Tutorial 6: Changing Gimp’s Start-Up Screen
Gimp 101Here are some premade Start-Up Screens that I’ve made:
I know they’re crappy but I tried. You’re free to use them if you like, no need to thank me or credit me. I might make more later, so keep checking back.

2. Go up to File > New and set it to these settings:
3. Paste a picture or just start brushing up the canvas until you’re done.
4. Once you’re finished, go up to File > Export to (always save images this way) and save it as gimp-splash.png because all the images Gimp has premade are in this format. After saving your new start-up screen, close Gimp entirely.
5. Find the picture you’ve saved and right click on it and click ‘Cut.’ Go to your start menu and click on ‘Computer.’ Go to OS (C:) > Program Files or Program Files (86x) > GIMP 2 > Share > gimp > 2.0 > images.
6. There you will see a gimp-splash.png already there. Click on it and hit ‘Delete’ on your keyboard. If a pop-up asks you if you are sure, click ‘Yes’ or ‘OK.’ Right click and click ‘Paste.’ Here is what it should look like afterwards:
7. Open Gimp back up and see if your new start-up screen is working. If so, congratulations! If not, go back and see if you followed the steps correctly and in order. If
