Chapter 13
Seoul, Saranghae"He practically said no," Yoonhee slumped into her pillow, answering her band mates' questions about doing a duet with Hongki.
"Hey, you don't know that for sure yet," said Haeyoung, "Just give him some time to think about it."
"Am I being too much?" Yoonhee asked worriedly, then clutched onto Haeyoung's arm with a dramatic expression, "Is there something wrong with me?"
"No, he's just being a ," Eunji said dismissively, "I guess celebrities are bound to get caught up in their fame eventually. They get arrogant."
"That's not going to happen to us, will it?" Miyoung asked, suddenly worried.
"Of course not," Haeyoung assured her, then hit Eunji's arm lightly, "Don't generalize. I don't know about Hongki, but Jonghun is really down to earth."
"Ugh, just go out already. You two already look like a couple, what with your perfect little leader personalities and your perfect little musician vibes," Yoonhee cringed, and they all laughed.
"Not funny guys," Haeyoung deadpanned them, but then seemed to remember something. She turned to Eunji, "And what about you, Ms. Taking-forever-to-leave-FT-Island's-dressing-room-after-the-broadcast? Care to explain yourself?"
Eunji raised on eyebrow. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"But FT Island wasn't in their dressing room, remember? We were talking to them outside before they went to their van with their manager," Miyoung recalled.
Yoonhee's eyes widened. "No, Miyoung," she shook her head, a knowing grin creeping across her face, "Jaejin wasn't there."
Eunji's eyes shifted between her band mates as a silence settled over them. All of their jaws dropped simultaneously, and Eunji held her best poker face as three pairs of eyes bore into her.
The three girls screamed in delight as they pounced on Eunji, shaking her arms and demanding all the details.
"YOU AND JAEJIN?"
"DOES HE LIKE YOU?"
"ARE YOU DATING?"
Eunji could hardly fit in a word to tell them about the kiss, but also explain that they weren't dating. To her band mates, she insisted that there had never been anything going on between them, but honestly she wasn't quite sure where she and Jaejin stood. He wasn't an area of her life she wanted to be gossiping about with her UC Love sisters, even if they were like sisters; it was something she needed time to figure out on her own.
Her ringtone interrupted the chatter, and she glanced at the screen.
"Who is it?" Haeyoung asked as she noticed Eunji's eyes widen slightly.
Yoonhee tried to read the caller ID, but Eunji hid the screen. Miyoung grabbed her hand, making her reveal who the caller was.
"IT'S JAEJIN!" they squealed, and Eunji had to yell for them to shut up.
Stepping outside where she knew she could get some peace and quiet, Eunji finally answered.
"What's up?" she asked, honestly curious as to why he would be calling. Didn't he say he was busy for the rest of the night?
"Eunji," Jaejin was quiet for a moment on the other end of the line, "I was thinking maybe I would take you up on that offer... You know, to hang out."
To Jaejin, it felt like it took a lifetime for Eunji to reply, although in reality her stunned silence only lasted a few seconds. "That sounds good," she smiled, even though Jaejin couldn't see it.
Somehow, deep down, Jaejin had let go of his apprehension. If there was a little voice in the back of his head telling him to fear the future, he couldn't hear it anymore. He no longer w
