It was two in the morning; I’ve been tossing and turning…

I couldn’t sleep, he was still on my mind; why? Because I am now developing feelings for him

‘He’ is Shin Dongho, my brother’s boyfriends’ cousin…..

I flipped onto my stomach and screamed into my pillow.

I thanked god that today was Saturday; I don’t know how to face him now after yesterday’s event…

“I’m an idiot” I mumbled, sighing in the end.

_Mid-Day Yesterday_

It was lunch time and I didn’t feel like eating, I wanted to sit in the music room and play random notes on the piano.

“Addy?” Kevin called, touching my arm gently “You alright?”

I nod and smile slightly “Is it alright if I go to the music room?”

“A lot on your mind?”

“Ne”

“Okay, I’ll bring you some food”

“Thank you Vinnie” I hugged him before leaving.

It didn’t take me long to get to the room I always visited after school before baseball practice; I sit on the bench and hit a few keys until a song comes to mind.

Hitting the last keys I smiled slightly

“That was amazing…” I jumped and turned to find Dongho; when did he get here?!

“D-Dongho h-h-hyung” I stuttered, idiot don’t stutter now!

“What was the tittle?” he asks, as if I didn’t stutter

“O-Oh, um…’F-Forever and always’…” I scratched the back of my head, a new habit I now have for when I get nervous or embarrassed.

“It was a beautiful piece”

I bit my lips softly, “I like the song, a lot”

“Sing a little, so that I can hear some of it” I felt a slight blush come over but I hide it and take a deep breath

“She says I…want you forever…forever and always.

Through the good, and the bad, and the ugly

We’ll grow old together, forever and always remember.

Whether happy, or sad, or whatever

We’ll still love each other.

Forever and always…” I sang, swaying my head slightly to the tune.

I sigh and look up to only find Dongho in front of me

I stared up at him “Hyung?”

He said nothing and slowly got closer

I began to panic but it went away when his arms wrapped around me

“Hey…what’s wrong?” I ask, patting his back

“Can we stay like this for a bit longer?” I couldn’t speak, but I nodded and soon hugged him back.

We stayed like this for a while before he pulled back “Thanks” I smile and stand after he takes a few steps back

“You’re welcome” I take a step but trip over his bag that he placed and you can pretty much guess what happened after.

He held onto me as we fell; my head was on his chest, near the crook of his neck; but it still hurt since my knee hit the ground first

“Are you alright?” Dongho groaned

“Y-Yeah…my knee hurts a bit though but I’ll be fi-” I froze mid-sentence as I looked up and my eyes widened at how close we were; let’s just say, dangerously close.

We stared into each other’s eyes until the bell woke us from our trance

Blinking I quickly get off him with a red face

“I-I’m s-s-sorry!” I stuttered, bowing and grab my bag before running to class.

_Present time_

My heart races every time I think about it, but then I think about why we cannot be together…

“Why is life so harsh on me…?” I ask out loud before turning over again and look at the clock, 3:33 a.m.

I groan and sit up “I need something to drink…”

I walk down stairs quietly, rubbing my face then groan in frustration; I have baseball in five hours!

“I need to sleep”

I get myself water and finish the bottle within seconds.

Sleep

I need to sleep

I have baseball in less than six hours

It’s a tough team so I need to rest now.

Forgetting about yesterday’s event for now I get up and sleep.

I wake to the sound of my alarm and get up “Ten minutes to get ready…” I groan, rubbing my eyes

“Aiden~~!” Kevin sings coming in after knocking; and sits next to me “Ready to play?”

“Yeah I guess…” I yawn

“Good, because we are going against the second best team in Seoul”

“I know…mind leaving and making me food?”

“Sure, what you want?”

“Something simple and light”

“Gotcha!” he left and I took that chance to wash up and change.

I run down the stairs putting my hat on and sit at the table

“Thanks Vinnie” I say before digging in

“Don’t choke”

“I womf” I say with a mouth full making Kevin shake his head at me.

“Coaches!!” The umpire yells

“Aiden come with me” I nod and follow after.

I shook the other coach’s hand and their catchers; I zoned out during the chat since it’s the same as always, listing rules and blah blah blah…

“Alright, good luck” coach says,

“Good luck” the catcher says, smirking at me; nodding my head slightly I walk back to the dugout

“Alright get out there and have fun, Dongho your pitching first, Aiden sit for now” I nod again and sit.

The first inning went well, we only got one run but it was better than none

“Young-min sit this inning, Aiden go out to short…”

“Ne coach”

I hurry out and get my practice grounders and wave to Kevin and Eli

“Balls in”

“I got base!” I yelled as Dongho throws the last pitch and the throw down commences.

I only got to field one grounder before we got all three outs.

“Good job boys” coach high fives us as we enter the dugout, “Woo hold it” I stopped and the coach whispers softly

“Catch looks like he wants to knock you down, be careful” he finishes with a slap on my shoulder

“Thanks”

On my up-bat I got walked and sighed; it was on purpose, but oh well, a free base is a free base.

