Chapter 24

 

 

*CALIFORNIA*

 

 

Sungmin was jogging around the park while playing on her nunchucks. She was listening to Classical music to boost her energy and to feel relax. She was enjoying her morning exercise when she notices a handsome man jogging beside her. Sungmin ignores him and starts running a little bit fast. The handsome man follows her. Sungmin stops running and stares at the handsome man who stops running as well. He stares at Sungmin and flash a bright smile. Sungmin turns off her iPod and removes her earphones

 

“Excuse me? Are you following me?”

 

He nods at her

 

“Why?”

 

He shook his head

 

“Well, I just find you so attractive”

 

Sungmin laugh softly

 

“Can I join you?”

 

“Sure”

 

Sungmin smiles brightly at him causing him to blush a little

 

“So?”

 

He stares at Sungmin shyly

 

“Do you want to have a walk with me”

 

Sungmin answers him with a nod. They start walking slowly

 

“Do you usually go here and have an exercise?”

 

Sungmin shook her head

 

“I just went here every Mondays and Thursdays”

 

“Alone?”

 

“No”

 

“No?”

 

“Well...”

 

Sungmin smiles

 

“Actually, I always go here with my cousin. Sometimes her fiancée joins us”

 

“Where is she?”

 

“Oh...Unnie can’t join me today because she needs to go to her office early. She’s busy lately because she has a lot of clients”

 

“What is she doing?”

 

“She’s an interior designer”

 

He smiles at Sungmin

 

“Really?”

 

Sungmin nods

 

“Why?”

 

“Well...I just remember the fiancée of my good friend. She’s also an interior designer”

 

“That’s cool”

 

“Maybe they can meet each other someday”

 

“Maybe”

 

Sungmin stares at the handsome man as they keep on walking slowly

 

“How about you?”

 

“What about me?”

 

“Ah, do you usually go here?”

 

He shook his head

 

“Not really. I just go and have an exercise if I’m free and if I’m on the mood. Well, today is my day off and since I can’t think of good things to do at home, I just decided to go here at the park and have some exercise. I think I’m gaining some weight”

 

Sungmin laughs softly

 

“You’re not fat. Your body is ok”

 

“Really?”

 

Sungmin nods happily

 

“But I think I should also get some abs just like my friend”

 

“But for me you look just fine. You don’t need to change something. You look just fine”

 

He notice the nunchucks that Sungmin is holding

 

“That thing is so scary”

 

He points his finger on her nunchucks

 

“I love martial arts”

 

“You know martial arts?”

 

“Yes. I’m good on it”

 

Sungmin demonstrate some of her skills in nunchucks. The handsome man watches her happily. He claps his hands when Sungmin is done with her demonstration

 

“Wow! You’re so cool”

 

“Thanks”

 

He smiles brightly at her

 

“Every man will get scared of you. I didn’t know that you’re good in martial arts because you look so innocent”

 

“Don’t go easy on me”

 

They stare at each other and laugh softly

 

“What do you do in life? Are you a busy person?”

 

The handsome man asks Sungmin

 

“Well, I’m a CEO”

 

“Your job is really tiring and stressful”

 

“A bit. How about you?”

 

“I’m a lawyer”

 

“Your job is much tiring and stressful”

 

He nods shyly

 

“I don’t sleep unless the case is over”

 

Sungmin’s eyes widened

 

“Wow, that was so stressful. I don’t think I can live a life like that. You know, I’m such a lazy girl”

 

Sungmin’s mobile phone rings

 

“Excuse me for awhile”

 

He nods at him. Sungmin answers her call

 

“Yeoboseo”

 

“Ms. Lee”

 

“Yes?”

 

“Mr. Flinne’s secretary calls awhile ago. He said that Mr. Flinne will be here at eleven to have a meeting with you”

 

“Arasso”

 

Sungmin hangs up. She stares at the handsome man

 

“I’m sorry, but I need to go. My secretary calls me”

 

“It’s ok”

 

Sungmin reaches her hand out

 

“It’s nice to meet you...”

 

He smiles at her and shakes her hand

 

“Kim Youngwoon”

 

Sungmin smiles at him

 

“It’s nice to meet you Mr. Kim”

 

“Don’t be so formal. Just call me Youngwoon”

 

“Arasso Youngwoon”

 

“Are we going to see each other again Ms...”

 

“Lee Sungmin...Minnie for short”

 

Youngwoon nods at her

 

“Are we going to see each other again Minnie?”

