Chapter 27

 

 

Sungmin was sitting inside her brother’s car while Donghae was busy loading her things inside the trunk. Sungmin was staring at the window, thinking about Kyuhyun. She didn’t sleep the whole night thinking about him. Donghae enters his car

 

“Ok. We’re going now”

 

Sungmin looks at her brother with teary eyes

 

“Oppa...”

 

Sungmin stares at her watch

 

“Can I ask you a favor?”

 

Donghae nods at her

 

“Please, let’s go at the hospital”

 

Sungmin begs him

 

“What for? You don’t want to see him, right? You don’t even care if Kyu will survive or not”

 

Sungmin shook her head

 

“Oppa, I’m begging you please”

 

Sungmin’s tears slowly fall down from her eyes

 

“I want to see Kyu for the last time”

 

Donghae sighs

 

“Arasso. Just wipe your tears and stop crying or else I won’t drive you there”

 

Sungmin immediately wipes her tears

 

“Why is love so complicated for Kyuhyun-ah and Sungmin-ah?”

 

Donghae asks his sister, but Sungmin didn’t answer him. She just stares at the window sadly

 

“I told you to give up your pride. You both love each other, but why do you need to do this? Seriously, both of you are such a head ache. When will you stop hurting yourself like this and go back to each other’s arms once again? Your love story is more complicated than a drama”

 

Donghae told her before driving his car

 

 

 

 

 

*HOSPITAL*

 

 

Donghae was standing at the information center, talking to the receptionist

 

“Excuse me”

 

Donghae calls the receptionist’s attention

 

“Yes sir, what can I do for you?”

 

“I went at the ICU to visit a patient named Cho Kyuhyun. He was brought here yesterday night because he got hit by a huge truck on the street. The nurse told me that he was already transferred to a private room awhile ago”

 

Donghae paused for a moment

 

“I just want to know his room number. We’re on a hurry. You see, my sister wants to talk to him before she flies back in California later”

 

The receptionist smiles at him and checks the computer

 

“It’s room 515 sir”

 

“Thank you”

 

Donghae bows at her. He walks towards Sungmin

 

“Follow me honey dear and I will bring you to your baby Kyu”

 

Donghae walks away. Sungmin follows him. They went inside the elevator

 

“Do you think he’s already awake?”

 

Sungmin asks her brother worriedly. Donghae just shook his head as an answer. He went out of the elevator, dragging his sister with him. They walk on the hallway until they reach room 515. The nurse went out of the room

 

“We’re here to visit the patient”

 

The nurse stares at them sadly

 

“His parents are talking to his doctors. He’s not yet waking up and there’s still no progress”

 

“What is his condition right now?”

 

Donghae asks the nurse nervously

 

“Still the same, the doctors are still observing his condition. The operation turns out to be successful, but Mr. Cho still needs to wake up. He needs to wake up at the given time or else he will remain sleeping or die on the following days”

 

The nurse bows at them before leaving. Donghae sits on the bench outside

 

“I’ll wait for you here. Go inside now. I’m sure that Kyu is waiting for you”

 

Donghae told Sungmin sadly. Sungmin takes a deep breath and enters the room carefully. She walks towards Kyuhyun. Tears start forming in her eyes while staring at him

 

“Yah! Cho Kyuhyun! Why are you still lying there? Why are you being so lazy all of a sudden?”

 

Sungmin bites her lips, controlling her tears from falling

 

“Look at you...you look so funny. I can’t believe that the well known CEO, President of Cho Corporation, the over confident, brat young master and proud Cho Kyuhyun is lying on the bed, sleeping like a monster. Wake up you ! You need to wake up, arasso? I’m not going to forgive you and accept you in my life again if you will just sleep forever. You need to wake up Cho Kyuhyun! You still need to chase me in California. Are you listening to me? I told you to wake up!”

 

Tears start falling from Sungmin’s eyes. She sits on the couch beside Kyuhyun’s bed and holds his hand tight

 

“Baby, please listen to me...”

 

Sungmin puts his hand on her face

 

“Please wake up. I want you to wake up. Don’t do this to me. I’m begging you baby. Open your eyes, please”

 

Sungmin starts crying like a kid

 

“Don’t leave me baby. I can’t go on with my life without you. I love you so much and I need you in my life, so please open your eyes and wake up now”

 

Sungmin sits on the bed. She brushes her fingers on his face

 

“I’m sorry for everything that I told you. I’m sorry for hurting you so badly. I’m sorry for pretending that I don’t love you anymore and that I don’t need you in my life. Kyu, please wake up. Open your eyes baby. You told me that you’re going to marry me, but how can you do that if you will just lie there and sleep? We still need to build a new life and happy family. Who will be the father of our kids if you will die?”

