“not enough ingredients.” Nabyul was looking through the refrigerator to find ingredients to cook lunch, but it looked like they were short.

“guess I have to visit the super market.”
she got ready to go out.

Just then Kyuhyun entered the living room.

“going somewhere?” he asked.

“to the market. Grocery shopping.” Nabyul answered without looking at him. She was still bitter from the last night talk.

“can I come?” Kyuhyun asked her.

Kyuhyun was unemployed at the moment so he stayed home. Changmin was at the office so he didn’t had much to do.

‘he must be bored sitting around the house.’

Finally nabyul nodded.

“why not? But I usually walk. It’s not that far.” Nabyul said.

“let’s go.” Kyuhyun said grabbing his jacket.

Kyuhyun and nabyul walked to the market with nabyul leading.

She had to slow down her pace for Kyuhyun every minute.

“were here.” Nabyul stated looking back at Kyuhyun who was leisurely catching up with his hands in his pockets.

“you said it wasn’t far.” Kyuhyun said.

“it isn’t” nabyul answered.

“just go ahead. I will sit on the bench there.” Kyuhyun said pointing to the bench nearby.

Nabyul nodded and smiled.

‘lazy oppa.’

It wasn’t that Kyuhyun was unfit. He just wasn’t the type to jog or walk. He was more of an indoor person.

When they were young, Changmin was the school jock while Kyuhyun had his head stuck in books but still managed to attract a number of girls through his good looks.

Nabyul entered the shop and started picking out the things according to the list she had made earlier.

She spotted frozen pork chops so she decided to buy them.

It was kyuhyun’s favorite dish as she remembered.

She picked out rest of the ingredients and then paid for them.

She then went out of the shop.

She gazed at Kyuhyun who was looking at the kids playing in the park ahead.

“he looks so handsome just sitting there.” she realized what she had said.

She shook her head.

‘he is your best friend nabyul. Nothing more.’ She scolded herself.

“nothing more.” She kept repeating.

Kyuhyun noticed nabyul standing there mumbling something.

He stood up and approached her.

“done?” he asked.

“huh? Oh! Just some fruits left to buy.” She looked away embarrassed.

‘he didn’t heard me right?’

They both then walked a small shop owned by a halmoni.

“oh! Agassi!” the elder women said noticing nabyul.

“halmoni! How are you?” nabyul asked with a gentle smile.

“I’ve been fine. Its been a while since you last came. Did you find another shop to buy fruits from?”

“I was just busy and don’t worry. I would only buy fruits from you.” nabyul assured with a playful smile.

Kyuhyun gazed at her and a smile grew on his lips.

‘always so nice with elders. Nabi-ah! You didn’t change at all.’

The halmoni had now noticed Kyuhyun.

“who is the young man? Is he your husband?” she asked.

Nabyul’s eyes widened as she looked at Kyuhyun who also looked like he was in shock.

“aniyo. He is my childhood friend.” Nabyul answered awkwardly.

“he isn’t?” now it was halmoni’s turn to be surprised.

‘the way he looked at her I’m sure there was something between them.’ She thought.

“oh well! What do you want to buy?”

After buying the fruits, nabyul and Kyuhyun exited the shop.

“so home now?” Kyuhyun asked.

Nabyul nodded in response.

They started walking back home.

Nabyul had an uneasy feeling like she forgot something.

‘did I buy everything?’

She looked through the plastic bag to make sure.

Just then a car came up in full speed. Nabyul was busy looking in the plastic bag to even notice the car coming her way.

“NABYUL!” Kyuhyun shouted. He pulled her out of the way fast enough that the car didn’t touch her but went flying past in a speed that would break any speed sign.

Nabyul was shaking from the sudden shock so Kyuhyun wrapped his arms around her.

Her head lay on kyuhyun’s broad chest.

Hearing his heart beat made her feel safe.

“nabyul. Are you okay?” Kyuhyun asked worriedly.

Nabyul slightly nodded against his chest.

“let’s just get a cab to go home.” Kyuhyun suggested.

Nabyul looked up and gazed at him.

‘he saved me.’ She thought as her inside grew warm.
