Weekend has finally comes. Hyemi stands in front of the mirror. She then sprays some of her favourite perfume. She smells herself. That’s my favourite smells, she thought. She then looks at herself in the mirror. She chooses to wear something a little simple today. Hyemi taps on her phone. It’s 4.10PM on the screen. She clicks iMessage icons and send Luhan a text. 

“See you there.” But there’s no response from Luhan. Hyemi scratch her eyebrows. Luhan must has not yet check his phone. She then walks out of her room and go to living room. Mum is sitting at the living room with Lou. 

“Where are you going to?” Mum asks. She looks at Hyemi from the top to the bottom. Hyemi looks beautiful as always. 

“I’m going out with Luhan for awhile. I’ll be back before 10PM.” Hyemi grins. Mum nods. Hyemi sits and take Lou from mum. She then kiss Lou’s forehead and ruffles Lou’s body. “Mum, why does Lou’s body feels a little warm?” She asks as she holds Lou’s body. 

“I think he’s a little sick. No worries, I’m going to bring him to vet soon with your dad.” Mum consoles Hyemi nods. Hyemi kiss Lou one more time on the forehead and pats Lou’s head. 

“Don’t be sick. Nuna (sister) will be back early, okay?” Hyemi hugs Lou softly. She stands up and approach her mum. “I’m going now. Take care of yourself.” Hyemi kiss her mom on her cheek before she left the house. 

Hyemi checks her phone. There is still no reply from Luhan. Hyemi then slips her phone in her sling bag. She walks toward the bus stop and take a bus to the mall. She sures that Luhan will be there soon. Luhan will not forget since she told him last nigh about today and Luhan does not have any complaints about it. She takes a sit on the seat near the window. She looks outside. It’s weekend, so people tend to go out and enjoy their weekend outside. The bus takes 15 minutes to reach at the mall. Hyemi walks off the bus and looks around. She does not see Luhan anywhere. She then checks her phone again. Still no message and calls from Luhan. It’s 4:40PM. She then checks the movie’s ticket Luhan send to her through emails last night. It will start at 6PM. They have less than 2 hours before the movie starts. Hyemi walks inside the mall. She walks around to look for Mum’s birthday gift by herself. Luhan will come later, so she can go look for Mum’s gift first. 

Hyemi grabs the knitted-muffles hanged. It’s a branded knitted-muffle. Mum will like a warm muffle like this. She continously looks at the other muffle hanged in that store. The price is a bit expensive, but it happens since the quality of the muffle is superb. It has been 45 minutes since she walks around the store. This is the only thing she thinks will suit better with Mum. Mum never mentions anything about what she want. So, it will be a little hard to guess what is best for her. Hyemi slips inside her pocket to checks her phone. It’s 5:35PM, Luhan hasn’t come. There’s no message or calls from him too. The movie will start in another 25 minutes. Hyemi walks to the counter with the muffle. “I want to pay.” Hyemi put the muffle on the counter and take out her purse from the sling bag. She paid for it and walks out of the store. She then dial Luhan’s number. She wonders if Luhan is already here. There’s no answer from Luhan. 

Hyemi heads her step to the cinema. She hasn’t find anyone looks like Luhan here. She then go straight to the counter to print the ticket and buy a small bucket of popcorns. Movie means popcorns. She then sits in front of the cinema, waiting for Luhan. It’s 6:10PM. Luhan hasn’t come. Hyemi decides to call Luhan one more time. But stills, there’s no answer. Hyemi sighed. 

“Is it that hard to tell me you can’t come?” Hyemi mumbles. She close her phone and keep waiting Luhan. She decides to not get inside as she afraid Luhan can’t come in as she is the one who have their ticket. 

1 hour has passed since the movie starts. Hyemi decides to not wait for Luhan and just get inside the cinema. She gets inside when the story has already half shown, so she does not know at all what the story about. She is too upset to think. She munches the popcorns in anger. The movie has finally end. Hyemi checks her phone. No Luhan’s messages. The chat she send at first hasn’t got the ‘seen’ mark.  She then sent message to him. 