 

Sungmin hugs him

 

“Kyu, I don’t care if I cry again because of you. I don’t mind crying a river as long as you’re the reason why I’m crying. Please don’t leave me like this. You need to live, listen to me. Listen to my voice. I want you to wake up. If you die who will take care of me? Who will protect me and watch over me? Nobody will treat me like a Princess if you die, so please wake up now”

 

She holds his hand and places it on her heart

 

“Can you feel my heart beat? It’s only beating for you. I’m going to wait for you in California, arasso? Baby, please fight for me. You can do it. I want you to wake up and open your eyes for me. You need to fight for me, arasso? Promise me that you’re going to fight and wake up”

 

She gets something inside her bag. She places the ring in his hand

 

“Promise me that you will wake up. I’m going to wait for you. Wake up now baby Kyu”

 

Sungmin kissed his lips

 

“I love you so much. I love you yesterday, today and I will keep on loving you tomorrow and will love you more forever. I love Kyu. I always do”

 

Sungmin whispers to him before going out of his room. She saw her brother standing at the corner while staring at the window sadly

 

“Op...pa”

 

Donghae turns around to face Sungmin. She runs towards him and gives him a hug

 

“You’re already done talking to him?”

 

Sungmin nods while crying like a kid

 

“It’s really painful to see him like that”

 

Sungmin told her brother. Donghae just nods sadly and starts patting Sungmin’s back to comfort her from crying

 

“Do you really need to leave him in this kind of situation?”

 

Donghae asks his sister sadly, but Sungmin didn’t answer

 

“Minnie”

 

Donghae cups her face

 

“Please, it’s enough. Stop doing this. This is not the right thing anymore”

 

Sungmin shook her head

 

“I need to go Oppa. I need to go far away to forget him”

 

Donghae raised his eyebrow while staring at Sungmin

 

“Forget him? Do you really think that you can forget the man who once becomes a part of your life? Do you think you can forget the man you love most? Minnie, stop fooling everyone and yourself”

 

“But I need to do it?”

 

“What is wrong with you? I can’t understand. Why do you need to go far away from Kyu when you yourself know that you can’t live without him? Why do you need to hurt yourself like this and why do you need to leave when Kyu needs you at time like this?”

 

Donghae stares at Sungmin sadly

 

“Minnie, what do you want him to do for you to wake up and accept the truth that you still love him? Kyu is dying, what else do you want for you to stop this nonsense? Your fiancé give up his own happiness just to see you happy with Kyu, then what the hell are you doing?”

 

“Oppa, I need to go. Please, just let me go”

 

“Is this really what you want?”

 

Sungmin nods at him

 

“Arasso”

 

Donghae sighs and wipes her tears away

 

“I’m going to support you because you’re my sister. I just hope you’re not going to regret everything at the end. I try to stop you, but you still choose to leave. I always want to see you happy, but you’re the one who choose to be sad”

 

Donghae kissed her forehead

 

“There’s nothing else that I can do because you’re such a hard headed girl. Let’s go or you will miss your flight”

 

Donghae pats his sister’s cheek before walking away. Sungmin stares at the window, watching the sky

 

“Please wake up Kyu. I’m sorry, but I need to forget you”

 

Sungmin wipes her tears and follow her brother

 

 

 

 

*INCHEON AIRPORT*

 

 

Donghae and Sungmin were sitting inside the car

 

“Minnie”

 

Donghae stares at his sister

 

“Is there anything else that I can do to stop you from leaving?”

 

Sungmin shook her head

 

“Even if I kneel in front of you?”

 

Donghae asks her curiously. Sungmin stares at him

 

“Oppa...”

 

Donghae holds his sister’s hands

 

“Minnie, I know what I’m doing this time. If I need to kneel down in front of you then I’m going to do it, just stay”

 

“Why do you want me to stay?”

 

Donghae flicks her forehead

 

“Kyu needs you so much”

 

“You can take care of him”

 

Donghae suddenly frowns

 

“Why do I need to take care of him? Am I his wife? I’m just his best friend and I’m not a babysitter. You’re the one who supposed to take care of him because you’re the wife”

 

“We’re already divorced”

 

“How can you divorced if you’re not yet married”

 

Donghae takes a deep breath

 

“Before I let you go, let me just ask you something”

 

Sungmin stares at her brother curiously

 

“Is there any room for second chance?”

