Chapter 16: Stuck In Between
I Still Want To Love You
The very next day didn’t start as smoothly as how Changmin would have preferred. He knew what damage has been done, but he didn’t expect to receive the consequences as early as the very next morning. He was forced to consume a tight fist to his face right after he stepped out of his car. His body slammed back at the door frame at the powerful force. They could have at least allowed him to closed the door and lock it first. And much to his expectation, the fist had belonged to Kim Jaejoong.
“How dare you play with her like that?” Jaejoong spat, releasing yet another punch towards Changmin’s face. “Damn it, I can’t believe that you kissed her!”
It was as if Jaejoong was in fact YeonHee’s boyfriend who was feeling devastated at the news that she and Changmin had kissed. To the eyes of an outsider, Changmin could be seen as the bad guy who was trying to steal the girl away and for that, he did deserve the good beating. But the other half of the population agreed that Changmin had YeonHee first, and they looked perfect for each other, so Jaejoong had no rights to get mad and hit Changmin like this.
No one knew what to do to help with the situation since the crowd themselves were still debating on whom to actually side with.
“If you touch her like that again, I swear I’m going to kill you,” Jaejoong warned.
Changmin kept on dodging Jaejoong’s attacks and only fought back when necessary. “Who are you to tell me that?” he retorted. “It’s up to her if she allows it or not. She’s not yours to be controlled.” He was careful not to hurt the guy, but Jaejoong called for it.
Jaejoong smirked and momentarily stopped. “Do you think being her bodyguard could give you those privileges?” There was a meaningful gleam emitting from the corner of Jaejoong’s eyes.
“What are you talking about?” Changmin pretended not to know, though his heart had started to beat a little faster.
“I’m not stupid, Changmin. You will never have her, so stay away from her!”
“Oh my God, what is happening here?!” YeonHee’s voice finally appeared within the crowd just as both of them started fighting again.
She walked through the sea of people to get to the center where her two best friends were currently fist-fighting. Her eyes went wide with horror when she saw blood on both their faces, not to mention fresh bruises on certain parts of their bodies. She hurriedly threw herself in between them and spread her arms wide to push them apart from each other. They immediately stopped moving, but she could feel the heated glare from the two men shooting above her head.
“What do you both think you’re doing? Is this really necessary? Stop it, now!” she pleaded with her eyes closed shut. She didn’t care that many people were watching, but she really felt the need to save their friendship. She had almost lost it over the ten years that she was away, and she didn’t want to lose it now. If this means that she would have to expose the real connection that the three of them have, then so be it.
“I was just teaching this ungrateful brat a lesson,” Jaejoong hissed, his eyes never left Changmin’s.
Changmin didn’t bother to explain himself. YeonHee sighed at Changmin’s attitude and glared at the both of them. “Even if need be, you two could’ve at least find a more private place to settle this misunderstanding,” she whispered so that only both of them could hear her. “Let’s get out of here before this gets more serious.”
She practically had to drag the two guys out of the parking lot and away from the crowd. By this time, the whole student body is becoming curious of what is actually happening between these two hottest guys on campus. They had never seen
