The Chase

I Couldn't Care Less

You don't have to call me every day.” Luhan told him, eyes avoiding his own.

I'm going to.” Because it's so obvious you want me to.

Luhan smiled and gestured towards the sliding doors – doors Sehun doesn't quite want to pass through just yet.  You're going to miss your flight if you don't go now.”

Sehun frowned because he knew Luhan was right. He can't stall any longer. He can't stay with Luhan any longer. He turned to leave, but after taking three steps, he looked back. “Don't worry too much. Eat all your meals. If you get sick, make sure to take medication -”

The older boy crossed his arms. “Sehun-ah, I should be telling you that.”

Just take care of yourself.” I swear Bambi, if something happens to you I'm going to be on the next flight back. I'll freaking swim if I have to..

Luhan smiled and Sehun wished he hadn't – it only made leaving that much harder.

You too, Sehun-ah. Now go.”

Sehun took a deep breath. You can do this! It won't be that long. With one final look towards his boyfriend, he waved him bye, and stepped past the doors, refusing to look back. It's better this way Sehun told himself as he looked straight ahead towards the waiting plane.

Luckily on the plane, he got a window seat so for the rest of the flight all he did was stare out the window, wondering how Luhan was handling the separation. He's probably moping around in the room.

Sehun took out his phone and plugged his earphones into the headset. He pressed play on one of the many videos he had of his boyfriend. A smile plastered itself on his face as soon as he saw Luhan's face appear on the screen, eyes twinkling. It was a video of when they visited a new bakery that had opened near campus and Luhan was especially excited to be there. To say he was happy is a complete understatement - the older boy was practically skipping around the store.

Sitting on a plane 30,000 feet in the air, watching Luhan try the many cake samples with glee, Sehun knew that it was going to be far from easy to be away from the older boy for so long. This .

When he finally landed, he got on the big tour bus the sponsors of the trip had provided for them. The first thing he did when he sat down was dial that familiar number. Hearing Luhan's voice on the other line, Sehun's heart let out a relaxed sigh. He didn't know he was on edge the whole time and that only Luhan's voice can make him feel at ease.

Maybe the distance between them is tolerable after all, if he just gets to hear his boyfriend's voice every day. Maybe..... Doubt it.

After telling Luhan that he should only text him for emergencies, the boy had sent him a quick reply back.

Sehun-ah, I love you too!

He doesn't listen to anything I say... Sehun's lips curved upwards.

In his assigned hotel room, Sehun started unpacking, only to sadly find out that he forgot his laptop. Great, now how am I supposed to video-chat him??

Yo Sehun man!” A horribly familiar voice called out from the door.

Sehun spun around to find the punk that had pushed Luhan against the bathroom wall standing cockily by the door. He mentally groaned. I have to room with him!??!

Aren't you happy to see me? It's been forever since we've last talked man.” The guy walked in and threw his bags on the bed closest to the door.

Sehun grunted in response. No, I'm not happy to see you.

So roomie, you're ready to have fun on this trip?” He grinned at Sehun, who gave him the best I-don't-give-a-damn face in return. The boy continued grinning like an idiot.

Sehun has never seen anyone so dense, so ignorant to the fact that his presence was not wanted. He rolled his eyes and went back to unpacking.

Sehun couldn't help but think that it'll be amazing if he doesn't get into a fist fight with this punk sooner or later.

DAY 1

Sehun wakes up grouchy.

He was so used to having Luhan by his side in the morning, that he got extremely annoyed at the fact that he doesn't have that familiar head of honey brown hair tucked between his neck and shoulder. Luhan's arms were not wrapped around his waist and his nose was not nuzzling Sehun's chest. All the comfort of waking up in the morning was no longer there.

It was damn irritating waking up alone, without Luhan (not to mention waking to the sight of that jerk sleeping on the bed across from his).

He picked up his phone from the nightstand and dialed Luhan's number. He desperately needed to hear his voice, to give him some sort of assurance.

Over the phone, he told Luhan about the hotel, his schedule and that he was excited to see the island, leaving out the part about his punk roommate. Luhan didn't need to know that.

Luhan asserted that he doesn't have to call so many times, but Sehun insisted that he'll call him two times a day. It was the only part of the day Sehun genuinely looked forward to. Besides, when the bill comes, he'll just persuade Luhan to pay it for him.

After hanging up, Sehun made his way to the bathroom. When he got out, the guy was awake, rubbing his eyes.

Morning Sehun. Were you talking to someone earlier?”

Yeah,” Sehun replied curtly.

