_Chapter 9_

_Aiden’s POV_

I sighed as I stepped out of the shower and looked at my reflection, the right side of my face was bruised badly, the cut on my lip could be easily spotted “Kevin~~!!” I whined walking into his room as he was taking off his shirt.

“What Aiden?” he asked turning to me, “Oh god!”

“It’s that bad?” I asked and pouted “Do you have any make up to cover it up?”

“Of course” he said and had me sit on his bed, “Wow….it looks like it hurts a lot”

“Not really…it did at first, but I’ve already gotten used to it….” I said and sighed

“My poor baby” Kevin said rubbing my cheek softly, “I sort of caused this…I’m sorry…”

“It’s fine Kev, remember what I said? I’m going to protect you”

“And I thank you for that…” he kissed my forehead and got the make up after putting on a shirt

“Ow!” I yelled when he accidently hit me

“Sorry, stay still…” he says applying the make-up.

 I yawn softly as Kevin finished with the make-up and looked at his phone, “Do you still want to go to the cemetery after dinner?” I sat there then nodded, “Okay go get changed, you are not wearing that”

I looked down to at the black capris sweats and loose red t-shirt then back at him “Okay”

“Good, I’ll make some soup” I nod and left the room.

After dinner we walked to the cemetery, it isn’t that far from home; so we will be back before the sun sets.

Kevin and I walked hand and hand, our bracelets clinging with each other every so often; I was looking at the now darkening sky, thinking of everything.

It wasn’t long until Kevin stopped and let go of my hand, I took a deep breath and looked at the three grave stones, I sat with Kevin and looked at each grave slowly,

“Umma, Appa, Deanna; we came to visit you” Kevin started, “How are you guys? We started high school, and it’s okay I guess…”

“Appa Aiden is so much like you now, so protective” he said placing his arm around my shoulder and brought me closer, “He is taking all the hits for me…please tell Aid to stop that”

I laughed softly then wiped some of the tears that were escaping my eyes “Umma…Appa….Deanna….I miss you…so much….I’m sorry for having to be sick that day….” My voice began to crack “If I was healthy you would be here, by our side…watching us grow with Deanna…”

“I know you are saying it isn’t my fault…but it feels like it….” Tears were streaming down my face “I miss you guys so much….” I repeated, Kevin hugged me and my hair.

He talked about our first week, about Joon; Eli, Ryeowook, Taemin, Sungmin, Donghae, and finally about me getting on the baseball team

“You should have seen it Appa, Aiden nearly took the coaches head off!” Kev exclaimed “And he throws hard, he bruised the assistant coach’s hand!”

I smiled at my brother, “I hope you are still watching over us and are proud…oh and Umma, Kevin is going to try and make me wear a dress! Tell him that is a big No-No!” I said pouting and Kev laughed

“Aiden it’s getting late, we should be heading home now….” I nod and take out three roses from behind me and laid one on each of the graves

“We’ll visit more often, I promise” I said “And I’ll bring you guys more flowers”

“Good night Umma”

“Appa”

“And Deanna”

“We love you, so very much” we said together.

The wind surrounded us and we smiled, thinking they were responding to us; we got up and started walking home, “Hey, it looks like it’s going to snow…” I say seeing the dark grey clouds

“I do too, let’s hurry” Kev said pulling me along as we ran back home

“Kevin and Aiden where were you?” aunt June asked as she placed her hands on her hips

Umma used to do that when Kev and I would be out late at a friend’s house I thought to myself

“We visited mom, dad, and Deanna’s graves today”

“Next time tell us” June said softly, “We thought something bad happened to you, I cannot bare the ideas of you two could have been killed or kidnapped”

“We’re sorry aunt June, I’ll take responsibility for our actions” I said standing in front of Kevin, June smiled softly as me when caresses my cheeks and I wince slightly but she didn’t notice

“You always do that…you really would do anything for your brother….”

More than you think…. I thought as she ruffled my hair

“Alright, off to bed, you two need to get up early”

“Ne” we said and walked up stairs and changed in our rooms.

I walked into Kevin’s room after changing and sat on his bed as he talked to Eli, I yawned and laid on my good side and laid my cheek on the pillow

“Yeah” I heard Kevin “He’s okay, we’re going to put make-up on it for now, even our aunt didn’t notice when she touched his cheek”

“Kevin…” I said softly “Can you sing me a lullaby?”

