7 Minutes In Heaven

Verse

She counted the days she’s spent with Jessica. Five. Five days of pure delight...with a dash of violence because it’s Jung Jessica we’re talking about. She wore a sad smile when she remembered that in two days time she’d be flying back to Seoul. Miles away from Jessica again.

Jessica came back from the bathroom and jumped on her bed, startling the shorter girl and waking her up from her daydream. She giggled cutely and Taeyeon just had to pinch her nose. “You’re really cute.”

“I know.” She lay down beside Taeyeon and she smiled at how safe she feels when the latter wraps her short arms around her. She was just starting to get comfortable with the hug when Taeyeon started planting kisses on her face. Each kisses lasting longer than the first.

“What have you done to me?”

Jessica opened her eyes only to see the girl staring back at her with half-lidded eyes. “What?”

“It’s going to be really hard for me to go back home and be away from you again.” She cupped Jessica’s cheek and it with her thumb. “Is this even normal? Do you feel this thing in your stomach? Like you’re going to get sick but it actually feels good.”

“Butterflies?”

“I don’t know. How does that feel?”

“There’s this funny feeling in your tummy. It’s like tons of butterflies are in there, tickling your insides.”

“You make me feel butterflies in my tummy then. I could get used to this.”

“Don’t. Are you forgetting that you have to go back to Seoul?”

Taeyeon groaned which Jessica found to be extremely adorable. “No, don’t remind me that.”

“Is it going to make you less upset if I tell you that I...” Jessica trailed off. She laughed seeing Taeyeon grew impatient.

“You what? Don’t leave me hanging like that.”

“Well, I decided to fly to South Korea so I could spend more time with you. I don’t have anything to do here anyways so—“

She wasn’t able to finish what she was going to say when a pair of warm lips moved against hers. “Thank you,” Taeyeon breathlessly said when they broke the kiss, “For making me happy. For making me feel this way.”

“You’re being cheesy, dea—dork.”

“It okay to call me ‘dear.’ I heard you last night.”

“We’d sound like an old couple.”

“I honestly would prefer ‘dear’ than ‘Lord Farquad’ or ‘oompa loompa.’ Besides, what’s wrong with sounding like an old couple?”

Jessica hit her tummy and laughed. “That’s because you’re an ahjumma.

---

Taeyeon stared at the girl who was sulking. Her girlfriend realized that the flight from LA to Seoul was going to be long and she and Taeyeon wouldn’t even be sitting next to each other.

Jessica was cursing herself for purchasing a first class ticket and for not knowing that Taeyeon would be flying coach. Taeyeon moved closer to her and held her hand but she didn’t say anything. She was afraid that if she opens to say something, she’d end up laughing at Jessica’s pitiful and oh-so-adorable expression.

When it was time to board the plane, Taeyeon stood up and was supposed to pull Jessica with her but the latter refused to move.

“Can’t you just upgrade so we could sit next to each other? I could pay.”

“You don’t need to do that. We’ll be seeing each other once we land.”

“But it’s such a long flight.”

“You’ll survive.” Taeyeon laughed at the dejected face of her girlfriend.

Jessica reluctantly let go of her hand and stared at Taeyeon’s retreating figure.

“Miss,” a voice disrupted her thoughts, “your boarding pass please.”

“Uhm, can I switch seats with someone who’s flying coach?”

“I’m afraid you can’t do that, Ma’am.”

She bit her lip as she came up with a probable lie. “But it’s really important. That little woman beside me earlier needs someone to travel with. She needs to take her medicines and I need to be there to make sure she’d take them.”

“Ma’am, I assure you that we’re going to take care of every passenger in this plane.”

Jessica sighed. “You see, she has trust issues. She’s not going to take her meds if someone she doesn’t trust gives it to her. She’s a bit of a...cuckoo,” she whispered.

“We can’t really—“

“I’ll talk to whoever’s sitting next to her and switch seats. How about that?” The flight attendant hesitantly nodded her head.

Taeyeon, on the other hand, was already settled in her seat. She’s taken out her headphones and was ready to get lost in her own world when the person that was going to sit next to her all throughout the flight nudged her. She looked to her side and was surprised to see Jessica there. “What are you doing here?”

The girl grinned, proud of her convincing skills. “I switched seats with some old geezer. You should be thankful. He didn’t seem like someone you’d want to spend 12 hours in a plane with.”