Girlfriend?” The guy smirked. Sehun clenched his fist.

No. Boyfriend,” he said flatly, ignoring the shock look on the guy's face.

B-boyfriend???” He stuttered.

Yeah. Do you have a problem with that?” Sehun glared at him, silently daring the guy to have a problem with that.

The guy sat there quietly for a few seconds, uneasiness evident on his face. “Uh...uh no. D-do I know the g-guy?

Yeah. Luhan.” Sehun made sure to pronounce his boyfriend's name slowly, to let it soak it. It worked because the guy's eyes dilated.

The guy shifted uncomfortably under his blankets. “Oh. I see. Well excuse me -” He got up and quickly walked to the bathroom, not looking Sehun straight in the eye.

Fists finally loosening, Sehun took a deep breath and exhaled. It was the first time he'd ever told anyone about his relationship with Luhan, and it felt good to let it out. Really really good.

After having breakfast, students went into the conference room where a sort of introduction meeting took place. The professors went over the objectives of the trip, the itinerary, and the rules all students must adhere to. It was boring to say the least.

For their break, the students got to go do whatever they want, and Sehun chose to go to the gift shop because he knew Luhan was expecting some sort of souvenir. Since dolhareubang (stone grandfather) is one of the most famous symbol of the island, Sehun bought a pair of cute kissing miniature stone souvenir. Surely, Luhan will like this.

Following lunch, they were forced back into the conference room to listen to a special guest speaker talk about his own experiences of being a music major at Suk-Myeong University. Sehun honestly could list a million things he would rather do than listen to this guy – like call Luhan for example.

When the lecture ended, Sehun headed back to his room, not surprised to find a new guy sitting on the bed. Apparently his previous roommate decided that it was better to switch rooms with another student than to deal with Sehun's unpleasant aura, or maybe he was a homophobe? Whatever the reason, Sehun was glad to not be force to see that guy's face again. His presence will not be missed.

After greeting his new roommate, Sehun grabbed his phone and went out to the balcony. It was late at night but Sehun knew Luhan wasn't asleep yet, so he called him.

A smile never fails to find its way across his face whenever he hears that sweet voice on the other end. Luhan didn't talk much, but that was okay because Sehun knew that he was content with just listening.

On the other hand, Sehun was content with just knowing that Luhan was doing fine.

DAY 2

The day started off better than the first. Instead of boring lectures and information sessions, they actually got to interact with some of the famous musicians the school had specially invited. Sehun was particularly pleased with being able to meet one of Korea's top pianist. He made sure to take a picture of the guy to show off to his hyungs at home (though he doubts they even know who the guy was).

Without fail, he called Luhan before he goes to bed. Being too tired to talk about how his day went, Sehun opted to ask Luhan what he'd been doing and the boy cheerfully told him. It was nice to hear his chirpy voice again.

Sehun was worried that Luhan was handling the temporary separation badly, but thankfully he seemed fine. In fact, it seemed like he was handling it better than Sehun, or could it just be his imagination?

Regardless, Luhan was a lot stronger than he thought and Sehun couldn't help but feel proud of his boyfriend for not hopping on a flight and running to his hotel room.

DAY 3

Everybody was forced to wake up earlier than expected and that meant that Sehun didn't have time to call Luhan. He's going to freak out if I don't call him soon.

When they got on the tour bus, Sehun decided that he'll call him when they get to their destination since it was too loud to even hear himself think.

But as soon as he stepped off the bus, he looked at his phone and frowned. He had no service out here in the wild of Jeju. They were sightseeing around the island, and yes it was beautiful and all, but he could not for the love of Luhan find a single bar on his phone. I guess I'll have to call him later. He gave up and chose to take tons of pictures instead, to show Luhan later when he gets back.

Jeju island was definitely a place he'd like to take Luhan to (maybe on their one year anniversary?).

By the time the group got back to the hotel, Sehun was completely wiped out (Jeju was not that small of an island). Not having the energy to even pick up his phone, Sehun plopped down on his bed and fell asleep as soon as his head landed on the soft welcoming pillow. I'll call him first thing tomorrow.

DAY 4

Since the students had a free day today, Sehun didn't wake up till late in the afternoon.

When he finally woke up, he was nervous as to whether or not Luhan was going to be mad at him for not calling.

But Luhan didn't pick up when he called.

He called again. And again. And again. And a few more times. Still no Luhan.

Is he ignoring my calls? Is he mad at me? He dialed the number again, impatiently tapping his fingers on the table while he listened to the dial tone. The phone went straight to voice mail.

