Tutorial 16: Motion Blurred Text

1. Open a canvas that is around 325 (width) X 100 (height). If you are working with a poster, make sure you are making the width of the text tool wider than you would normally do. You will see why as you follow this tutorial.
2. Make a wide text box on the canvas and type in the posters title or whatever you want to say. Center the text in the text box by clicking on the ‘Centered’ option next to ‘Justify’ in the tool options box underneath the tool palette. It is the third option to the right next to ‘Justify.’
3. Make a duplicate of the text layer by right clicking on the layer and clicking on ‘Duplicate Layer.’ You can also click on the ‘cut in half square’ which is at the bottom of the layers palette.
4. Click on the text layer that is above the background layer. Go up to Filters > Blur > Motion Blur. Try and copy these settings:
5. The blur you have just created is not centered with your text, its off to the left of your text. Now you have to move the blur so that it is centered with your text. Click on the crosshair tool on the tool palette and click on ‘Move the active layer’ option in the tool options. Like this:
