Chapter 16

A Mate's Struggle

A day before Jeongin's graduation brought bad news. Jimin was coming home. Everyone swore to get Cory home, so they proceeded as normal. Kisu stayed out the entire time, planning with Cory and spending time with Youngjae and Jooheon. It wasn't that Jisung didn't want to spend time with the others, it was quite the opposite. Chan had told him to let Kisu spend some time with everyone, and he could be there for graduation to which Jisung obliged.

"Just one more day of exams," said Jeongin as he sat at the kitchen table eating breakfast. "You'll make it," said Kisu as he had joined him with a cup of coffee. "Just try your best," he said as he drank some coffee. "Why'd you get up this early anyway?" Asked Jeongin. "Couldn't sleep with someone's snoring the entire night," said Kisu. "I do not snore," said Jisung. Kisu snickered before drinking some more coffee. Jeongin went to grab his bag and Kisu went to see him go before taking a morning walk out to the lake, enjoying the silence of the early morning.

"Sometimes I wonder what you keep from me," Jisung said suddenly as Kisu climbed up onto the rock overlooking the lake and sat down. Kisu shrugged. "You see everything already, just from going into random buildings," he said. "I haven't wandered far in fear of getting lost," said Jisung as he flopped down on the couch, sighing. Kisu chuckled some before leaning back on his hands as he looked up at the sky.

"Remind me to clean up this place, and maybe get an old mattress," said Jisung. "Sure," said Kisu. "I thought you liked the couch," he said. "Doesn't help that I keep falling off it every time I close my eyes," whined Jisung. Kisu chuckled some before getting up and hopping down, going to pick some flowers before paying his respects.

Kisu was just placing flowers down in front of each grave stone when he he heard foot steps. "Ah, this is where you went," came Youngjae's voice. "Hey Youngjae," said Kisu. "I guess you got breakfast made for Jeongin," said Youngjae. "Yeah," said Kisu as he stepped away, turning to Youngjae. "I woke when he did so," he said, shrugging. "Something wrong?" He asked. "No," said Youngjae as he went to put his own flowers down.

"It's just been a while since we've had time to just us," he said. Kisu hummed in response. "It has, but hopefully by the time this is over it'll be just the three, well four, of us again," he said. "Mm," said Youngjae. "I want to take some time away from South Korea for a bit, maybe go back to France for a couple weeks," he said. "I'd be up for that," said Kisu. "We need to get passed this bull crap with Jimin first," he said. "Of course," said Youngjae. They were soon joined by Jooheon who came over with his own flowers. After a few minutes they went to stand by the water, just enjoying the silence of the calm morning.

"Sure, miss breakfast why don't you," said Cory as he walked over. "Sorry," said Kisu as he scratched the back of his head. "I made breakfast and ate with Jeongin before he headed off to school," he said. "No worries," said Cory as he went to pay his respects before joining them by the water.

"It's the calm before the storm it seems," said Youngjae as he sighed. "I heard from Hoseok that iKon is hunting one particular werewolf," said Jooheon. "It might be Jimin but we're not entirely sure," he said.

"Where has Doyoung been anyway?" Asked Kisu. "He's been out with Taeyong, something about Taeyong taking another rookie team under his wing," said Youngjae. "They'll be back after Jeongin's graduation," he said. "Taeyong took on a rookie team?" Asked Kisu. "Yeah," said Jooheon. "Apparently other wolf packs are following Leeteuk's lead to get their packs made," he said. "Hoseok would've went but he had no reason to," he said. "Hm," said Cory as he picked up a rock and skipped it across the water.

"Did you really feel the need to spend the entire day out here?" Came Chan's voice as he walked over with Felix and Woojin. "Hey Chan, Felix, Woojin," said Kisu as Jisung said hello. "Hey Kisu, Jisung," said Chan. Woojin and Felix waved. "Are we needed back at the house?" Asked Youngjae. "No, Changkhyun knew where you were but Jeongin's home," said Chan. "Tomorrow's his graduation and he asked for Jisung to be there," he said. Kisu nodded. "Don't worry," he said.

They headed back to the house, with Cory asking Kisu to go grocery shopping with him. "We're getting some last minute things," Cory had explained before dragging Kisu out to Jin's truck.

"I know there's another reason for you dragging me out to the grocery store, what is it this time?" Kisu asked in Korean as Cory drove to the grocery store. "Not fair, I can't understand you," Jisung said, sighing as he went to clean up the building a bit. Kisu chuckled some but shook his head when Cory gave him a questioning look.

"Well," Cory said in Korean after pulling onto the main road that would lead them into town. "iKon has made their appearance," he said. "And they're here for Jimin," he said. Kisu blinked. "What for?" He asked. "Apparently his parents are looking for him so they asked iKon to get him home," said Cory. "Hm, this is interesting news," said Kisu. "Also this might be your chance," he said. "It might," said Cory. "We just need to take things as it goes it seems," he said.

They reached the grocery store and Cory got what they needed for the party tomorrow. "We need a lot of burgers, a few cases of soda, hamburger buns, cheese," grumbled Cory as he went to get what he needed with Kisu following behind him with the cart.

"Are we feeding an army here? Jeez," said Jisung. "No," Kisu said with a chuckle. "But it's better to have more than to have less," he said. "Talking to yourself again?" Cory asked, chuckling as he turned to Kisu. Kisu chuckled and went with Cory to the checkout line.