 

Donghae asks her curiously

 

“If Kyu wakes up and he still wants to love me even though I left him like that then maybe there is still room for second chance because I’m not closing my heart. I will always wait for him and Kyu will always hold the key to my heart”

 

Sungmin hugs her brother

 

“Oppa, you take care of him. Make sure that he won’t be so busy so he can take care of his self too. Make sure that he won’t skip meals and he will sleep properly all the time. Please watch over him, can you do that for me?”

 

Donghae nods. Sungmin smiles at him

 

“I’m going now”

 

“You take care”

 

“Arasso”

 

Sungmin went out of the car. Donghae gets her luggage in the trunk and gives it to her

 

“You have to visit me this time”

 

“Of course honey dear”

 

“I love you Oppa. You also take care and hoping that you will marry Hyukkie Unnie as soon as possible”

 

“I love you too honey dear”

 

Donghae pats her head

 

“I’m going to miss you. Go now”

 

Sungmin nods at him. She grabs her luggage and waves her hand. Donghae watches her while she walks away

 

“What will I do to bring them back together?”

 

Donghae sighs sadly. He went inside his car

 

“Why is love so complicated for Kyu and Minnie?”

 

Donghae just shook his head and start driving his car away

 

 

 

 

 

*HOSPITAL*

 

 

Mrs. Cho was sitting on the couch while holding her son’s hand

 

“When will our son wake up? I’m so scared honey. What if Kyu never wakes up and die on the following days?”

 

Mr. Cho hugs his wife who starts crying again

 

“I don’t know what I will do if Kyu leaves us”

 

Mrs. Cho buries her face on her husband’s chest

 

“Kyu will wake up honey. Stop thinking such thing”

 

Mr. Cho told her and hugs her tight. Kyuhyun slowly opens his eyes and saw his parents sitting on the couch, crying

 

“Umma...”

 

Mrs. Cho was shock to hear Kyuhyun’s voice. She stares at Kyuhyun and immediately hugs him

 

“Sweetheart, you’re awake. You’re finally awake”

 

Mrs. Cho starts crying hard while hugging her son.

 

“Umma...”

 

Mrs. Cho stares at him

 

“Yes sweetheart? Is there anything wrong?”

 

“Where is Minnie?”

 

Mrs. Cho stares at him sadly

 

“I heard her voice awhile ago. She was talking to me. She told me to wake up. She was crying so hard. I want to hug her so she will stop crying now. Where is she?”

 

Mrs. Cho didn’t answer

 

“Is there something wrong Umma? Where is Minnie? I want to see her”

 

“I’m sorry sweetheart”

 

Mrs. Cho holds his son’s face

 

“But today is Minnie’s wedding to her fiancé”

 

Tears start falling from Kyuhyun’s eyes

 

“I beg for her to come here, but she don’t want to see you”

 

“You’re lying Umma”

 

“No sweetheart”

 

“I heard her talking to me. I swear, I heard her talking to me. She told me to wake up. Did she get mad because I just woke up?”

 

Mrs. Cho shook her head

 

“Minnie is already married by this time”

 

“But...”

 

Kyuhyun realize that he’s holding something. He opens his hand and saw the ring that he bought for Minnie

 

“I guess I’m late. She’s already married. I fail to fight for her and now she’s gone. She’s forever gone”

 

Kyuhyun closed his hand and hold the ring tightly on his heart

 

“I love you Minnie, but I can no longer have you in my life. You’re no longer mine and we really need to forget each other. I hope you will be happy with him. I love you so much, but I already lose because I fail to fight for you”

 

Kyuhyun whispers. Tears keep on falling from his eyes. He feels so weak and helpless. He feels a great pain in his heart; pain of forever losing the girl he loves most and he knew that no matter how hard he cries, his tears won’t bring her back in his life again because Sungmin is already happy in the arms of someone and it’s not him

 

 

 

 

It was already eight in the evening when Donghae went at the hospital to visit Kyuhyun. He saw his parents talking outside

 

“Umma, Appa”

 

He waves his hand and walks towards them

 

“How’s Kyu?”

 

He asks them worriedly

 

“Hae sweetheart”

 

Mrs. Cho holds his hand

 

“Can I ask you something?”

 

“Yes Umma”

 

Mrs. Cho stares at his eyes

 

“Tell me the truth, does Minnie went here awhile ago?”

 

“The nurse told you?”

 

Mr. and Mrs. Cho shook their head

 

“Well...”

 

Mrs. Cho gets something in her pocket and shows it to Donghae

 

“Someone puts this in Kyuhyun’s hand and I don’t remember giving this to anyone, only Sungmin”

 

“Oh...”

