The Past
Destiny
The search began again. Eunbi tried to focus on looking for the museums and art gallery around Paris while Eunbi stayed to accompany her anywhere. With all patience, they visited and marked all the possible places, one by one. Yerin even asked each security man at each place just in case they ever recognized Yuju. She felt like needing to do an extra miles that time. She had to find Yuju.
Reaching the afternoon, they both decided to stop the search and went to a nearby restaurant. Yerin stared at her phone. It was a message from Steven Choi, Yuju's older and only brother. It was a deadlock as well. No contact shown by Yuju and she didn't use her bank account or credit cards. Until that day, everything remained the same where no single clue found to support the search. It was so strange how Yuju didn't even use her bank account or credit card. Yuju was not a criminal, but why did she have to act like one?
"Any clue?"
"It's from Steven oppa." Yerin replied. "He's still looking for Yuju as well."
"I see." Eunbi moved the bowl in front of her. "Eat now."
"Don't worry. I will." Yerin smiled at the woman in front of her. She made everything feel a lot better. Yerin had to admit. "Are you tired?"
"Not really." Eunbi replied courtly. "Actually, I need to leave now."
"Where do you want to go?
"Ryujin just texted me and she asked to meet me somewhere." Eunbi explained. "She'll fly back to Korea tomorrow morning. I think she just needs a company. I haven't thanked her though. Is it okay to leave?"
"Sure. Why would you think it'd be a problem if you leave?"
Yerin bit her own tongue. She could feel the conversation tensed up after her last sentence. She felt like she should have not put Eunbi in a hard situation like that, not when she clearly didn't have the right to do it. Eunbi did literally nothing wrong, a zero mistake on her. She couldn't just punish her for what she did to Ryujin. On the other side, Eunbi decided to take it easy. She smiled widely while preparing her bag.
"Ryujin is a beautiful woman, isn't she?"
"Yes. Surely she is."
"Do you like her?"
"Ryujin? Sure. Who doesn't like her?" Eunbi grinned. "She's beautiful, smart, funny and caring."
"I mean, do you like her—as in, love."
"What? Why do you ask me this?" Eunbi looked so uncomfortable with the question. "I know her since forever. We even studied at the same school until high school." Eunbi looked away. She hated like the situation. "She's like a sister to me."
"Did it disturb you? My question." Yerin asked. "I'm sorry."
"What this is all about?"
"You and Ryujin."
"Me and Ryujin?"
"Yeah."
"Nothing happened."
Eunbi put her bag on top of the table. She stopped her movement completely.
"Nevermind. Really." Yerin wished Eunbi to just disappear right away. "I think you should go. I'll be okay with Mathieu."
"Are you sure? You don't look okay."
"Why would I be not okay with that? You can meet whoever you want. I'm just a friend." Yerin sighed. "You can go now."
"Well, I didn't say that—" Eunbi gasped. Later she decided to withdraw herself. "Nevermind."
Eunbi left with a big doubt in her chest. She didn't understand Yerin's reaction at all. 'What did I do wrong?' Eunbi grumbled but chose to keep on going to a place that Ryujin requested her to meet. On the other side, Yerin felt so bitter that Eunbi left even though she was the one who asked her to do so. After fifteen minutes, she decided to leave the place and went to the place where Mathieu picked her up.
"Enjoyed your dinner?"
"The foie gras is pretty good." Yerin replied.
"You're going back to hotel, or—"
"Mathieu." Yerin stared at the man. "Do you know something about Ryujin?"
"Not really. But I thought they were dating back then." He said. "But they didn't."
"Do you know where Eunbi's going to meet Ryujin?"
"Yes. She told me."
Yerin felt like she started to lose her mind. She knew, she should have not even tried to think about it, but she did.
"Can you take me there?"
"Huh? Why?"
"Eunbi just told me to join them." She lied. "I told her I was so tired and wanted to go back to hotel, but then I changed my mind."
"Okay. Buckle up!"
"Thanks for coming here." Ryujin smiled at her warmly. She was so happy to be able to see Eunbi once again, without somebody else around. She actually thought that Eunbi would just refuse it right away, but the fact that she came made her feel terribly happy. I thought you'd come with Yerin."
"I think she's going back to hotel. She must be so tired after strolling around the city to find Yuju. Her girlfriend." Eunbi sipped her coffee. "Thank you for visiting me, Ryujin-ah. I see we both moved on from that day. Thank you for not getting mad again with me."
Ryujin smiled bitterly. Moving on from you, Eunbi? That was funny how we both know it's not true.
"Don't you think I deserve an explanation?"
Eunbi sighed so deeply. She just couldn't run away again from this one. Sooner or later, she had to face this. She looked at her intensely. She had been a coward after Dahyun
