Tutorial 15: Blurred Text
Gimp 101This is a tutorial that is going to show you how to go from this:
To this:
1. Go to your finished poster, or open a canvas that is around 250 (width) X 100 (height).
2. Click on the text tool and click on your canvas, start typing the poster name or your username. Now go over to the text layer on the layer palette and create a duplicate of that layer. You can do this by right clicking on the layer and then clicking on ‘Duplicate Layer.’ There is also a small half cut-off square at the bottom of the layer palette, you can click on it to make a duplicate layer, it’s the fifth one to the right.
3. Now click on the text layer that is right above the background layer. Go up to Filters > Blur > Gaussian Blur. A popup should appear soon afterward, try and match it to my settings:
4. Now click on the above text layer that hasn’t been blurred. Lower its opacity to around 11.7% - 10%. It makes the blurry text easier to read and more legible. You don’t want your text just to be blurry because then no one is going to know what you’re trying to say on your poster or sign. Here is what you’re finished product should look like:
You don’t see blurry text often on AFF nowadays, so you probably won’t even need this tutorial. Anyhoo, I hope this has helped and please feel free to PM me, or commen