“Why aren’t you tell me you’re not coming?” She then double text him. “Use your phone wisely.” She knows her text sounds a little harsh, but she is too upset to think straight. She walks out of the mall, and her phone is suddenly vibrates. Oh, he finally knows how to call me? Hyemi checks her phone. But it’s not Luhan. It’s Dad instead. 

“Hello?” Hyemi greets. 

“Hyemi. Come home quickly...” Dad desperately rush her to go back.

“Why? Is everyone okay?” Hyemi asks worriedly. 

“We’re okay. But, Lou.... I’m sorry, honey...” dad’s voice cracks like he’s just finish crying. Hyemi’s heart is now uneasy about this. What about Lou? Isn’t Mum bring Lou to vet earlier? She ends the call and went straight to her house. 

As soon as she get home, she sees Mum and Dad at the garden. Lou is laying on the ground. Hyemi still don’t understand what happen. Mum and Dad turn their dad to Hyemi. Both of them are crying. “Hyemi-ah...” Mum calls with tears roll down from her eyes. Hyemi walks approach them. Lou is not even moving. Usually, Lou is the first one that will jump on her.

“Lou? Mum, Dad. What happen?” Hyemi asks. She kneel down on the ground. Lou’s body is not moving. She ruffles Lou’s body. It feels so cold. “Mum? Dad? Lou is not moving....”  Hyemi worriedly stares at both of her parent. They both of hugs Hyemi with tears.

“He’s gone, honey...” Dad says. Hyemi shivers a little. She’s crying as much as she want. She hugs Lou for one last time and kiss Lou’s head. Lou has been living with her family since he was 1 month. They grew up together. Hyemi cannot stop from crying. Her heart hurts so much. Mum and Dad cries together with her. It turns out that Lou hasn’t feel good for some days already. But his body react a little late. Mum and Dad bring him to the vet, but they asked to bring him back because they cannot do anything to Lou anymore. 

Dad digs into the hole and place Lou inside the hole. Hyemi cries as Dad kiss Lou’s head one last time before he put him to rest forever. They get inside after the burial, Hyemi is in deep silence. She feels numb. How do she live with a house that Lou is no longer there? She walks to her room and lock the door. Today has been a tough and upset day for her. She bang her head into the pillow. She screams and cries as much as she want. She already miss Lou. If she did not go anywhere today, she must have stay at home with Lou. She regrets it and cry herself to sleep.

Mum knocks Hyemi’s door but there’s no response. So, Mum decides to open the door. Hyemi still in her blanket. She sits next to Hyemi. She touch Hyemi’s body. 

“Wake up, honey. It’s late already.” She wakes Hyemi up. She feels a little worried as Hyemi hasn’t come out from her room at 7.15AM. So, she decides to check her by herself. Hyemi does not responds and she whines a little. Mum touch Hyemi’s forehead. It’s hot. She then ruffles her head softly. “Honey, are you okay? You’re sweating and your body’s hot.” Mum worriedly looks at Hyemi. Hyemi shakes her head.

“I’m not feeling well.” Hyemi whines. She feels like she want to cry wheneve she feels unwell. Mum knows it too. This must be because of what happen last night. Mum keeps on pating Hyemi’s head

“I will call your teacher to tell her that you’re absent today. Rest well, darling. I’ll be back, okay?” Mum comforts Hyemi. Hyemi whines a little. Her body feels so hot and she does not know where exactly she feels sick at. Mum walks out from the room to call her teacher. Hyemi flips her body to the right side. Tears roll down from her cheek. 

“Lou... Nuna (sister) is not okay. Where are you?” Hyemi whines with tears in her eyes.

Luhan sits at his desk. Hyemi is still not there. Is she okay? Luhan checks his phone. There’s no replies from Hyemi for his last chat. He wonders if Hyemi wait for him last night at the cinema. He feels a little guilty that he did not reply to two last chat Hyemi sent to him. He supposed to be there, but there’s something happen last night right before he left his house. He looks down.

Luhan grabs a Polo shirt and wears it. He suppsed to meet Hyemi at the mall around 4.30PM. So, he decides to go early since he’s living a little bit far from the mall. It takes 20 minutes to reach there. Luhan sprays some of his perfume and walks out of his room immediately. He bumps into Ryung in front of his room. 

“Oh, I was about to knock your door. Someone’s coming....” Ryung hasn’t finished his words but Luhan smiles happily. 