 

“Maybe”

 

Sungmin waves her hand

 

“Take care”

 

“You too”

 

Youngwoon smiles at her. He watches her enters her car and drives it away

 

“I’m sure that we’re going to meet again beautiful girl. I hope so”

 

Youngwoon smiles brightly and starts running again

 

 

 

 

*SEOUL*

 

 

Donghae was standing outside a small apartment

 

“Fighting!”

 

Donghae knocks on the door

 

“Kyuhyun-ah, I’m here to visit you”

 

Donghae keeps on knocking, but nobody is answering

 

“Aish!”

 

He gets the key in his pocket

 

“Why do I need to knock if I have a key? There’s no point on knocking because he will never open the door for me”

 

Donghae gets inside

 

“Kyuhyun-ah”

 

Donghae went inside a very small room. He saw Kyuhyun lying on the floor, crying. He was holding an empty bottle of soju

 

“Aish!”

 

Donghae sits on the floor

 

“You’re drinking again”

 

Donghae grabs the empty bottle away from him

 

“I bought some lunch. Let’s eat together”

 

Kyuhyun ignores him

 

“Come on Kyu”

 

“Leave me alone”

 

Donghae shook his head

 

“Why are you doing this to yourself?”

 

He stares at Kyuhyun sadly

 

“Why do you need to isolate yourself and give up your wealth? Why do you need to live in a very small apartment when you have a mansion? Why do you always need to drink and cry every day and night? Why are you ruining your life like this?”

 

Kyuhyun shook his head; tears keep on falling from his eyes

 

“My life has no meaning at all. I don’t want to live anymore. I’m no longer the Cho Kyuhyun that you know before. I don’t have money. I lose everything. I lose my child, the girl that I love. I lose everything...I’m such a loser Hae. I’m such a loser”

 

Donghae stares at him sadly

 

“You lose everything because you choose to lose it. Your mom and dad are really worried. Why do you choose to live like this? Look at you. You look like a beggar and you lose some weight. Come on Kyu. Why are you doing this to yourself?”

 

“Just kill me Hae. I just want to die. I don’t want to live anymore knowing that I already lose Minnie. It’s hard to live because she’s no longer with me and I keep on losing her every day and will forever lose her”

 

Donghae sighs

 

“Kyu...”

 

“Just leave me alone Hae. I want to be alone. I will forever be alone because Minnie leaves me. I don’t know what to do and I just want to stop living. I don’t care with my life anymore. It’s been a year Hae. It’s been a year that I’m longing for her. You know? I feel so empty. I don’t want to sleep because I’m afraid to open my eyes. I’m afraid to open my eyes and find out that Minnie is no longer here beside me. It hurts me so much, but I can’t do anything because Minnie will never go back in my life again because I hurt her so badly and I’m so stupid. I’m the world’s number one stupid man and that’s the truth. I’m such a loser”

 

“What will I do to you?”

 

Kyuhyun just shook his head

 

“Go away. Just leave me alone”

 

“Kyu, please”

 

Kyuhyun closed his eyes and falls asleep because of crying. Donghae sighs

 

“It hurts to see you like this, but you need to bear all the pain for Minnie. I’m sorry”

 

Donghae saw a blanket at the corner

 

“I really can’t believe it”

 

He spread the blanket on the floor and carefully lay Kyuhyun there. He holds Kyuhyun’s forehead

 

“Aigoo! He’s burning”

 

Donghae looks for a small towel and immediately soak it on the water and put it on Kyuhyun’s forehead

 

“What will I do to you?”

 

Donghae removes his coat and wrap it on Kyuhyun’s body

 

“Look at you. I can’t believe that the well known President of Cho Corporation choose to live a life like a beggar”

 

Donghae sighs

 

“Do you think Minnie will be happy if she finds out about it? Aish! Why are you doing this to yourself?”

 

Donghae wipes the tears that fall on Kyuhyun’s eyes

 

“See? You’re crying again on your sleep”

 

Donghae shook his head

 

“Love is really complicated. It’s good that Hyukkie and I are not like this. We never hurt each other like this and that’s the thing that I can’t understand. Why do you need to hurt each other like this?”

 

Donghae place the food that he bought for Kyuhyun on the small table

 

“Please eat all of this when you wake up. Don’t be like this”

 

He stares at his watch and stands up

 

“Take care of yourself, arasso? Don’t be like this. I know it’s hard, but it’s your fault”

 

Donghae stares at him sadly before leaving the apartment carefully, avoiding waking Kyuhyun

 

 

 

 

*CALIFORNIA*

 

 

Sungmin run downstairs

 

“UNNIE!!!”

 

She went inside the dining room bringing an old newspaper. She saw Tiffany preparing the table

 

“Unnie”

 

Tiffany looks at her

 

“Yes?”

