Chapter 4

A Mate's Struggle

After a week Hoseok left with Hyunjin and Jisung, promising to be back within a couple weeks. They had to loop around the country and get the rest of their vampires before coming back.

Kisu was down at the park with Youngjae and Jooheon just wanting a day to themselves. It had been Kisu's idea and Youngjae jumped at the occasion with Jooehon agreeing to go after learning that it'd be just the three of them.

"It's been a while since it's been the three of us," said Youngjae as they sat on a blanket. "Yeah," said Kisu as he looked up at the sky. "What's the occasion anyway?" Asked Jooheon. "I just wanted to be away from the house for the day," Kisu said, shrugging. "With no one to bother us hopefully," he added. "Hopefully," said Youngjae as he looked up at the sky.

"Cory's been wanting to come back," said Kisu as he looked over at Youngjae. "That's good I guess," said Youngjae. "If Jimin would let him leave for a few days," Kisu said, sighing. "Why won't Jimin let him leave?" Asked Jooheon. "I don't know," said Kisu. "I don't know if I want to know the answer to that question either," he said.

"He has no family left," he said. "He spent the last couple years looking for them, and he finally found them through Moonbin, who seems to always be the bearer of bad news because he found their obituaries," he said. "He's the last in his family, all he wants to do is come say goodbye," he said. Jooheon's expression darkened. "That's just messed up," he said. "I know," said Kisu.

"Not even Kihyun trying to convince him worked?" Asked Youngjae. "Apparently not," said Kisu. "Cory couldn't even go when we decided to move back here," he said. "Couldn't Changkhyun or Jungkook do anything?" Asked Youngjae. "Jimin threatened to reject him as his mate," Kisu said, deadpanning. "Okay, stupidest idea ever," said Youngjae.

"He hasn't found his other mate yet," said Jooheon. "I don't think he'll go insane but," he said, shrugging. "He might," said Kisu. "Because this happened with Jeonguk and it didn't really go away until Changsun showed up," he said.

"Why are we out here discussing this?" Asked Youngjae. "Because I need your help with getting Cory over here," said Kisu. "Jimin's not going to listen to reason but we'll get Cory over here after Jeongin's graduation," he said. "Fine with us," said Jooheon. "We'll do something to help," he said. Youngjae nodded in agreement. "He needs to see his parents," he said.

"When's Jeongin's graduation?" He asked. "Next year," said Kisu. "I think," he said. "We'll make it," said Youngjae. "We need to," said Kisu. "I want to help Cory," he said. "We all do," said Youngjae. "But no one would understand what he is going through, losing contact with family for many years until you finally find their obituaries," he said. "And on top of that he has a mate who absolutely refuses to let him see his family for closure," he said.

They heard footsteps as Jinhong walked over. "I know you guys wanted to be alone today but Jeonguk and Changsun were sent to Seoul to check on Vernon and Seungkwan at Joshua's request," he said. Kisu nodded, quickly translating. "Ah, okay," said Youngjae. "They should be back in a week at the most," said Kisu.

"So what were you guys talking about?" Asked Jinhong. "Ah, Cory," said Kisu. "Jimin won't let him come home to see his parents," he said. "Well that's stupid," said Jinhong. "He needs closure, he's probably in a lot of grief right now about this," he said. "He is," said Kisu. "He just wants to see his parents," he said. "Get some closure," he said.

"What's this conversation your having?" Asked Jooheon. "I basically caught him up on what's been happening with Cory," said Kisu. "Ah," said Youngjae. "Either I learn English or they work on their Korean," Jinhong grumbled halfheartedly. Kisu chuckled some. "What's so funny?" Asked Youngjae. "Just Jinhong grumbling about not understanding our conversations," Kisu said, laughing a bit. "Now he knows how we feel," Jooheon said, grinning as he chuckled.

They spent the rest of the afternoon at the park, just enjoying the day. "Do we not have a car?" Asked Kisu as they started walking back. "No," said Jinhong. Kisu sighed. "Leave it to them to take the only other car," he said.

"What's wrong?" Asked Youngjae. "We're without a car, again," Kisu said in English. "Again?" Asked Jooheon. "I guess it's alright but it looks like we're eating pizza for the next week or so," he said. "Nah, the street market's not far from the house," said Kisu. "We'll have ramen or something," he said.

"Actually," said Jinhong. "I think we have enough food to last us the week," he said. "How'd you know we were talking about food?" Asked Kisu. "I heard the words ramen and pizza," Jinhong said with a chuckle. "Wasn't hard to put two and two together," he said. "Well, you're starting to pick up on our conversations now," Kisu said with a chuckle. "The same can't be said for these two apparently," Jinhong said, biting back a smile.

"Whatever you two are talking about it better not involve us," said Youngjae. "It sort of did," Kisu said, laughing some. "Jinhong was teasing you about not being able to pick up on my conversations with him when he picked up on ours right away," he said. Jooheon sighed. "For the record, I knew a little bit of what you were saying," he said. "Just not enough to put in your own input," said Kisu. "Exactly," said Jooheon.

They reached the pack house and Kisu went to check his phone for any new messages from Cory. Jinhong went to see who was making dinner tonight and he yelled in what little English he knew for Youngjae to come make dinner. Kisu immediately went to tell Youngjae that it was his turn to make dinner before going to take a quick shower. He got done in time to eat dinner and watch a Kdrama with Jinhong, Youngjae and Jooheon.

"What's this one called?" Asked Youngjae. "It's Okay, That's Love," said Kisu. "That's the English title anyway," he said. "I think it'd be directly translated to English," Jinhong mumbled as he shrugged. "I guess so," Kisu said, shrugging. "What'd he say?" Asked Youngjae. "Jinhong said that it's a direct translation," said Kisu. "Mm," said Jooheon.

"What the hell was that ending?" Asked Jooheon when the show ended. "I certainly wasn't expecting it," said Kisu. "Weirdest ending ever," said Jinhong. "Well, at least it was a happy ending," said Youngjae. "Yeah," said Jooheon.

"You gonna be okay by yourself tonight Jinhong?" Kisu asked Jinhong as they got ready for bed. "Yeah," said Jinhong. "I'll just come knocking if I can't sleep alone tonight," he said. Kisu nodded. "It'll be hard with both of them gone but hey, they'll be back in a week," he said. Jinhong nodded and headed into his room.

Kisu went into his room where Youngjae and Jooheon were already in bed, Youngjae not yet asleep. "Waiting on me?" He asked. "Mm," said Youngjae. Kisu went to lay down, bringing Youngjae to his chest. "What's wrong?" He asked. "Just worried for Cory that's all," mumbled Youngjae. "We'll get him home," said Kisu. "We'll get help if we need it but we'll get him home," he said.

Jinhong came into their room in the middle of the night with a pillow and blanket, waking Kisu. Kisu sighed and got up without disturbing Youngjae and went to pull out the extra mattress from under the bed and let Jinhong set himself up before crawling into bed and falling asleep again.