“Is it Hyemi?” Luhan interrupt and walks towards the house’s door. He then shouts at Ryung, “I’m going to eat dinner outside today. Don’t worry about me. Eat all by yourself.” He then jogs a little to the gate. 

But it isn’t Hyemi who stands in front of his gate. Luhan stares at the girl in front of him in confusion. Why did Seol Hana comes here? He then unlock the gate and walks toward her. 

“Seol Hana? Why are you doing here?” Luhan asks. “How do you know my house?” 

“Hi, Luhan. I ask your classmate about your address. I text you earlier that I’m on my way to your house. Remember that I tell you I want to treat you some meals?” Hana smiles gracefully. Luhan scratch his back of his head. 

“Oh, text me.... but, I supposed to meet Hyemi....” Luhan tries to explain.

“Can we go now? There’s a question I want to ask too about the exercise you give to me.” Hana interrupts. She looks into Luhan’s eyes with eyes full of hope. 

“I’ll call Hyemi first.” Luhan grabs his pocket. There is no phone inside his pocket. He also slips his back pocket but there is no phone with him. He must left it inside. He is about to turn his body to the back and walks inside to take his phone with him. However, Seol Hana quickly grabs his hand. 

“Let’s go now.” Hyemi smiles. He holds Luhan’s hand and pull towards her direction. That makes Luhan move closer to her. Luhan shocks by Seol Hana’s action. Seol Hana is holding his hand without his consent. What is even weirder that he does not feels anything when Hana holds his hand. Unlike the time when Hyemi holds his hand to draw a Sun sketch on his bandage back a year ago. Hana pulls Luhan and drag him to the cafè which is 15 minutes from his house. Luhan left his house without the phone. 

“Can I borrow your phone? I need to inform Hyemi.” Luhan asks Hana while they walk to the cafè.

“Oh, I didn’t have Hyemi’s number saved in my phone.” Hana says then proceed, “Do you need to tell her whenever you go out?”.

“No, that’s not the case.” Luhan tries to explain. 

“I’m sure she will understand you. You guys have been friends long enough. She will definitely understand this. I’m also her friend. I think she don’t mind about it.” Hana says with a smile. Luhan looks down. He seems cannot find words to that. He worries that Hyemi will wait for him and it will take them long before the movie starts. 

They arrives at the cafè she drags him to. She orders food for herself and Luhan without asking Luhan’s permissions. They eat silently until Hana asks Luhan a question to break the silence. 

“You’re living with your parent?” Hana asks. Luhan looks up and shakes his head. 

“No. I live with my brother.” Luhan simply answer. He cannot stops from staring into his watch. It’s 4.50PM. There’s only 1 hour and 10 minutes before the movie starts. 

“Ah, I see. Luhan, why did you move to Seoul?” Hana asks curiously. Luhan looks up. He feels a little awkward when a stranger asks him about why did he and Ryung migrates to Seoul. It still a secret to people, except for Hyemi and Hyeri. 

“Just.... for abroad studies.” Luhan lies. Why does time move so fast? He glance to his watch. It’s 5.15PM. He quickly eat the food in his plate. He plans to excuse himself after he finish his food. 

“Luhan, I actually need your help for today’s too.” Hana confess. She looks to Luhan with eyes full of hope again. Luhan starts to feel something is off. He raises his eyebrows in confusion. “I scored only 56% in the past monthly quiz, so I need to re-sit for the quiz. I heard that you’re good at Mathematics. I really hope that you can help me.” She proceeds. 

“Sure, I can. But...” When he wants to excuse himself, Hana once again interrupts. 

“Really? Thank you Luhan! I bring the book together with me. Can we start now?” She pulls out her book and place it on the table. Luhan sighed. He did not expect she come with a book. How do he excuse himself now? He has no option, he need to help her quickly and ran to the cinema before 6PM. 

But it was super impossible. While he teach Hana, he glances to his watch. It’s already 9PM. Both of them have sit at the cafè for 5 hours straight. After the learning session ends, Luhan quickly excuse himself. He sent Hana to the bus stop until Hana gets into the bus. He then runs quickly heading to Hyemi’s house. He looks at his watch. It's 10PM. He peek through Hyemi’s house gate. The house seems quite and dark already. Hyemi’s room is also dark like she’s already sleep. Luhan sighed. He hesitates to ring the bell now. He does not even have his phone with him. He then walks back home. 