“How did you—“

Just then the flight attendant Jessica talked to earlier came by and said, “If your friend needs anything, just call us.” She smiled at the two before she left to attend to other passengers.

“Sica, what did you tell her?”

“I said you were sick and that you needed me by your side.”

“Sick? What exactly is this sickness?”

“Love sick.” Jessica laughed. “I said you were a bit of a cuckoo. I can’t believe she bought that.”

“Sica,” Taeyeon whined.

“What? I can be very persuasive.” She held Taeyeon’s hand and leaned back on her seat. She thought of how different the seats from first class to coach are. The seats are less comfortable on coach, that’s a fact but with Taeyeon beside her, caressing the back of her hand with her thumb the 12 hour flight became more bearable.

---

Taeyeon got back to her apartment with a heavy heart. She wanted so badly to stay a bit longer with Jessica but as soon as they landed, she figured they’d have to pretend they didn’t know each other. She wanted another minute to hold her hand and maybe give her a long hug but she knew better.

She was about to step inside her room when she was captured in a head lock. “Unnie, I’ve missed you.”

Taeeon chuckled. “Silly, Yoong. Let go of me.”

The younger Kim did as she was told but proceeded to envelop her sister in a tight hug.

“What have you been up to while I was gone?”

“Stuff.” Yoona pulled away and grinned.

“Have y been slacking?”

“Of course, not.” Yoona changed the topic right away. “What did you do in LA?”

“Stuff.” It was the older Kim’s turn to grin.

Yoona broke out into a huge smile. “Oh, I see how it is. You met someone, didn’t you?”

The older of the two tried hard for her expression to remain neutral as the younger one continued to look for anything that would gie her sister away but eventually gave up. She remembered what she was supposed to ask her sister permission for. “Unnie, we’re going on a trip.”

“By ‘we’ you mean?”

“Yuri, Fany and I.”

“When and you with Fany?”

“We’re good friends, unnie. I already told you that and we’re going tomorrow. We’ll be at Busan for four days and there nights.”

The stupid grin on her sister’s face was enough for her to nod and let her go on that trip. She was immediately wrapped in a tight embrace.

The next morning, she was woken up by Yoona who was getting ready to leave. Her younger sister was in the kitchen, making packed snacks. She saw her struggling on trying to make toast and waffle at the same time so she volunteered to make the waffle.

“You should’ve told me you were leaving this early.”

“Yeah, I forgot to mention that. I was going to wake you up but you looked so tired.” Yoona looked over her shoulder and giggled. “I guess I still managed to disturb your sleep. Sorry, unnie.”

“It’s alright. I kind of miss doing this, preparing your food before you go to school. Do you remember that?”

“You babied me a lot. You still do.”

“Because you’re my baby.” Taeyeon finished making the last waffle and walked towards her sister, kissed her cheek and took over making the toast. “Are they going to pick you up or are you guys going to Busan by train?”

“We’re riding Fany’s car.”

Taeyeon stopped moving. “Is she going to drive? Are you sure she’s not suicidal because of...you know...”

Yoona released a hearty laugh. “Unnie, I told you we’re all good.” Her phone rang and it was her best friend calling. “Hey, Yul.”

“We’re here. Fany’s a bit cranky. I hope you have food.”

“To cheer her up?”

“No because I’m hungry.”

“Okay. I’ll be down in a minute.” Yoona ended the call and started packing the food that she and her sister made.

Taeyeon decided to help her sister bring her things down and to send the trio off. When they’ve loaded all of it in the car, Taeyeon made sure Yoona didn’t forget anything. “Do you have everything you need with you?” Yoona nodded and Taeyeon fixed her sister’s clothes. “This feels like your first day of college all over again.”

Yoona chortled at the memory. Her sister coddling her every chance she gets is the highlight of her teenage years. “We should go before you start bawling your eyes out, unnie.”

“I did not cry.”

Yoona looked at her with narrow eyes. “Yes, you did. We have to go. We don’t want to get caught up in heavy traffic.”

Taeyeon nodded and playfully shoved her sister away to which Yoona responded with a smile. “Be safe. Call me when you guys get there.”

Yoona got inside the car and Taeyeon turned around, heading back to the building but before she could get inside, she felt arms circling around her waist. “I forgot to hug my unnie.”

She turned to face her sister, hugging her back. “Be careful, okay?”