 

Sungmin walks towards her

 

“I found this old newspaper”

 

Tiffany looks at the newspaper that her cousin is holding

 

“What about the newspaper?”

 

Sungmin opens it and shows her an article about Kyuhyun

 

“Is this true?”

 

Tiffany stares at the article sadly

 

“Is this true Unnie? Cho Kyuhyun is no longer the President of Cho Corporation?”

 

Tiffany nods sadly

 

“But why?”

 

She shook her head

 

“If you want to know, just ask Hae. I’m also shock when I heard about it”

 

“Why you didn’t tell me?”

 

Tiffany stares at Sungmin’s worried face

 

“I thought you don’t want to hear anything about him? You don’t care anymore about him right? Why will I bother telling it to you? Beside, I don’t even know the real story behind it. I don’t want to ask Siwon or Hae”

 

Sungmin notice four plates on the table

 

“Unnie, we’re just three, right? Why is there another plate?”

 

Tiffany smiles at her

 

“Oh darling, I forgot to tell you that we’re going to have a visitor today”

 

“Who?”

 

Tiffany heard Siwon’s voice

 

“They’re here”

 

“Huh?”

 

Tiffany holds her cousins hand and drags her outside

 

“Youngwoon!”

 

Tiffany runs towards him and hugs him tight

 

“It’s good to see you again. It’s been a long time”

 

Youngwoon flash a bright smile

 

“I’m sorry Fany. I’m just busy lately”

 

“It’s ok. Siwon and I are also busy lately”

 

She holds Youngwoon’s hands

 

“But I’m happy that you can join us in dinner”

 

Tiffany smiles brightly

 

“Oh, by the way...”

 

She drags Youngwoon with her

 

“I’m going to introduce my cousin to you”

 

Youngwoon’s eyes widened when he saw Sungmin

 

“Hi there beautiful lady at the park awhile ago”

 

He smiles brightly at her

 

“We meet again”

 

Sungmin nods happily

 

“So, Fany is your cousin that you keep on telling me awhile ago?”

 

“Yes”

 

“Wow! What a very small world”

 

Siwon and Tiffany stare at them blankly

 

“You guys know each other?”

 

Siwon asks Youngwoon curiously. Youngwoon shook his head

 

“I just met that beautiful lady awhile ago at the park”

 

“I see”

 

Sungmin walks towards him

 

“It’s good to see you again. I’m happy to know that you’re Siwon Oppa’s good friend”

 

“I told you. We’re going to meet again”

 

Sungmin laughs softly. Tiffany coughs to catch their attention

 

“Ah...shall we eat our dinner now?”

 

Tiffany holds Sungmin’s hand

 

“Just follow us at the dining room. Dinner is ready”

 

Tiffany smiles and immediately drags Sungmin away with her

 

“She’s so beautiful. I like her”

 

Siwon stares at Youngwoon

 

“Is she single?”

 

“Yes, why?”

 

Youngwoon stares at Siwon with a bright smile on his face

 

“You know what I mean. Please help me with her”

 

Siwon laughs softly

 

“Let’s have our dinner now”

 

Siwon pats Youngwoon’s shoulder before going at the dining room

 

“I really like her. Getting to know each other is the first step”

 

Youngwoon smiles brightly and follows them at the dining room

 

 

 

 

 

“LEE DONGHAE!!!”

 

Kyuhyun went inside Donghae’s house

 

“LEE DONGHAE!!!”

 

Donghae was shock to see his best friend soaking wet

 

“Kyu? What the hell are you doing here?”

 

He frowns when he saw him holding a bottle of soju

 

“Oh no, not again”

 

Donghae stand up immediately and walk towards him

 

“You’re drunk again. I told you not to drink when you’re going to drive”

 

Kyuhyun stares at him

 

“Pabo! I don’t have a car anymore”

 

“Oh yes. How did you get here?”

 

“I walk because I don’t have money to ride a cab. I walk on the rain”

 

Kyuhyun laughs softly

 

“Aigoo! I’m such a loser, right?”

 

“Come on. Let’s change your clothes and you take a rest because you’re sick”

 

Kyuhyun drinks his soju

 

“Give me that!”

 

Donghae steal the bottle of soju away from him

 

“Will you please stop drinking?”

 

Donghae was shock when Kyuhyun starts crying

 

“I need your sister so bad. Where is she?”

 

Kyuhyun laughs softly and wipes his tears

 

“I’m crying again. Why am I crying again?”