“Sure Aid” he said and my hair, “Sorry that was Aiden, today was exhausting for him”

“That sound perfect; yeah we would love to. Okay then I’ll talk to you tomorrow morning, good night”

“Kev it hurts…”

“It will for a while”

“Not my face…my heart….” He laid beside me and hugged me

“I know…it hurts me too…but we have a life to live for them” he began to rub my back and I started feeling sleepy, he sung the same lullaby he sang to me the first year we lived here after what happened to me.

When I would wake up screaming, yelling, crying in the middle of the night; he would come to my room and calm me down by singing

“Thank…you…..Kevin….” I whispered before falling asleep.

I saw awoken by a scream, I sat up alerted and looked around until I saw aunt June running to my side and caresses my cheek, “Oh my god, who did this to you??” she asked panicked

It took me a while to realized she could see the large bruise along my jaw, hurried footsteps rushed up and I saw Kevin, Eli, and another boy

“Aiden Ray Woo answer me now, who did this to you!” I took a deep breath after seeing Kev nod at me

“Some bully who was trying to hurt Kevin….” I said, looking down

“Oh my god Aiden…” she whispered, “does it hurt?”

“Not much, the nurse took care of it…”

“My poor baby, my brother would kill me….”

“Auntie it’s okay…” I said and held her hand in mine and smiled warmly at her, “I’m going to get ready for school”

“After I take you to the hospital to get this checked” my eyes widened when she said that

“No! What about Kevin!” I felt my heart race, I began to panic and Kevin knew what I was thinking and came over and hugged me, hushing me

“It’ll be okay, you’re just getting your face checked, Eli will watch over me okay? Nothing will happen...” I was shaking slightly but nodded.

After forty minutes passed Kevin kissed my head before leaving with Eli and the boy “Be good, I’ll see you at lunch”

“Okay, have fun hyung” I say before following June into the car and put my backpack in the back.

_Kevin’s POV_

I sighed as Eli held my hand, “So hyung” Dongho says from behind me “I heard Kibum’s brother is coming to this school too, along with his friend”

“Really?” Eli said, not really listening, I laugh softly and hit him playfully,

“Listen to him Eli”

“I am, I’m just not really interested…” I roll my eyes and the bus stops

“Since Joon isn’t coming I’ll watch over you today”

“Okay” I said with a smile; us, Eli, Dongho, and me; walk down the hall to my chemistry class, “I’ll see you when I get out”

“See you then” Eli smiled at me while Dongho rolled his eyes and dragged him away, making me laugh.

“Kev! Where’s Aiden? Is he okay?”

“Hey Zander, he went to the hospital with our aunt to check out his face, and he is getting better” I smiled,

“Okay…I was about to say…if I were you I’d sock Joon back, breaking his face…” I gasped, covering my mouth

“I couldn’t possibly do that!”

“Why?”

“I’m not a fighter….”

“And Aiden is?”

“Exactly…”

“Wow…” Zander said and I sat down and soon joined by Sungmin “So he’s skipping school?”

“No just the morning classes, he’s coming back at lunch”

“Ahhh” Zander says before yawning and taking his notebook out.

“So Aiden’s okay?” Sungmin asked and I nodded, “Good, Joon’s lucky then….I was going to hunt him down…”

“Thank you, but I think my twin will beat you to it” we laughed softly before the teacher came and started the lesson,

This is going to be a long morning I thought as I began taking notes and passing notes with Sungmin.

_Aiden’s POV_

I winced when the nurse placed a patch over my cheek and softly brushed her finger along it to smooth it out “There you go honey that should help” I nodded

“Thank you”

“You’re most certainly welcome” she smiled and walked out, I looked over at June,

“Kevin can apply the make-up when I get there….” I said, looking back at my now dangling feet

“You are just like your father…” she said, when I looked up I must have looked confused; just a bit.

“You’re father always took the hits for your mother and I when we were bullied…and would say ‘Just apply the make-up! I don’t care just put it on me!’” she laughed at the memory she was having.

“Kev says I’m just like appa…” I said, “I guess that’s a good thing, right?”

“In some ways yes…” I felt her my hair softly, “I’m glad you protected your brother…but it’s in the complete reverse….he should be protecting you…”

“I know…but he won’t fight back…I know it…” my hands balled up into fist, pulling at the fabric of my uniform “I won’t let anyone hurt him…”

I saw June smile and hug me, “Yes…just like your father” she said softly, a knock interrupted us and the doctor came in

“Alright, if the nurse has already taken care of you, you may leave”

“Thank you so much Mr. Choi, I really appreciate it”

“My pleasure” the man smiled and we left.