“Yes, Taeyeon-unnie.” The two sisters broke the hug and Taeyeon waited for their car to be out sight. She got back to her apartment and into her room. She was going to go back to sleep but threw that thought away when she read Jessica’s message and had an idea of going to the hotel where her girlfriend has checked in.

She took a quick shower and got on a cab to get to the hotel. She knew which room Jessica was staying at since it was included in the latter’s text message. She knocked at the door and when Jessica opened it, she was surprised to see her girlfriend’s swollen eyes and red nose.

Taeyeon invited herself in and hugged Jessica right away. She understood now why Jessica would always think something terrible happened to her when their conversations ended abruptly. All she could think of at that moment were horrible scenarios that happened while she wasn’t by her girlfriend’s side. “What’s wrong? Did someone hurt you?

Taeyeon gently her hair as the latter shook her head in response. “It’s nothing. I was just watching something.”

Taeyeon took a peek at the television which was already playing the credits. “What were you watching?” She pulled Jessica to the bed and they sat there.

The Notebook.”

She laughed. “There’s nothing worth crying about that.”

“I get emotional sometimes.”

Taeyeon shook her head in disbelief and pulled Jessica closer, hugging her once again. “You got me worried there. Why are you even up so early?”

“I woke up and I couldn’t go back to sleep anymore.”

Tayeon wasn’t sure if it was because she lacked sleep or if Jessica really spoke like a cute little kid. If this was her aegyo then Taeyeon was already considering abandoning the hate wagon of aegyo she got on years ago.

“Why are you up so early?”

“Yoona has this trip with her friends. She left an hour ago. I was woken up when she was preparing their snacks.” Taeyeon held Jessica’s face and ran her thumbs under her eyes. “You need sleep.”

“Look who’s talking.” Jessica poked her cheek and giggled.

“We should sleep then.” Taeyeon moved until she as lying on the bed with Jessica beside her. “Do you have any plans today?”

“Soo wanted to hand out with me. We’re going somewhere later. You?”

“I’m not sure yet.” Taeyeon yawned and soon enough, she was snoozing with an arm draped across Jessica’s waist.

Jessica placed a lingering kiss on her forehead and tried to get more sleep. Having Taeyeon beside her must’ve helped because within minutes she was back to dreamland.

---

“You’re not bringing me to a gay bar, are you?” She asked her cousin. It was lunch time when she was woken up by the incessant ringing of her phone. Sooyoung told her to meet her at her dad’s dental clinic. She opted not to wake Taeyeon up and to leave a note saying she went out to see her cousin and that she’d be back later in the evening.

“Sica, we’ll go there tomorrow. Don’t get too excited. Right now, we’ll go around, look for cute girls and go eat dinner and flirt with our date.”

Jessica cringed hearing her cousin talk like a sleazy old man. She wanted to oppose the idea looking for girls to date but once Sooyoung has decided to do something, she’s going to do it with no regrets. How she wished Sunny and Hyoyeon were there but the two had prior commitments.

Once Sooyoung found a couple of girls to have dinner with, they went to a place that the two girls recommended. They were visibly having fun talking to Sooyoung and Jessica just stuck around like an unwanted extra toe on a foot.

“They have good food here. The bands performing are to die for and it’s quiet because it’s fairly new so that’s a good thing. Not too crowded,” the girl named Yura said. The other girl called Yoonji or Yoojin, Jessica wasn’t sure, nodded and clung onto Sooyoung’s arm.

Jessica checked her phone to see if Taeyeon left another message. Three hours ago, Taeyeon told her that she’s left her hotel room and went back to her place, saying that something came up and that she had to go somewhere.

Sooyoung let the girls place their order which she assumed was her cousin’s weird way of trying to get to the girls’ good side. Yura laughed, for whatever reason, and casually placed her hand on top of Jessica’s thigh to which Jessica tried to shake off. She remembered Sooyung’s words a little earlier and it sent shiver down her spine. “We’re going to get you laid and once you go back to LA, you won’t be ually deprived anymore.”

“So, Jessica, Soo said you’re single.”

“No.” Sooyoung stared at her and she tried to recover from the tiny slip of the tongue. “No, she is not mistaken. I really am single.”

Yura sipped her red iced tea and gave her a meaningful look which creeped Jessica out even more. The girl leaned forward and whispered in her ear, “Maybe we could go back to my place.”

Jessica recoiled. She was not used to girls throwing themselves at her. Yura placed a hand on her lap once again and all she wanted to do was to drag her cousin to the bathroom and strangle her. Jessica faked a laugh and brushed Yura’s hand off of her.