He walks inside and open the lamp of his room. Ryung must have already sleep since he has a morning class tomorrow. Luhan flips his blanket and sees his phone. He then picks it and checks his phone. There’s 3 text messages from Hyemi, 2 messages from Hana and 5 calls from Hyemi. Luhan once again sighed. 

“See you there.”-Hyemi, 4.12PM

“Why aren’t you tell me that you’re not coming?”ㅡHyemi, 7.10PM.

“Use your phone wisely.”ㅡHyemi, 7.10PM.

“Luhan, I’m on my way to your house. Can we go out today?”ㅡHana, 4.05PM

“Thank you for today. It has been a great day.”ㅡHana, 9.56PM. 

Luhan lays his body on the bed. He regrets so many things today. Hyemi’s message sounds so scary. He then decides to reply Hyemi. 

“I’m sorry. Did you wait for me?”

“I’m sorry. I’ll treat you some tteokbokki at the stall near the school tomorrow as a token of sorry. Okay?” 

Luhan then close his eyes. Today has been so tiring. He wish Hyemi did not wait for him. He will feels even sorry if that happens. Luhan falls asleep 2 minutes after he replied Hyemi.

Luhan stares at his watch. It’s 8:09 in the morning. Hyemi still has not come. It’s weird since Hyemi barely absents in a year of school life. He checks his phone. There is still no message fron Hyemi. 

“Seonghwa, do you know why Hyemi didn’t come yet?” Luhan asks. Seonghwa turns her back. She then shrugs. 

“Our Yoonddungie (Yoonjung) said she heard that Hyemi is absent today from Mr. Lee. And there is no answer as on why she absents today.” She explains. “She didn’t tell you too?” Seonghwa asks. Luhan shakes his head.

Luhan cannot help but losing all his focus during the class. She glances at Hyemi’s place. The emptiness feels a little huge today. Is it because Hyemi barely absents? She has always been here. 

After school ends, Luhan pulls his bag’s strap and walks out of his class. He bumps into Seol Hana but he immediately walks away as he need to get out of the school’s gate quickly. Seol Hana is left hanging. Luhan walks straight to Hyemi’s house. The house sounds quiety today. He wonders what happen to them. He press the bell to the house. A minute after that, Hyemi’s mum comes out. She smiles at Luhan when she sees Luhan stands in front of the gate. She quickly walks to the gate and unlock the gate. 

“Luhan, why are you coming?” She asks with a motherly smiles. 

“Oh, I wonder if everything is okay? Hyemi absents from school today...” Luhan glances at Hyemi’s window. 

“Ah, our Hyemi is not feeling well today. That’s why she’s absent.” Hyemi’s mum explains. Luhan feels a little worried upon hearing that. He glances back at the window. Why did she fall sick? Is it because she wait for him last night? Is she okay? “You don’t have to worry. She’s resting now. She will be okay soon.”  Hyemi’s mum comforts him. Luhan make a little nod. But he feels uneasy about it. He wonders why did Hyemi fall sick. 

“Ah, Luhan...” Hyemi’s mum taps on Luhan’s shoulder and proceeds, “Lou passed away last night. He suffers an illness from bacteria in his body. Hyemi must feel sad about this. That’s probably why she feels unwell today.” Hyemi’s mum explain. Luhan shocks. Lou? He glances to Hyemi’s bedroom. Why didn’t she tell me anything about this? She must feel extra sad. 

“Mum, can I meet her?” Luhan asks. Hyemi’s mum smiles and nod. 

“Sure. Come in.” Hyemi’s mum brings Luhan to Hyemi’s room. Luhan walks approach Hyemi’s bed. She’s deep in her sleep. Her face looks pale. Luhan reach his hand and place it on Hyemi’s forehead. It feels a little warm. A little high compares to normal temperature. He does not want to wake her up, so he just stares into Hyemi’s face. 

