Lee Taemin is my cousin. My uncle (Dads brother's) son, but I had all but met the boy only twice my entire life. He is a first year, new to this school just like me and so I planned to meet up with him for break.

I was walking through the halls, texting him to meet me outside class 4-D. I waited there for a while, he didn’t seem to even send back a reply. I waited some more and then decided to give up, maybe I missed him, after all I didn’t really even know what he looked like. It had been 5 years since I last saw him. 

My bags heavy, I thought to myself and then went searching for my locker. When finally there I saw a boy standing next to my locker, stuffing some books into his own.

This boy was tall, and when I say tall I mean the handsome model kind. His body figure seemed the kind too, lean but fit. His hair long and tied up loosely with a black elastic band, several more around his left wrist. He had thick black framed glasses on and he was now staring at me.

"Umm..the weather is nice today" I said and then instantly wanted to kick myself. The weather, really Jinki?, I questioned myself.

His big eyes widened farther as I spoke, almost like he was surprised I could speak at all. His gaze had me resisting the urge to look down and check if my uniform had magically turned into a princess outfit. And then finally he nodded, confirming that I wasn’t speaking to a deaf person.

"It's cold here this time around, isn’t it?" I asked and wondered why I hadn’t just shoved my books and walked away. But this time the boy shrugged. "My family just moved here so I don’t know" he explained and this time I was the deaf seeming one. "New student?" I literally jumped with joy as I extended my hand to shake his. He took it hesitantly and nodded, I pointed to myself and repeated idiotically, "New student."

After that I proceeded to talk to him, just small talk and chit chat. He told me his name is Choi Minho and he is in his second year. His parents had moved here to live closer to his grandparents and that he had an older brother. I, on the other hand told him only what was necessary. That my parents moved a lot due to their occupation, that I didn’t have any siblings and all the other lighter topics.

We had lunch together during the break and exchanged phone numbers, I was happy to have met him.  

When break was over we said our goodbyes and said to meet again for lunch during school, this was turning out to be easier than I had expected. I walked back to class perfectly happy only to have my mood ruined.
