세븐틴: Sleeping Beauty

 

          It’s been a long day, everyone was tired, and everybody deserved a good rest. They lay their bodies on the floor, couch, or anywhere comfortable while waiting for their food and their turn to take a shower. On the other hand, Seventeen’s angel quickly fell asleep as soon as he relaxed his body on the couch. He’s been like that for quite a while, sleeping like a princess pricked by a cursed needle installed in an old spinning wheel. Every day, it became harder and harder to wake him up, especially when his body was really exhausted. Good thing that he’s still okay.

 

Seungcheol was staring at him the whole time. Finally, he decided to carry him to his bed. He stood up and walked towards him, while Joshua intentionally marched faster than their leader as if there’s a race to compete.

 

          The gentleman was the one who reached Jeonghan first. He caressed sleeping beauty’s face and him softly to wake him up. It took quite a while before he opened his eyes.

 

Joshua:

(Gently whispered)

Hannie-yah, it’s time to eat.

 

Jeonghan:

Please let me sleep, Shua.

(Pleaded Joshua with a sleepy voice.)

 

Joshua:

You cannot skip your meal and medicine, especially now that you’re exhausted.

 

          Jeonghan’s expression became sad because he has a very strict doctor beside him. He couldn’t even give him a short time allowance to have more sleep. Indeed, the king’s words are absolute! He reached his hands to the slender man beside him and asked Joshua to pull him up.

 

Jeonghan:

Drag me. I cannot move my body. I’m so tired.

(Asked Joshua without opening his eyes.)

 

Joshua:

Alright.

 

          Joshua lifted Jeonghan’s body gently by pulling his arms to help him stand. Then, he put his arms around Jeonghan’s waist to assist him walk.

 

Joshua:

Jeonghan-ah, at least open your eyes.

 

Jeonghan:

I’m reaaaaaaaaally sleepy, Shua.

 

Joshua:

C’mon! Just a few minutes.

 

Jeonghan:

I’m lazy.

(Hopeless.)

 

          Joshua sighed as they passed by Seungcheol. The gentleman grinned at Coups as if he already won. Cheol was a little annoyed because Joshua was taking advantage of everything.

 

Jeonghan accidentally dropped the phone, and Shua let Cheol get that thing because he couldn’t bend forward since he was carrying a lazy angel.

 

Joshua:

Cheol, let’s eat. Our order already arrived.

(Smirked at him)

 

Seungcheol:

Tsk! You devil!

Need help?

(Offered his strength to carry Jeonghan.)

You seemed weak.

(Smirked as he fired back at him, witnessing his unstable stance, carrying Jeonghan.)

 

Joshua:

I’m fine.

It’s better to see you tormented because you’re not allowed to touch him. Besides, he’s getting lighter. I can manage.

(He smirked at Cheol but he also displayed a worried face because he was concerned about Jeonghan’s health.)

 

          Once again, all gathered in their meeting place, which is the dining room, eating so fast like there’s no tomorrow. Seungcheol, as a leader, checked and observed every member and realized that they really looked exhausted. All had gotten thinner. After eating their late dinner, the other members continued waiting for their turn to take a bath. Jeonghan became alive again and decided to wait for his turn to shower. He was in their living room, watching a movie with the other members to kill time.

 

          One quiet moment, while Seungcheol was alone in their bedroom, a sound surprised him. He realized that Jeonghan’s phone was still with him, and he forgot to give it to him after eating. He took the phone and looked upon the screen, curious of who texted Jeonghan in the middle of the night. He found out that Minhyuk was the one who messaged him. Out of jealousy, he read his message; even though, he knew that it was wrong.

 

-Text Message-

 

Minhyuk:

Good evening, Angel! It’s been a long time.

(With smiley emoticon after the message.)

 

          Coups became curious on how they text each other. He decided to read their previous conversations as he scrolled the screen up. As a result, he became extremely annoyed when he read their text messages.

 

Minhyuk:

“hi! Good morning! Did you have a good sleep?”

“did you eat already? I’m still hungry.” (Smiley emoticon.)

“I’m missing you. I hope we see each other soon.”

“Do you miss me?” (Smiley with a wink.)

“Let’s have our time together when you’re not busy.”

“Saranghae~” (With a kiss emoticon.)

 

          His boiling blood came rushing through his veins upon reading all of their conversations, especially when he read Jeonghan’s reply to it.

 

Jeonghan:

“Good morning, Minhyukie! Yes, I have a good sleep. How about you?”

“Don’t make yourself hungry. I’m waiting for the others to go home. I don’t want to eat alone. You wanna go here?” (With grinning emoticon.)

“I miss you too.” (With a heart and smiley emoticon.)

“I hope we can go near the seaside again.”

“Saranghae~ Take care always.” (With a heart emoticon.)

 

-End of reading the text message.-

 

Seungcheol:

Jeonghan, really!

Is he trying to flirt with this man?

(His patience was tested.)

 

          He was typing “Let’s not text each other again.” When Joshua came in, who stealthy walked behind Coups and whispered to his ears mischievously.

 

Joshua:

Coups-yah, that’s not yours.

 

Seungcheol:

Omo!

Yah!

(He shouted with his eyes wide open.)

You startled me!

 

Joshua:

(He knew that it was Jeonghan’s phone Coups was holding because it was covered by a cute casing given by Minhyuk. He became curious and snatched it from Cheol’s hand.)

May I see?

 

Seungcheol:

(Tried to snatch Jeonghan’s phone back.)

Give me that!

