Although the rain made him restless, Kibum was able to fall asleep that night. Maybe it was because he’d exhausted himself from crying or because Heechul had lay with him for hours, but sleep actually came that night. It was almost a surprise because usually whenever it rained he would be up for hours staring at the ceiling. So when a loud crack of thunder shook the house, Kibum was not pleased in the slightest when he woke up. Groaning in annoyance, he rolled over and squinted at his clock, scoffing loudly when he saw that it was two-twenty in the morning. But that was it; sleep was now gone completely. Sighing in annoyance, he threw his legs over the side of the bed and stood up, walking out of his room.

The light in the hallway was on, as always, giving him vision to make his way downstairs without falling down the stairs. Once down, he headed towards the kitchen for a late night snack, hoping that some food in his stomach would make him sleepy or something. However, before he made it to the kitchen, Kibum heard something that made him stop in his tracks. He stayed very still and listened carefully and there it was again; the sound of crying. Knowing that it could only be one person, Kibum quickly turned around and walked towards the hall where Mir’s bedroom was and pushed open the door. There he found Mir sitting up in bed, clutching his pink cat in his arms as he cried into it.

“Mir,” Kibum whisper, feeling his heart ache to see his brother crying like this; nothing made Mir cry. Mir instantly looked up with tear filled eyes and Kibum quickly walked over and sat next to him on the bed, pulling him into his arms the same way Heechul had done for himself earlier.

“I’m scared of the thunder,” Mir confessed, holding onto Kibum as if his life depended on it. As another bout of thunder roared and lightening lit up the night sky, a fresh round of tears made their way down his cheeks, staining Kibum’s t-shirt as he buried his head into it. Kibum hugged him tightly and patted his back comfortingly. It was a bit of a surprise, actually; he’d never known that Mir was scared of thunder.

“Why didn’t you come upstairs, then?” He asked curiously, gently prying Mir off of him. Mir sniffled and wiped away some of his tears.

“Because I was scared that something was going to get me,” He mumbled, twiddling his thumbs together. Hearing this, Kibum fought back a grin and looked away for a moment.

“What exactly do you think would jump out and get you?” He asked in an amused tone of voice.

“Well…a monster.”

Kibum trembled slightly, suppressing giggles that threatened to burst. He put but hand over his mouth and snickered, earning him a harsh smack from Mir.

“It’s not funny!” He exclaimed, crossing his arms and glaring at Kibum, who was now laughing gleefully at him.

“I know, I’m sorry but…a monster, Mir?” Kibum replied, poking his brother in the side. Mir huffed and swatted his hand away.

“So? At least I can sleep without a nightlight! You can’t even go to sleep unless the hall lights are on, you big baby!” Mir shot back with a smirk.

“Whatever! You look tired, let’s go back to sleep. I’ll lay with you,” Kibum responded. Mir nodded and scoot over on his bed so that Kibum could slid in next to him. Once they were all settled, with Mir’s pink cat in between them, sleep came too easily for the both of them.