Once in the car I looked at the time and waited two minutes before calling Kevin

“Aiden! How did it go?”

“It went okay, he said the same thing the school nurse said; who are we eating with?”

“Sungmin, Ryeowook, Zander, Fishy, and Taemin. We are going to eat at their table”

“Sounds fine with me”

“Do you want me to get your food?”

“No I’ll get it myself, go ahead and eat with them and chat. Also before my next class will we have time to possibly apply some make-up to my bruised cheek?”

“We can try, but remember if you want it professionally done it’ll take a while”

“Okay, well if we have time then great, if not. I’ll deal with it”

“Okay, also you’ve become a huge topic in the school” I rolled my eyes

“Excellent, maybe I’ll have a fan club” I said sarcastically, when Kev was silent, “Seriously?!”

“Well yeah…you stood up to this Joon guy, so some of the guys admire you”

“Oh god” I mumble and look up to see the school just ahead, “I’m almost there, we’ll talk about it later in club”

“Okay, be careful”

“Will do Vinnie…” I say before closing my phone.

When June pulled up I slide my backpack on one side of my body and get out “Thank you June, Kev and I will see you at home”

“Alright, please be more careful” she says, “have fun” she waves to me after I close the door and she drives off.

I felt everyone staring at me when I went to my locker and open it, I heard someone clear their throat; I turned around to find a smiling Henry holding out a flower, a yellow rose, “Welcome back” he said softly.

I took the rose and smiled unconsciously, “Henry” I looked at him, “Thank you”

He smiled widely and hugged me “I hope you feel better Aiden, I have to go, I have a meeting with my club” I nod and hug him one last time before he runs off down the hall.

I examined the rose and smiled, closing my locker after getting what I needed and walked into the cafeteria, I spotted Kev easily.

I put my backpack down next to him and placed the rose on the table “Wow, where did you get that?”

“Henry just gave it to me, and saying get well” I say “I’ll be back, I’m starving…”

I grabbed a bowl of ramen and two bottles “Thank you” I smiled at the lady, I walk over to get myself a pair of chopsticks and such.

Turning around I walk forward and bump into someone and my food fell; on me and whoever I crashed into, “Omo are you okay?” I heard the other say

“I-I’m fine” I say, standing and looking at my food “Aish…guess I’ll take some of Kev’s food” I say to myself and feel something soft dab at my face

“Here let me help”

“Oh no, it’s okay; I wasn’t watching where I was walkin-” when I looked up I felt my cheeks heat up slightly.

The boy in front of me, he was handsome; he smiled at me and I felt more heat in my cheeks

Must be from the soup! Yeah, that must be why….

“You alright now?” he asked,

“I-I-I, Y-Yeah” I stuttered, mentally kicking myself; he laughed softly.

“I’m Park Jung Min, and you are”

“M-My name? I-I’m Woo Jung-Hwa….” I said; I felt shy now; what the hell is wrong with me?!  

“Jung-Hwa…” He said softly, looking me up and down

“But I prefer to be called Aiden…”

“Now I know why you look so familiar” he said “You’re the one that my friend’s younger brother friend hates…I wonder why, you are so cute”

I looked up at him; and, dare I say it, blushing now “Cute?”

“Yeah, you’re cute”

“T-Thank you I guess”

“Aiden!” I felt someone turn me and I saw Kevin looking at me worried, “Are you okay? I looked to see why you were taking so long”

“H-Hyung I’m fine”

“It’s my fault” Jung min said bowing

“It’s okay” Kev said, smiling slightly “Come on Aiden, I’ll share my ramen with my little brother” he cooed and pinched my good cheek

“Yah!” I blushed even more, How could he! Embarrass me in front of Jung min!

Wait…

He’s doing this on purpose!!

“Again I am sorry” Jung min said before handing the water bottles to Kevin and bowed before leaving us, I watched him leave

“Love at first sight?” Kevin whispered in my ear

“Yah!!!” I yelled and head locked him “Only I can tease you! You will pay Vinnie!”

“Yah! Don’t call me that in public!!” he yelled back.

The rest of the day went by fine, but I couldn’t concentrate on my lessons, I found out Dongho was Eli’s cousin and will be walking with us to and from school after Joon leaves, I noticed Dongho looking at me a lot today. Ignored it and thought of that guy, Park Jung Min…