 

Donghae holds Kyuhyun’s arm

 

“Ok. Let’s go. Come on. You’re already trembling”

 

“No! I’m going to my apartment now. My old and small apartment”

 

“Just stay here. It’s raining so hard”

 

“I don’t care”

 

Kyuhyun push Donghae away and run outside

 

“YAH!”

 

Donghae holds his head

 

“Aigoo! What the hell am I going to do with that brat young master?”

 

Donghae gets an umbrella and follows him outside. He saw Kyuhyun kneeling on the ground. He immediately runs towards him

 

“Kyu, let’s go inside”

 

Kyuhyun shook his head

 

“Come on Kyu”

 

Donghae holds his arm, but Kyuhyun pushes him away

 

“Go away!”

 

“Hey, don’t be like this. Let’s go in”

 

Kyuhyun shook his head. Donghae can clearly see his tears though it’s raining

 

“I just can’t go on with my life anymore. I want Minnie back. I can’t go on anymore”

 

Kyuhyun stands up

 

“LEE SUNGMIN!!!”

 

He starts shouting at the top of his lungs

 

“WHERE ARE YOU? PLEASE COMEBACK IN MY LIFE!!! DON’T DO THIS TO ME! I’M BEGGING YOU!!! LEE SUNGMIN!!!”

 

He lay down on the ground, crying hard

 

“Where are you baby? Please go back now. I need you. I don’t want to live anymore”

 

Donghae sighs. He kneel down on the ground and holds Kyuhyun’s arm

 

“Kyu, please...stop doing this to yourself”

 

“I don’t want to live anymore. There’s no point of living anymore”

 

Kyuhyun keeps on hitting his chest

 

“It hurts so badly. I’m so stupid. I’m so stupid. She’s gone because of my stupidity and she will never go back in my life again. I’M SO STUPID HAE!!! JUST KILL ME NOW!!!”

 

He crawls towards Donghae

 

“I’m begging you Hae. Just kill me. I don’t want to live anymore. It’s all my fault. She’s gone because of me. It’s all my fault. Why does it hurt so much? Why does baby Kyumin need to die? Why does Minnie need to go? WHY? TELL ME WHY? WHY DO I NEED TO BE STUPID AND HURT HER LIKE THAT?”

 

Donghae controls his tears from falling as he stares at Kyuhyun

 

“I lose two of the most important persons in my life because of my stupidity. They leave me because I’m so stupid. I’m such a fool, but even if I die tonight. I know that Minnie will never forgive me. She will never come back to me again because I hurt her so badly. I hurt the girl that I love most”

 

Tears keep on falling from Kyuhyun’s eyes

 

“I push her away. I didn’t even stop her from leaving. It’s so painful Hae. Living without her every day is like dying every second of my life. I don’t want to live anymore. I can’t go on without her”

 

Kyuhyun’s sight becomes blurry and everything becomes blank as he lose his consciousness

 

“Kyu!!!”

 

Donghae holds Kyuhyun’s forehead

 

“Aigoo! This is bad”

 

He calls his driver and they rush Kyuhyun in the hospital

 

 

 

 

Kyuhyun slowly opens his eyes and saw his mother crying beside him, holding his hand tight

 

“Umma, what happen to me?”

 

“Sweetheart”

 

Mrs. Cho hugs him

 

“Please stop doing this to yourself. Just go back at your house and be the President of the Cho Corporation. Your dad and I are worried about you. Please stop doing this to yourself. Just live the life you have before. You don’t need to hurt yourself like this”

 

Kyuhyun shook his head

 

“Umma, my life is no longer the same as before. My life is already ruin”

 

Mrs. Cho holds her son’s face

 

“No. Please don’t say that”

 

“My life is empty and I just don’t want to live it anymore”

 

Tears start falling from Kyuhyun’s eyes

 

“My life is no longer the same because Minnie is no longer beside me”

 

“We’re doing everything to find her. Just stop hurting yourself like this. Just go back, please”

 

Kyuhyun shook his head

 

“I don’t want to go back anymore. My life will never be the same again without her in my life. Umma, I lose everything because of my stupidity. I just can’t go on anymore. I just want to stop breathing so I won’t experience this pain anymore. I feel so empty without her. I miss her so much. I miss her smile, those smiles that always makes me strong whenever I feel so down. I miss her hugs. Her arms that always protect me when I feel so scared and weak. Those hands that always comfort me”

 

Kyuhyun starts crying hard

 

“I miss her laughter. I miss everything about her. I just miss her so much, but I can’t do anything. I don’t know what to do to bring her back. Umma, I lost the girl of my life because of my stupidity and she will never go back again because I hurt her so much. I didn’t listen to her. I fail to trust her until the end. It’s all my fault”

 

“Sweetheart, please stop blaming yourself. It’s hard for us to see you like this”

 

“If it’s hard for you, it’s much harder for me because I really don’t know how I am going to live my life without her”

 

“Sweetheart...”