“Why aren’t you tell me anything?” He mumbles. Luhan stares into Hyemi’s pale face. She looks pale but she still looks beautiful with her long eyelashes. She still looks fine with her small and cute lips. Luhan once again falls into the same view. He cannot move his eyes from looking at Hyemi’s lips. His heart flutters, it can jump out of his chest anytime soon. He stares and continously stares into her lips while she is in her deep sleep. Luhan shakes his head, trying to go back to the reality. But when he turns his head to see Hyemi’s face, his eyes still move to Hyemi’s lips. His heart flutters even harder. 

“Kiss....” He mumbles. He move his face closer to her face. He can feel the heat from Hyemi. He stares at Hyemi’s lips while he moves his face closer to Hyemi’s face. His lips almost stamps on Hyemi’s lips. His heart flutters even louder and faster. One more centimetres! His heart screams. However, he stops himself. He quickly moves his face and slaps his face to come back into senses. This is not right! He should not do that. He shakes his head. Hyemi is still sleeping. 

Hyemi suddenly whines, “Lou...”. Luhan looks at Hyemi. Tears roll down from her close eyes. Hyemi moves a little and open her eyes slowly. She then looks around and see Luhan is staring at her. She screams out loud. “WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?” She pulls her blanket to cover herself. Luhan raises his eyebrows in confusion. 

“I heard you’re feeling unwell. So, I came to see you.” Luhan explains. 

“Can you go out for awhile?” Hyemi requests. 

“Why?” He asks.

“My face looks so pale and ugly now. I’ll put some lipbalm at least. My face is so now. I’m.... shy.” Hyemi answers. She still hides inside the blanket.

Luhan chuckles and says, “That’s fine, you’re still.... beautiful.” Hyemi pulls down her blanket. She sit up. She cannot looks Luhan into his eyes now. She is too shy to show his bare face. She feels like out of 365days, today is probably the ugliest she ever been. Hyemi slowly looks up and stares at Luhan. 

“Lou....” She says. 

“I know, your Mum already tell me about it.” Luhan answers. He extend his hand towards Hyemi’s head and ruffles it slowly. “You can cry as much as you want.” He says. It makes Hyemi looks down and feels a little solemn. Tears are again flowing down from her eyes. There is no way she can do anything about it. She just keep crying. Luhan looks at Hyemi pitifully. He moves closer to Hyemi and hugs her while patting her head. “It’s okay. It’s okay...” Luhan comforts her. He knows his heart jumps excitedly while he hugs her.  He can feel Hyemi’s body heat when he hugs her. The fact that Hyemi face is on his chest makes it even more heart-fluttering to him. But he hold it to himself. This is not the time for his heart’s business. 

Hyemi looks up. She stares at Luhan. She realizes that she is actually upset at Luhan because of what happen yesterday. She then pinch Luhan’s chest. Luhan screams in pain. 

“Why did you stand me yesterday? I don’t ever wanna go out with you anyone!” Hyemi push Luhan a little. She then gets ready to pull her blanket to cover herself again. She is actually a little flutters when Luhan hugs her. She thinks that her heart is not working well because  she feels unwell. 

“I’m sorry. I’m truly sorry. Just before I want to go to you, Hana came and force me to go eat with her. She then asks me to teach her some more lessons. I left my phone at home. I tried to call you using Hana’s phone, but she said that she don’t have your number. I’m truly sorry about it. Did you wait for me?” Luhan explains.

Hyemi falls into silence a little. She feels a little but strange about the situation. Why did Hana force Luhan to go out with him? If it wasn’t because of Hana, Luhan does not have problem to come. Why aren’t Luhan decline and go straight to her? She feels a little jealous and upset about it. She waited for hours just in case Luhan will come. She expected him to come because Luhan had never broke their promise before. He will delays his own date to go out with Hyemi or Hyeri. Suddenly Hyemi feels guilty about it. Luhan always prioritize her. If I was his girlfriend, I would be sad too if he prioritizes his bestfriend over me. Am I too selfish? 

“Well, okay...” Hyemi answers in low voice. She tucks her hair to the back of her ears. 

Luhan smiles while looking at Hyemi’s sulky face. Everyone can agree and says that tone is a sulky tone and that face still upset about it. Luhan moves his body toward Hyemi as he face her face a little closer. He then peck her cheek softly. “That’s my sorry.” Luhan says with a smile.

