Another 3 hours passed and we’re still here in the hospital.

We should be celebrating now but

It’s about 1 am.

But the operation is not yet done.

They’re all sleeping. Except for Yamada-kun.

“Daijobou desu ka?” he asked.

“Hai.” I forced a smile.

I’m just listening to Yabu’s heartbeat with the ECG. It’s still the same since the operation started.

His heartbeat is music to my ears.

It tells me that he’s alive.

His heartbeat, it got weaker.

What’s happening?

The doctors are panicking.

Yamada-kun and I stood up.

“Yamada-kun, this is not happening. Tell me..Yamada-kun.” I said as tears fall.

The others we’re awakened by the noise.

A nurse went out of the OR.

“His condition got worse. We need to transfer him to another hospital or else..” He said.

I covered my mouth with my hands. I bursted into tears.

“WHAT ELSE ARE YOU DOING?!!TRANSFER HIM NOW!!!” I shouted.

“No. I’ll call the doctor. It’s very dangerous for him to travel. Give me the name and address.” Keito-kun said.

He looked at the paper.

“Shinto-san?” Freya-chan asked.

A smile formed in Keito-kun’s lips.

“Tell the doctor to keep him alive until this doctor arrives.” He added.

“Hai.” The nurse said as he immediately return to the room.

Keito-kun dialed his phone.

 “Bill-kun, you have to bring Shinto-san here in 10 minutes. If not, both of you will die.” He said on the phone.

“Keito-kun, that’s too much” I said.

“Trust him.” Freya-chan told me as she put a hand on my shoulder.

I don’t know what happened, but I trust Keito-kun a lot.

So I nodded.

I can still hear Yabu-kun’s heartbeat. But it’s getting weaker and weaker.

Yabu-kun, be strong.

God, please let him live.

Please.

After a few minutes.

The nurse went out again.

“Isn’t he here yet?” he asked.

“Why what’s happening?” I asked.

The doctor went out too.

“We really need him now.” The doctor said.

And the moment he said that, the other doctor arrived.

“You made it.” Keito-kun said.

Akira-chan and the others let out a sigh.

“Move now!! Save him!!!” I shouted.

“I’ll do what I can.” Shinto-san said and went in.

I feel so desperate.

Yes. I’m desperate.

Desperate to see him live again.

He’ll survive this.

No one can beat him.

He’s a fighter right?

No one wins over you. Even this tumor.

An hour passed and nothing changed.

His heartbeat is still weak.

We’re all still shocked and awake of what happened earlier.

That was a life and death situation.

We’re all sitting. We’re all tired.

I didn’t notice that I slept. The others fell asleep too except for Yamada-kun.

He must be really worried.

Yabu-kun is his best friend.

Even I wouldn’t be able to sleep when Koharu-chan would be in a situation like this.

That’s about an hour.

But I woke up. I don’t know why.

I need to stay awake.

I went to the ladies room.

I washed my face.

I’m really tired but I have to stay awake for him.

He needs my support.

But as I wipe my face, I felt something weird.

I was suddenly nervous.

I don’t know why but my heart beats fast.

It felt like something bad happened.

I immediately ran back to the OR.

I ran as fast as I could.

And when I was there, Akira-chan and Asuna-chan are crying.

Yamada-kun is holding Shinto-san on his collar.

Why are they here? They should be operating Yabu-kun.

“SO YOU’RE TELLING ME THAT HE’S ALREADY DEAD?!!” Yamada-kun shouted.

Shinto-san nodded.

“I’m sorry. But we did our best.”

My tears fell again.

I feel so weak.

I’m shaking.

“No. No. You’re lying..” I said weakly as I ran to the OR.

The nurses stopped me from entering.

“You can’t Ma’am.” They said.

“LET ME GO!!!” I shouted and they all backed down.

I pushed the doors.

And I saw a pale and lifeless Yabu-kun.

“NO!!!!! NO!!!!!” I shouted.

I ran to him and held his hand.

“YABU-KUN!! WAKE UP!! WAKE UP!!! OPEN YOUR EYES!!” I shouted wishing for him to hear it.

I keep on shaking him to wake him up.

“Open your eyes…you can’t leave me..no.. please…open your eyes…show me that you survived…”

“You said you’ll live.. you promised.. you have to keep your promise Yabu-kun..Don’t leave me

again..please..wake up..”

“Koharu-chan…calm down.” Akira-chan said as she hug me.

“He won’t leave me, right Akira-chan? He promised me..” I said.

I held his hand and put it on my cheek.

He’s so cold.

“He’s not dead. He’s just sleeping.” I said trying to fool myself again.

“Tell me..please tell me.. “

“Because I don’t know if I can go on like this..w]ithout him..”

“He’s….gone Koharu-chan…”Akira-chan said between her tears.

“NO!!!” I shouted.

Yamada-kun entered too.

He went to Yabu-kun’s other side.

He fell on his knees.

 He’s crying.

Then he punched the floor strongly that his hand bled.

“This can’t be..” he said.

Asuna-chan went in.

“Yabu-kun…” she said her eyes filled with tears. She went beside Yamada-kun and cried at Yabu-kun’s bed.

We can hear Keito-kun shouting outside.

“You’re specializing in brain surgeries right?!! Then where’s the sense in that if you can’t even save his life!!!”

His voice shaking.

“You’re completely useless!” he shouted again.

“Get lost!!!” he said.
