Ch.15
Where the Lonely Ones RoamEach day, Heechul had come up with a new way to torture him.
He’d been taken to the hair salon, forced to get his hair cut and styled even though he’d argued that he liked it long. It was still long, but it didn’t look quite so messy anymore. Then Heechul had dragged him back to the mall for more clothes, insisting that he go to school with an array of outfits and accessories. There were good, old-fashioned pay-offs thrown in just to appease him. He’d received new bedding set; a dark grey and red plaid set that suited him nicely. A HD TV showed up in his room one day, complete with cable and a DVD player. When he came home last night to find the new Nintendo Switch, he knew that something bad was coming, something that he wouldn’t like at all.
The prediction had been correct because when he woke up that morning, Heechul had rushed him through breakfast and told him to hurry and get dressed. Just to spite him, Kibum took his grand old time putting his clothes on, and walked back down the stairs extra slowly.
“Where are we going now?” Kibum asked in a bored voice.
Heechul smiled sympathetically as he looked for the car keys. “I’m taking you to the doctor for a physical and to receive the required vaccinations for school.”
Kibum glared at him, deciding that he very much indeed deserved that Nintendo Switch because Heechul knew that he detested going to the doctor more than anything, and getting stabbed with a needle always put him in a terrible, awful bad mood. He sat on the bottom step, waiting patiently while Heechul searched for the key’s, which would take awhile since he had hidden them last night just in case Heechul had planned something major for today, which he had.
He casually inspected his nails, looking away innocently as Heechul walked past him up the stairs. Once Heechul was gone, Kibum stood up and went into the kitchen, rooting around the cabinets until he found a box of honey buns. He picked one out and opened it, biting into absentmindedly as he returned to the foyer, just as Donghae walked into the living room, sending him a nasty smirk. Seconds later he received yet another message from his brother, but he didn’t have time to read it because Heechul had found the keys and it was time to go.
He followed Heechul to the car, finishing the honey bun and buckling his seatbelt. He tuned out whatever Heechul was saying to him; it was probably more convincing about how fun and exciting school was going to be. Instead he pulled out his phone to see what his stupid brother had to say this time.

“Hyung?” Kibum asked, twiddling his fingers together.
“Yes, Kibum?” Heechul replied, pulling into the doctor’s office.
“Do you think my is big?” Kibum demanded, waiting until the car was parked before unbuckling. Heechul looked at him skeptically, chuckling at the completely random questions.
“It’s just like Soleil Esperanza said: you have a very nice ,” He said with an amused grin, shaking his head. He placed his hand on Kibum’s back as they headed inside together, signing into the patient log book before sitting down to wait.
Kibum sat impatiently, squirming around incessantly. He tapped his fingers against the arm rest, unsure what he was more nervous about: the vaccinations or stepping on the scale. He knew that he’d gained weight, but he didn’t want Heechul to see the number on the scale. Just as he was about to ask if he could go back alone, the nurse called his name and Heechul ushered him into the hallway. He kept his eyes glued to the floor as he followed them into a room where the nurse informed them that the doctor would be in momentarily.
These rooms always made him uncomfortable and antsy, so he refused to get on the table and sit, instead leaning against the wall glowering at the ground. He crossed his arms over his chest, his heart racing nervously, and when the doctor knocked on the door, he jumped slightly, startled by the sound.
“Well, it’s been awhile since I’ve last seen you! How have you been, Kibum?” Dr. Song greeted, closing the door behind him as he set a folder down on the counter.
“Fine,” Kibum answered quietly, refusing to look him in the eye.
“I hear that you’re going back to school. Are you excited?” Dr. Song asked, but Heechul quickly shook his head no, wordlessly telling him to avoid the subject. “Ah, well, why don’t we begin the exam? Have a seat on the table.”
Kibum did as he was told, not bothering to put up a struggle as he normally did. He just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible so he sat still as the doctor checked his blood pressure and took his temperature.
“Alright, please take your shirt off so I can check your heart and lungs,” Dr. Song instructed, but Kibum sho