Hyemi feels a little her whole body being injected a vibe she did not feels before. Xi freaking Luhan peck her cheek again. It feels a little wild that it happens on her bed. She feels her face turns a little hot and red. Is that because she feels unwell today? She cannot looks straight to Luhan’s eyes now. 

“Your face turns red. Are you okay? Still feel unwell?” Luhan asks worriedly. Hyemi nods and pull blanket all over her body and face. 

“I’m going to sleep a little.” Hyemi says. Luhan raises his eyebrows in confusion. He then decides to let Hyemi rest for awhile and he gets out of her room. Hyemi realizes that Luhan had already gone. She pulls down her blanket and sighed. Her heart still flutters. Heart.... please do not do weird things like this.

As soon as Luhan close the door, he bangs his head on the wall. Why...? He did it again. He done something out of his naturality again. But he cannot help himself from it. He feels crazy whenever he think of it. When Hyemi is around him, it makes him want to stay closer. He cannot stop himself from physically in contact with her. Isn’t this weird? He feels like he want her more and more. He keep on wanting her. He want her all by himself. He almost kiss her by lips before too. He holds himself so much that the feeling is now overwhelming. He ends up give her a peck of the cheek out of his control. He bangs his head again. Hyemi must feels uncomfortable and confused about this. 

“Luhan? Are you okay?” Mum suddenly show up behind his back. Luhan turns his back quickly. He nods. 

“Yes, I’m okay. I think I saw a fly on the wall before.” Luhan says. Mum raises her eyebrows in confusion. 

“Fly? I don’t think my house got that.” She motherly smiles to Luhan. She place her hand on Luhan’s shoulder. “While she’s still resting inside, shall we go to the kitchen? Let’s have a drink.” She offers. Luhan smiles and nod. They move to the kitchen for a drink. Hyemi’s mum shoved a cup of tea to Luhan. She then sits in front of Luhan.

“Being Hyemi’s bestfriend means that I’m also your closest adult.” She says. Luhan looks up in confusion. She smiles. “If you have a trouble, please do not hesitate to tell me anything.” She proceeds. Luhan falls into a deep silence for a few seconds. He then decides to share what on his mind. 

“I’m scared.... I think I’m in love with your daughter.” Luhan confess. He hesitate to share this, but he sures that Hyemi’s mum is also a best listener likes her daughter. He feels lost that he’s in love with a person who he usually tells everything. But there is no way he can share his overwhelming feeling to a person he’s actually in love with. He afraid that become the barrier and ruins their friendship. He wish he didn’t realize about his feeling. He feels confused and lost. He does not want do anything to ruin their friendship, but he also want to have her closer. Is this what it means by ‘romantically wants’ her? 

Hyemi’s Mum smiles. A very motherly smiles. She then grabs Luhan’s hand. 

“When I was young, Hyemi’s dad is our campus’ club preisdent. I was the secretary to the club back then. When I first know about his feeling to me, I’m afraid of my own feeling to. I afraid if I mixed up the like I grew for him between our professionalism or personally. We’ve been working together as a group. If I involved my personal feelings with him, it can ruins our teamwork.” Hyemi’s mum shares. She smiles as she remembers all the past moment she had. “Then, when we first start dating, we decide to seperate our personal feeling and our professionalism as one big team. We didn’t involve our quarell in relationship to the teamwork. I thought it’s impossible at first. But well, there’s nothing impossible.” She chuckles. 

“Does it bother you that Dad likes you knowing that you’re working together?” Luhan asks innocently. Hyemi’s mum shakes her head with a smile.

“it’s only bothering me when I’m not sure of how I actually feels about him. When I finally realize my own feeling, it’s never ever becomes ‘burden’ to me.” Hyemi’s mum explains. “When did you start realize your own feeling? Why did you like her?” She asks. 

Luhan looks up. He smiles a little upon hearing how soft and comforting Hyemi’s mum has been to him. She feels like his own mother. 

“During our summer break. I keep thinking on when is the actually the moment that I start in love with her. But when I go back to one point, I think it’s really start way before that. I wonder why I didn’t realize all of that before. I thought that’s normal because I’ve been with her all of the time.” Luhan explains.