 

Donghae smiles at them

 

“She went here awhile ago. She told me that she wants to see Kyu before she flies back in California”

 

“FLIES BACK IN CALIFORNIA?”

 

Mr. and Mrs. Cho shout in unison

 

“Yes, is there something wrong? Is there something wrong happen to Kyu? Do I need to call Minnie or something?”

 

Donghae asks them nervously. Mrs. Cho holds his hands tight

 

“So Kyu is telling the truth?”

 

Donghae raised his eyebrow

 

“Kyu spoke in his sleep?”

 

“No sweetheart”

 

“Then what?”

 

“Kyu already wake up”

 

Donghae’s eyes widened

 

“Is that true Umma? Kyu is finally awake?”

 

Mr. and Mrs. Cho nod at him

 

“That was a relief”

 

Donghae sighs

 

“I believe that Minnie was the reason why he wakes up. Kyu told us that he heard Minnie talking to him. He told us that Minnie wants him to wake up”

 

Mrs. Cho’s tears start forming in her eyes

 

“Minnie was the one who wake him up. It’s the magic of Minnie’s love that wakes him up”

 

Mrs. Cho drops her head as tears start falling from her eyes

 

“But we’re already late because Minnie is already married to other man”

 

Donghae suddenly cough

 

“What? I just drop her at Incheon Airport awhile ago. I didn’t remember her marrying someone. Her marriage to Youngwoon is cancelled because they call off the wedding. I don’t know what really happen between them. All I know is Youngwoon let her go because he thinks that Minnie still loves Kyu”

 

They stare at Donghae blankly

 

“Did we hear it right? Minnie didn’t marry someone?”

 

Donghae nods happily

 

“She flies back in California”

 

“So, Kyu still have a chance?”

 

“Yes Umma”

 

Mrs. Cho hugs Donghae

 

“Then we need to do everything to bring them back together”

 

“Ok”

 

Donghae smiles at her

 

“Is Kyu awake?”

 

Mrs. Cho nods at him

 

“He’s thinking about Minnie. He’s actually sad about Minnie’s wedding”

 

Donghae laughs softly

 

“Let’s see if he will still be sad if I told him that his Minnie is waiting for him in California”

 

“I’m sure that Kyu will be happy”

 

“Can I talk to him?”

 

“Go ahead sweetheart”

 

Donghae smiles at them and slowly enters the room. He saw Kyuhyun lying on the bed, spacing out

 

“So...”

 

Donghae sits on the bed happily

 

“You’re already awake?”

 

Kyuhyun just nods at him. Donghae lay down on the bed, hugging him

 

“Why is my baby so sad?”

 

“Hae...”

 

Kyuhyun stares at Donghae sadly

 

“I’m not in the mood to fool around. Just leave me alone, arasso?”

 

Donghae frowns at him

 

“Yah! What kind of attitude is that brat young master? I’m here to tell you something”

 

“Go ahead”

 

Donghae sits on the bed

 

“Do you really want to hear it?”

 

Donghae asks him curiously

 

“Go ahead and tell it to me”

 

Donghae giggles happily

 

“Minnie’s wedding has been cancelled. She didn’t end up marrying Youngwoon”

 

Kyuhyun’s eyes widened as he stares at Donghae

 

“She flies back in California and she’s going to wait for you there”

 

“Really?”

 

“You don’t believe me? Since when did I lie to you?”

 

Kyuhyun frowns

 

“You’re such a great liar fish”

 

Donghae laughs softly

 

“But I’m not lying this time. Well, if you won’t recover that fast then you won’t be able to chase her back and marry her”

 

“Are you going to help me this time or you will still keep her away from me?”

 

“Pabo”

 

Donghae smiles at him

 

“I’m not going to tell you that Minnie is in California if I’m not going to help you. You’re still my best friend after all and you’re the only rightful man to be my sister’s husband and my brother in law”

 

Donghae coughs

 

“Cho Kyuhyun, I’m going to have a deal with you”

 

Kyuhyun stares at him blankly

 

“I’m going to sell Minnie to you”

 

Kyuhyun raised his eyebrow

 

“And what do you want this time?”

 

Donghae smiles brightly

 

“Bring back the smile on her face once again and make sure that your wedding will really happen this time because this is the last time that I’m going to sell him to you. If you won’t make it happen then you’re such a loser forever”

 

“Arasso Lee Donghae”

 

Donghae reaches his hand out

 

“Deal?”

 

Kyuhyun smiles at him and shakes his hand

 

“Deal”

 

They stare at each other and laugh softly
