer to her
"What?" he looked around him, was she planning to give him an another kiss? In front of their friends? "GuiGui.." he paused and then cleared his voice "You can kiss me later.." he whispered, covering the left angle of his mouth with his hand, trying to hide what he just said to her
"Ani oppa.." she chuckled, finding cute that he misunderstood her words. She then get up on her toes, going closer to his ear "I missed you.." she sweetly whispered, making Taecyeon blush by her sudden confession.
"Ah is that so?" a wide smile appeared upon his face, brightening up his unsteady mood. She has this undefined power to melt his heart with just three simple words. She didn't need to do anything further to cheer him up, her cute and innocent behaviour were enough for him.
His smile changed into a sweet one as he looks at her in the eyes and was amazed whenever she stares at her. Not just because of her outstanding beauty, but because of the fact that everything he ever wanted is now standing right in front of him
"Hmm?" GuiGui blinked her eyes, confused about Taecyeon's gaze but in response he just shook his head and squeezed her hand tighter. She stared at their clasped hands and see how perfectly shaped they are together, she can feel his warmth and rough skin rubbing towards hers. A pleased and embarassed smile hinted her lips as she was being particularly sensitive and attentive to everything.
"Kaja!" he enthusiastically said, feeling extremely happ and fully charged
"To where?" she lifted her head to look up at him
"Remember when we did the dart game? Back when we first went to the amusement park?"
"Uhuh"
"I just won that tiny stuffed toy for you, right?"
"Yes, Hamtaro" she replied, as she recalls the cartoon character of the stuffed toy that he is talking about
"How about we try playing that game again and this time win a bigger one?"
"Really?" he loved how her eyes shines everytime he says something that captures her attention "Okay let's go!" she happily said then a second later turned her head to look at the two behind them "How about them?"
"It's okay if they come with us, just this time" he turned around and told to Nickhun and Mei about his plans. The two enthusiastically accepted his suggestion and they searched for the dart or gun shooting stands to divert their attention into something else.

Meanwhile in Korea, Hyun Joong was taking a short break from a photoshoot for Basic House which he personally endorse. He sat in a vacant chair, waiting for the staff to rearrange the set and surfed the net using his mobile phone. He saw that MBC station broadcasted the first episode of Global We got Married Reunion, curious to watch Taecyeon and GuiGui's cuts he opened the video and watched the first 3 minutes of it.
"Kim Hyun Joong-ssi annyeong haseyo" the young lady shyly greeted him followed by a cameraman "Sorry to disturb you on your break, we're from MBC Section TV"
"Oh!" he abruptly stopped the video and put his phone inside the pocket of his light grey pants "Annyeong-haseyo" he bowed his head, feeling dumbfounded by that sudden stop by.
"You were surprised, right?" the girl laughed at his priceless expression "Were you expecting someone else to visit you?"
"No, not at all. I was peacefully taking my short break until you came to visit me" he replied and smiled to the girl
"Nowadays you're really busy filming CFs, photoshoots and also for Barefoot Friends. Do you still have time for yourself?"
He cutely tilted his head, analyzing her question "I do still have time for myself, like a minute ago before you guys came" the cameraman chuckled at his answer "Like when I eat alone at my place, sleeping, taking a shower...those things requires time to spend for myself" he hilariously added, this time the interviewer laughed at his 4-dimensional answer.
"Many girls are wondering what kind of girl is your ideal type..I bet many will tune in this station just to hear your answer.."
"So you came just to increase the viewer ratings?" he hilariously asked back, to liven up the atmosphere
"No no..." the girl shaked her hands while laughing at Hyun Joong's statement "So Hyun Joong-ssi what kind of girl is your ideal type? Is it still Lee Hyori?"
Caught off guard by the insistence of the interviewer he cleared his voice trying to give a good answer "Who doesn't like Lee Hyori noona?"
"You're being vague and this is suspicious" the girl more
"I guess I have to answer until I finish my short breaktime" he pouted his lips, this time thinking carefully about the answer "Girls who have a bright smile is the best because it could lighten up your day whenever you have a bad mood. If she is also funny, kind and pretty it would be perfect" he paused for a while, thinking about a certain person
"It looks like your ideal girl really changed"
"You think so?" he chuckled at the interviewer's words
"Your description was very detailed, by any chance do you have someone in your mind?" the girl was anticipating his answer, excited to know the truth behind his statement about his ideal girl.
"Hmm.." he nodded while making that undefined sound, at his shy and short answer the young interviewer couldn't help but scream at his sudden and honest confession.
"Now we are all curious to know who's this lucky girl that caught your attention" but to their bad luck the staff called Hyun Joong to resume the photoshooting "The time was a bit short but thank you for staying with us"
"Thank you for visiting me" he smiled and looked straight to the camera "Annyeong~~!!!"

"Woooaaa you're so good at playing darts!" Mei praised Nickhun for hitting consecutively the balloons. She cheered on him, feeling excited to receive the prize "You scored 1500 points! That's great!"