One out and Dongho was in front of me on third

I look around the pitcher and see Kwangmin “Come on Kwangmin!”

He rips it into right field and past the player, I ran and rounded third

I look up to see Dongho signaling me to come home

Running in a saw the catcher set up to catch the ball; so now is the cue to slide.

While sliding my face met with leather, dust flew up everywhere and the catcher took another swing at me and knocked my helmet off and far from the two of us.

I turn over and cover my face as I tasted salt and felt my nose run; I knew it was blood

“Aiden!” I felt arms pick me up, but I kept my hands up over my face, “Aiden what’s wrong?”

“D-Dugout…n-now” I choked out, I felt another pair of arms help me stand and walk. Once I knew I was out of view of everyone I let my hands fall and everyone gasps

“T-That bad?” I was forced to sit and have my face cleaned, I try breathing through my nose but couldn’t

“Aw this hurts now…” I hissed as they placed ice over my nose

“Let me see your lower lip kid” the assistant coach says before cleaning it; “You feel okay?”

“Yeah…”

“You’ll sit next inning for rest and water. We need you okay?” I nod and remain calm as I keep my head back.

That was on purpose…they want to take me out….

I wince as I place light pressure on my nose “Next inning I can go in coach…”

“Are you sure? That was a hard hit you took”

“If I sit the rest of the game it shows weakn-”

“Kwangmin!” Young-min yelled from first and headed to home base, I stood and glanced to see everyone at home and soon Kwangmin was carried inside.

I glance over at the other dugout to see the other team cheering for what their player did, “Woo get the gear on!” I hear coach yell at me waking me from my trance

“Ne…” I look at the team once more before getting the gear on and heading out.

“Hey the nose bleeder is out!”

“Take him out again!” the other team yelled and laughed, I place the helmet down onto my head after wearing my hat backwards only to have it lifted again by Dongho

“What are you doing are you crazy?!”

“Maybe, I’ll be fine okay?” I said softly, he and I stare for a while before he sighs

“Fine, but I’m covering”

“Whatever floats your boat pitcher” I laughed as he rolls his head and puts the helmet on me and goes back to the mound.

Three innings later we are tied at 5-5 and it was the top of the 9^th, I poured ice cold water on my head shaking my head

“Aiden…” Kwangmin says softly scooting closer to me “Are you sure you’re alright?” he asks holding out more water for me

“Of course, why wouldn’t I?” I take a sip on the water and hand it back

“Well let’s see…You took a beating from the catcher, you have been ran over ever since I got knocked out at home….and your lip is bleeding again”

I wipe at my lip and see red and shrug, “’Play hard or go home’ and they want me to go home…I’m not backing down…”

“Aiden~” he whined shaking me by the shoulders “It’s not worth your life~!”

My head was spinning when he stopped “I’m fine~!” I whine

“I mean it; just let me take this last inning”

Being stubborn like always I shake my head “I’m finishing out with a bang…”

“What do you me-”

“Oh, we’re back out again! Bye!” I say and head out onto the field.

I sighed behind the plate as I framed another pitch and got the first out, “Time blue” once granted I head to the mound and look Dongho straight in the eyes

“I want you to focus on pitching, and not my safety got it?” I said straight forward

“I can’t help it alright? Easier said than done” he argues back

“I know you don’t want anyone hurting me but you need to set that aside for now and pitch normally, we are only up by one run and that of a catcher is on second. He has speed so we need to get the next batters out at the plate”

Dongho scoffs softly, then looks me in the eyes

“How about this, if we win; I’ll do something for you”

“Like what?”

“Like, I don’t know; buy you lunch?”

“I’ll decide on that”

“Fine, then focus!” I smack his head with my glove before I go back to home base and the inning starts again.

Two outs, runner-- on second, and still up by one

One more out just one mor-

Clink!

“God damn it” I muttered throwing my helmet off and stood in front of the base, right field got it and threw to Young-min than towards me,

“Take him out!!” the other team yelled as I straddled the base and tagged down hard after catching and flipped over the runner and landed harshly

“Catcher show the ball” the umpire said and I held my glove up and revealed the ball

“Batters out! Ball game!” I let my head fall back onto the dirt and sighed in pain

“Are you serious!? He didn’t tag me!”

“Yes he did; ball game” the blue said once more before walking off.

I felt my body being lifted and everyone shook me

“I’m getting sick here please stop!” they stop and chuckle at me; I rub my face and groan in pain from the impacted

“Hey you alright?” I look up to see Dongho looking at me worriedly

“Ne, just need to lay down”

“Well you are going to do that while waiting for your eomma have your new baby sibling”

My eyes widen slightly, “What?! We have to go now!”

“Calm down, we still need to do high fives”

“Screw that! We have to go now!”

“High-fives first, and I’m driving so you cannot leave yet” I glare at him

“Fine…”
