The painful memories flashed through his mind.  His eyes shot open as he gasped for breath.  The truth was too painful.  It was too much for him to bear.  He lay there, staring up at the white ceiling.  It took him a few moment to realise where he was.  He tried to sit up, but grimaced when he felt the sharp pain in his chest.

"You shouldn't move," said a voice.  "Unless you want your wound to reopen."

He jerked in surprise at the sound of the voice.  He felt his heart skip a beat.  He prayed he wasn't dreaming.  Holding his breath, he turned his head to the side.  There, stood the man he was hoping for.  Relief swept over him as he let out his breath.

"I-" He began, but was cut off abruptly.

"I came to warn you," said the man.  "Don't ever come near me again!"

With those words, he walked out the door without a second glance back at the boy, with tears in his eyes and a heart broken in pieces.