She stared at the stage where three guys were setting up. She blocked off the sound of Yura’s laugh and her cousin’s and what’s-her-face’s voice. She forked a piece of fish and turned her gaze back to the stage. There she was, sitting on a stool and fixing her mic stand. “Taeyeon,” she muttered.

Sooyoung, on the other hand, squealed in delight. “Oh my god! She’s from that band, Na, right? I love her voice. Sica, do you know them?”

Jessica didn’t take her eyes off the girl. “They went to LA once and I was there. I saw them.”

“She’s so tiny and cute,” she heard Yura say and she couldn’t help but feel a little bit upset. Only she should call her tiny and cute.

“Good evening.” Jessica smiled, hearing her girlfriend’s calming voice and seeing her dimpled chin made her happy already.

Taeyeon didn’t say anything after that and she just started blowing everyone away by her singing. While she was singing, her eyes momentarily landed on a certain girl who stood out not because of her blonde hair but because of how she was staring at her. Taeyeon didn’t miss the subtle smile on her face. She smiled and continued singing, throwing occasional glances at her girlfriend.

When the son finished, she talked to the band that was playing with her. “I rarely do covers, much less of a pop song but lately I’ve been reliving those days when I was the one fawning over other singers so the next song I’ll be singing is by a foreign boy band that I really liked when I was a lot younger.”

Jessica was probably the only there who knew what she was talking about.

“When I look at you, I see something rare. A rose that can grow anywhere and there’s no one I know that can compare.”

Jessica could almost hear her girlfriend’s mocking voice, telling her that there was really a Backstreet Boys song thatshe could think about when she sees her. She couldn’t believe she forgot about the movie The Princess’ Diaries.

“What makes you different makes you beautiful. What’s there inside you shines through to me. In your eyes I see all the love I’ll ever need. What makes you different makes you beautiful to me.”

Jessica giggled, remembering that discussion they had the other day. Her cousin looked at her weirdly. “I just remembered something.”

Taeyeon sang three more songs before saying that she was going to take a short break. Jessica abruptly stood up and excused herself. She power-walked her way to where Taeyeon went and pulled her inside the washroom. They got inside a vacant and Jessica didn’t waste a single second. Her lips found its way against the older girl’s.

“You idiot,” Jessica mumbled through the kiss. Taeyeon smiled and partially moved away. “You liked it. Admit it.”

Jessica responded with another long kiss, tongue grazing against Taeyeon’s bottom lip. Taeyen opened , giving way to that soft flesh. Jessica knew how to make a girl feel great just by kissing, Taeyeon concluded.

She starts off gently and let the moment build up and Taeyeon loved that. “I’ve got ten minutes before I get back to the stage,” Taeyoen said when Jessica’s lips left hers and made its way to her jaw.

“Great. We got seven minutes then.” Jessica was breathing harshly through her nose, her lips continuing its assault on her girlfriend’s jaw down to her neck.

“Why...w-why not use up all ten minutes?” Taeyeon placed a hand on top of Jessica’s head.

“We’ve got to fix ourselves before we get out of here.”

Taeyeon nodded. “Seven minutes it is.” She cupped Jessica’s face with both hand and connected their lips again. Taeyeon tried to hold in her moan when the younger girl placed a hand under her shirt.

Jessica’s hand was smooth against her abdomen. It was also cold and it made her tensed. She soon relaxed when that same hand moved slowly and landed at the small of her back. Taeyeon’s hands fell to the side and it amazed her how Jessica’s free hand found her limp ones as she linked them together.

Jessica’s other hand started to move again and she started playing with the clasp of Taeyeon’s bra. Jessica felt her stiffen up again and she smirked. She was having fun teasing Taeyeon.

Taeyeon was going to place her hand on her girlfriend’s back but Jessica moved away. “Seven minutes is up.”

“What? That felt like three. Are you sure?”

Jessica laughed. “We’ll continue later.” She went out of the cubicle with Taeyeon in tow and fixed her make-up. “Did you see my cousin Soo?”

“Is she the one sitting next to you?”

“No, that’s Yura.”

Taeyeon cocked an eyebrow. “Who’s Yura?”

“Some girl Soo met.”

“You’re not on a date with her, are you?”

“I don’t consider it a date.” Jessica smiled and kissed Taeyeon’s lips one more time before getting out and returning to their table.