 

Kyuhyun stares at the ceiling sadly

 

“I’m sorry Umma. I’m such a disappointment for you and Appa”

 

Mrs. Cho shook her head

 

“You never become a disappointment. Stop thinking like that”

 

Kyuhyun closed his eyes. Mrs. Cho wipes the tears that keep on falling from his eyes

 

“Just have a rest now, arasso? Have a proper rest”

 

“Umma, please tell me...please tell me that Minnie will be by my side when I wake up later. She will be here right?”

 

Mrs. Cho starts crying hard. She doesn’t know what to say and how to answer her son. She feels so sad for her son

 

“If only I can bring her back for you. I’m going to do it. If I need to beg for her, I’m going to do that just to see you happy again”

 

Mrs. Cho whispers. Her tears keep on falling seeing her son’s tears falling from his eyes again

 

 

 

 

Mr. Cho was talking with Donghae outside the hospital

 

“Hae, please...please tell me where to find your sister”

 

Donghae shook his head

 

“I’m sorry Appa. I know that Kyu and I are best of friends, but I won’t tell him where my sister is. I just want to teach him a lesson that he will never forget”

 

“But he’s already sorry”

 

“But that’s not enough. Minnie suffers a lot and Kyu’s suffering is not enough”

 

Mr. Cho stares at him. Donghae was shock when he kneel in front of him

 

“I’m begging you son. Please have mercy to our Kyuhyun-ah”

 

Donghae notice the tears that were about to fall from Mr. Cho’s eyes

 

“It’s hard for us to see him like that. I’m begging you. Have mercy on him. Kyuhyun is already paying everything. He just can’t go on without Minnie. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry for everything”

 

Donghae holds Mr. Cho’s arms and carefully lift him up

 

“Appa, I’m not Minnie. Don’t apologize to me”

 

He flash a weak smile

 

“Please don’t get me wrong. I know how much Kyu is suffering everyday and it’s also hard for me to see him like that. He is my best friend and we’re always remain as best friends even though the situation is like this. But please understand me Appa. I’m just doing this for the sake of my sister. I love Kyu and we always treat each other as real brothers and I always want him to end up with my sister”

 

He stares at Mr. Cho sadly

 

“I know that Kyu is already sorry, but Minnie is the one who will decide”

 

He bows at Mr. Cho before leaving the hospital

 

Donghae was driving his car while talking to his sister over the phone

 

“Did I disturb you?”

 

“Not really”

 

“Why are you still awake?”

 

Sungmin smiles

 

“Oppa, it’s just nine in the evening here. I’m still doing some business proposals”

 

Sungmin stares at her alarm clock and frowns

 

“Hey, why are you still awake? It’s already two in the afternoon there, right?”

 

Donghae nod

 

“Well, I’m just about to go home”

 

Sungmin pouts

 

“You’re making yourself busy again. Hyukkie Unnie will worry about you”

 

“Pabo! Just hang up now”

 

“Huh? You don’t want to talk to me anymore?”

 

“It’s not like that. I’m driving”

 

“What? Oppa, you’re really a hard headed boy”

 

Donghae laughs softly

 

“When are you going to visit me?”

 

Donghae shook his head

 

“I don’t know”

 

Sungmin pouts

 

“You’re so unfair”

 

“Please understand. I have a lot of things to do. I’ll just see you when you finally go back here in Seoul”

 

“Then you shall wait for m, arasso?”

 

“Arasso”

 

“Just hang up now. Drive safely

 

“Ah...Minnie”

 

“Yes?”

 

Donghae cough

 

“Are you not going to ask me anything?”

 

“Huh?”

 

“About Kyu?”

 

Sungmin frowns

 

“Oppa, don’t ever mention his name again. I don’t care about him anymore. I have my own life now. Be safe. I love you”

 

Sungmin hangs up

 

“Oh yes you have your own life now, but you just can’t deny the fact that you still love him and you’re still thinking about him. Aish!”

 

Donghae sighs and throws his mobile phone on the passenger’s seat

 

“I just can’t understand this couple. Love is really complicated especially if it’s Cho Kyuhyun and Lee Sungmin. Honestly, when will they learn to stop hurting each other like this?”

 

Donghae just shook his head and start driving his car fast

Next Chapter Preview: Minnie and Kyu will finally see each other after three years. Aigoo! What will the brat young master do if he finds out that Minnie is getting married with other man and he only have few days to stop it. Can he do that?