The girl gave Nickhun two stuffed toys as prizes for his skills at playing darts. He gave the teddy bear to Mei and the other one he was handing it to GuiGui when Taecyeon sharply glared at him "Jigeum mweo hae?" he asked in korean, so the girls won't be able to understand
"I was just giving one to her since they gave me two stuffed toys" he answered back
"I will give one to her by myself, just give those two to her friend" he said, annoyed by Nickhun's behaviour. The two boys looked at each other's eyes, silently battling for few seconds until GuiGui's voice caught their attention.
"Oppa?" upon hearing her calling out for him, he moved his gaze on her "I'm going to win that stuffed toy" he pointed onto a smiling white plushy cat
"Chincha?" her eyes sparkled when she saw the cute stuffed animal that he's pointing at "Taecyeon oppa..fightiiiiiiiing!" she cheered on me, hoping that he will really get it for her.
Before throwing the first dart, he took a fast glimpse on Nickhun. He was puzzled by his friend's behaviour, he can't understand if he was just being gentle or his purpose was something else. From his point of view his kindness towards GuiGui was going overboard, Taecyeon didn't want to negatively think about him because they've known each other for so long and he treats him like a brother but in that moment he couldn't help but doubt about him.
Probably he was being an overly jealous and protective boyfriend but he can't stand someone being too nice to his girlfriend, more than what he can do. With that fighting spirit he threw the darts and concentrated on the game. He needed to win that plushy cat and give it to her.
A drop of sweat dropped from his forehead down to his face, it was more nerve-wracking than the first time he played that game.
"Congratulations!" the girl clapped her hand "What do you want as a prize?"
"Oppa you scored 2000 points!" her smile was even brighter than the sun "So cool!!"
When the girl handed him the stuffed toy in turn he gave it to GuiGui, he was satisfied about the result of the game and also satisfied to see her bright smile as she looks at the cute plushy animal that he won for her.
"There's something that I wanna ride" he said while looking at her "Since it's getting dark it will be our last ride for today" he moved his eyes to Mei "I'm kidnapping your friend for a while and will turn her back to you later" after saying those words that made Mei smile, he grabbed her hand and walked away leaving the the two all by themselves.
"What ride is it?" GuiGui asked while holding tight the stuffed toy "The roller-coaster?"
"Ani.." he shaked his head while searching for the attraction that he was talking about "There it is!" he then exclaimed when he finally found it
The two stopped in front of the ride that Taecyeon chose. GuiGui lifted her head to look at the colorful ferris wheel, a smile hinted her lips as she wanted to ride that attraction as well. She wondered if he can read her mind or they have some sort of telepathy to communicate with each other without saying out loud their thoughts.
"Oppa is really amazing" she commented while they were going inside the cabin
"Wae?"
"Nothing.. I think that you're simply amazing" she looked at his astonished face while sitting next to her.
On the other side Taecyeon was trying his best to be romantic. He's really not the romantic type who organize events and do stuffs for his other half but GuiGui definitely changed him, he can't even recognized himself anymore. Despite all these unexpected changes, he improved into a better person.
For the whole day he was trying to find an excuse just to be alone with her, after all it was their first real date but to his surprise and expectation it didn't go to the way that he planned it to be. Instead they had their first double date and it wasn't funny at all, atleast for him no.
He even acted in pain after the roller coaster ride just to be with her but to his misfortune it lead to an another situation that made him feel uneasy. So to complete their date he chose to ride the ferris wheel, a romantic and classic place for couples to spend their last minutes alone. The cabins only seat two people at a time and are perfectly private with no chance for interruptions, it also provide a romantic view of the city and amusement park lights, and encourage couples to share their feelings for each other.
He breathed on the window of the cabin and wrote something on it, in chinese characters he wrote "Wo Ai Ni" then looked at her, his eyes clicked onto her face. The breath whooshes out of his body and everything freezed for a nanosecond, as though he is looking at her through a camera lenses, zoomed in all the way. The world pausing for that tiny span of time between opening and closing of the shutter.
With the breathtaking view of the city and the beautiful dark sky above them, Taecyeon slowly lowered his head tilting it to the left side. As his lips lightly touched hers, kissing her sweetly he felt something melt inside that hurt in an exquisite way. All his longings, all his dreams and sweet anguish, all the loneliness that slept deep within him disappeared in an instance, everything was transformed and enchanted, everything made sense. Falling in love with her is the best thing that ever happened in his life..
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
The ferris wheel that TaecGui ride on my fic.. just looking at the picture is so romantic, right? My favourite part is when he wrote Wo Ai Ni in the window...though I liked everything about this chapter haha
I found it hard to write the part where they went inside the haunted house... I don't like scary things so it was a new challenge for me to try to write something creepy..
About the stuffed toy that he won for her on the dart game, I chose a cat because of Taec mania for cats..here it is
