Jungwoo and Doyoung sat in front of the CEO’s desk in the most extravagant office in the building. Their boss is currently briefing them of how he plans to introduce his son to the board of directors. They are both listening attentively and jotting down notes here and there when a knock caught their attention and their boss permitted the person to come in.

“Sir, the receptionist wanted to tell you that your son just arrived and is on his way here now.” The man uttered a ‘thank you’ and turned his face to his two assistants that are now both standing up.

He approached Jungwoo and rested his hand on the boy’s shoulder.

“I’m really grateful that you’ve accepted my offer. I hope that you two will get along and my son would be able to learn a lot from you.”

“I won’t fail you sir.”

“I doubt you would.”

A knock once again alerted all three of them and a towering figure now stand before them. Jungwoo stiffened and felt like a nail hammered down to where he is.

He felt sick

His heart has never beaten this fast even when he was pressured to meet deadlines and finish rushed projects. He can’t be mistaken about this person. This person that he knew too well to completely forget. He tried hard but every detail of his face is embedded in his memory. His slightly disheveled brown hair that compliments his pretty face. Even just by looking at it he could remember the nostalgic smell of the boy’s shampoo he once went out one morning to get it for him. His defined brows that he likes to wiggle whenever he would make fun of him before. His eyes that used to look at him with unspoken love and affection. His nose that used to touch his for no reason. His lips that he likes to kiss when words can’t amount to what he feels. Every single thing about this person remained in his heart. His traitor heart

“Gentlemen, let me formally introduce you to my son” The man went near his son, facing his two secretaries. ”This is Doyoung, you’ve seen him before when you went here,” he pointed to the black haired uptight man. “And this, this is Jungwoo. He’ll be the one assisting you from now on. He’s your secretary and mentor at the same time.” He pointed to the brown haired boy that’s still frozen in his place. “Doyoung and Jungwoo, this is my son, Lucas”

Lucas opened his eyes this morning expecting nothing from the day ahead of him. The elevator he entered went up before he knew how things would go down for him. His nervous, slow-paced walking towards his father’s office was later followed by the rapid beating of his heart. He wasn’t sure why it was beating that crazy. Is it out of excitement upon seeing the person he secretly yearned for all this time or is it out of fear of facing the undeniable pain of reality that he had lost the greatest thing he ever had?

He doesn’t remember how he got in his office with Jungwoo sitting in the couch across him. It’s a relief that he’s settled and is now sitting instead of standing up and relying on his legs that would’ve gave up anytime.

It’s scary how things are looking exactly like before but feels totally different. It’s reminding Lucas the awful truth that things just aren’t the same anymore. Even though the way the other boy sits is still as how he remembers it, his legs stuck together neatly like they’re one piece and his back is straightened like it’s a crime to slouch even just a little.