Sehun's eyes widen. WHAT IF SOMETHING HAPPENED TO HIM?!?!?!

Immediately grabbing his suitcase from under his bed (he kept it close to him in case he needed to pack quickly, in situations like this), he threw all of his clothes in while calling Chanyeol's number.

Chanyeol hyung, is Luhan hyung with you? Do you know where he is?” Sehun did his best to sound calm.

He should be at work. Why?”

Because for some reason he's not picking up my calls.”

Oh. Maybe he's kidnapped?”

WHAT?!?!?!” Sehun was already zipping up his suitcase by now.

Chanyeol snickered. “I'm just kidding. I'm sure he's fine – probably busy attending to customers. Caffeine addicts are demanding people. He can't be picking up his phone whenever you call maknae.”

Don't joke around hyung! You know I'm serious when it comes to Luhan hyung.” Sehun let out a shrill cry. His hyung's teasing couldn't come at a worse time.

Chanyeol laughed. “Okay okay. I'm sorry. Luhan hyung is alright.”

Are you absolutely positive?”

Yes! Don't worry so much. I bet you already have your suitcase packed right?” He could tell Chanyeol was smirking at him.

Sehun placed his suitcase on the bed and stood there, staring at it. He sighed. “Can you tell him to call me when he gets home from work? I really need to talk to him.”

Sure.”

For the rest of the day, Sehun waited for the phone call, but it never came. He had to constantly resist the urge to run out of the hotel and take a taxi to the airport to fly back to his boyfriend, who he will surely scold for not picking up the darn phone!

DAY 5

The next morning, he wakes to his ringing phone. Quickly shoving it against his ear, Sehun is beyond relieved to hear that soft voice on the other end. Luhan.

After letting out his frustration on the older boy, Sehun was hoping to talk a little more, but Luhan had to work. I finally get to talk to you and you have to leave so soon....Fantastic.

DAY 6

The trip was going well, but it wasn't exactly worth being away from his boyfriend for so long.

It has been 6 days since he last saw Luhan, and quite frankly it was driving him crazy. Whenever he was in the hotel lobby or in the dining halls, his eyes would automatically dart towards anything that reminded him of the boy. Once he even chased a student down when he spotted honey brown hair, but of course it wasn't Luhan.

How could it be Luhan? He was in Seoul.

DAY 7

Sehun got off the phone with Luhan, sensing something was up. The older boy sounded determined, but determined to do what exactly?

It was late when they got back to the hotel from yet another tour of the island (this time they went to visit the famous volcano site). Sehun was waiting for the head of the music department to pass out the schedule sheet for tomorrow when suddenly a flash of honey brown hair entered his peripheral vision. Luhan? His heartbeat quicken at the thought of Luhan.

It can't be.... Shaking his head, Sehun went back to focusing on the man who was passing out the papers ever so slowly.

Standing in front of the big fountain, Sehun could see all the people getting on the glass elevators and –

LUHAN?!?!?!?

There was no doubt about it this time. One of the figure on the elevator was definitely his boyfriend. That head of fluffy honey brown hair, that familiar silhouette, those familiar clothes, those wondering doe-like eyes.

It was Luhan.

Instinctively, Sehun bolted towards the stairs, hoping to catch up to the elevator that was taking his boyfriend up to an unknown level. Each time he got to a floor, he would see the elevator doors closing and his boyfriend's hair would stick out from the back of the small cube, encouraging him to go back to the stairwell and continue running up.

It was the 14th floor when Luhan finally got off, and Sehun couldn't be happier for he was going to collapse at any moment from all that running.

Huffing and puffing, he stealthy followed the older boy through the corridor. Luhan was pushing a suitcase with a broken wheel – the same suitcase he had when they first met in the elevators at the beginning of the school year.

Luhan got to what Sehun supposed was his room, and unlocked the door, quickly getting in.

What is he doing here?

Standing in front of Luhan's door, Sehun smirked. Luhan was on the other side of this door. After days away from each other, they were now only separated by a mere wooden door -

A door Sehun was more than happy to knock on.

KNOCK KNOCK

~~~~~~ OOOOOOO Sehunnie finally gets to see his Lulu again!!! Running up 14 flight of stairs is definitely admirable. Good job Sehunnie :) Go get your Bambi. Knock down that door and kiss him! I'll update soon (whenever I find the time).
Hope you guys enjoyed the chapter. Thanks  ♥
Also this is the souvenir Sehun got for Luhan. Cute eh? Lol
