Koharu's POV

3 hours passed and the operations still goes.

And all I did in those 3 hours is cry. And I still do.

Thinking how idiot I am for letting Yabu-kun take all the pain by himself.

All the hate gathered for the past 9 months was thrown away.

Replaced by pain. The pain of not being able to help the one you love.

I feel so useless.

I feel so damn useless.

“And thank you. Thank you for existing.”

Why?! Why are you thankful for my existence?? Why are you thankful for the existence of someone as useless as me?!

I want to hurt myself.

I want to remove all the pain he’s feeling.

I want to help him.

But..I can’t.

Cause I’m useless.

I wasn’t even there when he suffers.

Useless.

Useless.

Forgive me, Yabu-kun.

“Koharu-chan!!” someone shouted.

I stood up and saw my friends. Their faces full of worry.

“Guys.” I said.

Akira-chan and Asuna-chan ran to me and hugged me.

“Thank you for coming…” I said with tears in my eyes.

Then they joined me in crying.

“Don’t cry Koharu-chan. He’ll surely survive. Stop crying.” Asuna-chan said who’s crying harder than me.

“You’re the one who cries so hard Asuna-chan!” Akira-chan said as they let go of the hug.

“It’s obvious that she’s been crying for hours so she’s dehydrated already. All the liquid in her body has been drained. Here.” Yamada-

kun said as he threw me a bottle of water.

“Arigatou.” I said.

“Koharu-chan,” Yaotome-kun said while his head bowed down.

“ Gomen.” he said.

I know they’re all sorry for hiding this to me but I need explanation.

“You guys have to explain all these things to me.” I said.

Keito-kun went closer.

“Let’s sit first.” He said.

We all sat down except for Yamada-kun.

I sat between Akira-chan and Asuna-chan.

Yaotome-kun sat on the floor with his legs crossed.

Yamada-kun remained standing.

Keito-kun and Asuna chan sat on the chairs on our right.

“The day before he broke up with you,” He started.

“He confirmed that he has brain tumor.” He said.

“I already know that.” I said.

“When you were hospitalized, he was looking at you from afar. He’s the one who takes care of you at night. He didn’t show because at

that time, he was diagnosed of brain tumor. But he did not believe it until it’s confirmed. And when you got out of the hospital, it was

confirmed.”

We’re all listening.

“He thought about it all night. He even asked me what to do. I told him to do what he thinks is right. I’m sure he also asked Yamada-

kun.” He said then looked at Yamada-kun.

Yamada-kun agreed.

“He transferred to another school with Freya-chan for you to believe that he loves Freya-chan and not you. He doesn’t want to hurt

you. But he knows that you’ll hurt more when he dies. He said those were all preparations. For you and for his death.”

“He’s not going to die.” I stood up.

“He’s not. Don’t worry.” Akira-chan said as she pulls me down to sit again.

“He was transferred to this hospital 2 months after he transferred. Yamada-kun, Freya-chan and I are the ones who took care of him.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?!!! I have all the right to know!! I should have taken care of him too!” I shouted as tears fall down my cheeks.

“Because we don’t know what you’ll do after knowing.” He defended.

“I’ll take care of him! I’ll do all I can to help him! I’ll always be by his side!!” I shouted.

“And stop studying.” Yamada-kun interrupted.

“Do you think he wants you to stop studying for him?” he asked as he went closer.

“But..”

“Do you think he wants you to stay by his side while you’re future is on the risk?” he asked again.

I was silent.

“Why did you come here in Japan?” he asked.

“To study.” I answered.

“See? He’s just thinking what’s best for you.” Yamada-kun said.

“He always thinks about you Koharu-chan.” Keito-kun added.

I cried harder at their words.

“Once in a while he vomits. And his head hurts. It’s obvious that he wants you by his side but he knows that you’ll hurt more when you

see him like that.” Keito-kun said.

“Why does he have to do all of that for someone like me? I don’t deserve this.. I don’t..” I said while my face is covered with my hands.

“You want to know why?” Freya-chan asked.

 I looked at her.

“Because he loves you more than anything or anyone else.” She said.

Silence fills the corridor.

After a few minutes, I spoke.

“He shouldn’t have.” I said.

“But he did.” Freya-chan said.

“All those time I was with him, he’s always thinking about you. It hurt me to hear him talking about you when I’m the one who’s there for

him. You know how much I want him to be mine at that time ne?” Freya-chan said.

“Hai.” I said.

“I eventually gave up. Seeing how much he loves you, I gave up.” She said.

 “He’ll survive. I know him. He’s a strong person.” Yamada-kun added.

“I’ll kill him if he doesn’t survive. Double dead. How can he leave someone like you? The gorgeous and lovely Kumiko Koharu??” she

said to lighten the mood.

“Yes. He won’t die that easily. Once, I tried to push him, like this” Asuna-chan said while acting as if pushing someone weakly. “But he

didn’t move even a little. So he’ll survive.” She added.

We all let out a laugh.

“So all you have to do now is continue to love him and believe that he’ll survive.” Yaotome-kun said.

They’re right.

Yabu-kun is so strong.

He won’t leave me.

Thank God. I’m so blessed to be surrounded by people like them.

Now that I’m not alone, I’ll be strong.

I have them.

I have him.

There’s no reason to give up.

Cause soon, Yabu-kun, we’ll surely see each other again.