 

          Cheol tried to steal the phone from Joshua forcibly. They even stumbled on the floor; as a result, Joshua fell on the ground while Coups was over him. Jeonghan, on the other hand, was looking for his phone and entered their room without knocking. He was surprised upon seeing them in that position.

 

Jeonghan:

(Stayed cool and wore a straight face because finding his phone was more important at the moment.)

What are you doing?

(Fixed his eyes on the weird activity of his friends.)

 

Joshua:

He-

(Started to tease Cheol.)

He said he missed me.

(He grinned as he didn’t care what Jeonghan may think of them after.)

 

Jeonghan:

Okay?

(Giggled after finding them super weird.)

New way of showing your love, I see.

(Teased them while looking around to search for his phone.)

Hey, did you see my hand phone?

 

          Joshua and Seungcheol were embarrassed of their position so they composed themselves first before answering his question. Cheol hid it on the other side so Jeonghan could not see it immediately. They both planned to answer “no” without even talking about it. Unfortunately, the phone rang loudly, playing MonstaX song, which was an indication that Minhyuk was the one who’s calling.  

 

Jeonghan:

Oh, there!

(He came rushing to answer the call.)

 

          He got the phone, but unluckily, the message Coups typed was sent to Minhyuk saying “Let’s not text each other agikdjfslj ofpa.” (Effect of their stealing.)

 

Jeonghan:

(Answered the phone.)

Hello, my cute monster!

(Giggled)

Why’d you call?

 

Minhyuk:

You texted me not to text you anymore. Are you angry at me?

(His voice was shaking because he thought, he did something wrong.)

 

Jeonghan:

Why would I?

 

The confused blonde angel turned his speaker on and checked his messages. He got pissed when he read what they sent him and gave them an annoyed look. The two boys gulped out of anxiety and avoided Jeonghan’s fiery eyes.

 

Jeonghan:

Oh! I think some naughty kids played prank on you. Sorry, I left my phone in the bedroom.

 

Minhyuk:

Oh, that’s a relief.

They’re over protective on you, aren’t they?

 

Jeonghan:

(Laughed.)

Because they love me.

 

Minhyuk:

Okay. I understand.

I miss you.

 

Jeonghan:

I miss you too. I’ll call you back because I have to take a shower now.

 

Minhyuk:

It’s okay. Rest well. I’ll call you tomorrow.

 

Jeonghan:

Okay. Good night. Sweet dreams!

 

          Joshua and Cheol displayed an annoyed face upon hearing those sweet words of Jeonghan to Minhyuk. While, the angry angel looked back at the suspects after hanging up the phone. Joshua automatically pointed at Cheol, indication that Coups was the real culprit.

 

Joshua:

I told him to give it back to you, but he won’t listen.

(Acted innocently like a child to annoy Cheol.)

I saw him typing something when I realized it’s not his phone.

 

Seungcheol:

Yah!

You betrayer!

(Troubled on how to make up with Jeonghan; even though, they were not still talking after their comeback stage.)

 

Jeonghan:

Yah! Who told you to scan my phone?

What if Minhyuk misunderstood everything?

 

Seungcheol:

(Caught in action.)

Did I send the message?

 

Jeonghan:

Yes, leader-nim!

(He walked away with a pissed expression.)

         

          When the angry beautiful being came out of the room, Joshua and Cheol faced each other and felt that it became their disadvantage.

 

Seungcheol:

What’s with his (Jeonghan) expression? As if I ruined something. Tsk!

 

Joshua:

Yah! Why did you send it?

 

Seungcheol:

I wasn’t supposed to, but you came stealing that phone from me! I was about to delete it.

 

Joshua:

Yah, it’s your fault in the first place. Who told you to read other’s messages and reply to it? Tsk! You must be crazy.

 

Seungcheol:

(Getting annoyed by his not very loyal friend.)

I can’t help it. I got mad.

 

Joshua:

(Positioned his body to seat properly and asked Cheol of what he read.)

Hey, what did you read?

 

Seungcheol:

(Really pissed.)

Yah, after what you did to me? Why should I tell you?

 

Joshua:

I want to know.

(He stayed firm.)

 

Seungcheol:

What if I don’t wa-

 

Joshua:

(Halted Coups’ sentence.)

Let’s get rid of those outsiders first.

(Displayed a serious yet naughty smile.)

 

Seungcheol:

(Quite agreed to Joshua’s idea.)

Ye-yeah, I agree.

 

Joshua:

We are too many.    

 

          After a short fight, they became united once again with one goal. Take the other men down first! That was their mission.

 

 

The8:

(Heard the last annoyed sentence of his angel from the outside.)

Hyung, what happened?

 

Jeonghan:

Those two are fooling around.

(He smiled gently at his Minghao.)

I think, they lose it already. They’re getting crazy.

(Winked at him.)

So, don’t listen to them anymore. Just listen to me.

(Started brainwashing the innocent Minghao.)

 

The8:

I see.

(Cutely nodded.)

Hyung, you forgot your medicine.

(Gave Jeonghan a glass of water and his medicine.)

 

Jeonghan:

Oh! Okay. Thank you.

(Touched The8’s cute face.)

 

 

          After Jeonghan finished taking his shower, he saw Dino on a corner who was unexpectedly quiet ever since they came home. He approached him and asked him what was wrong.

 

Jeonghan:

Dino-yah, what’s wrong?

 

          Dino’s seemed not in a good condition because he was frowning; moreover, he did not answer back. Mommy Jeonghan became worried at his baby. He put his hands on Dino’s forehead to see if he has a fever.

 

Jeonghan:

Oh my, you have fever!

(He exclaimed.)

 

Dino:

You should rest now, hyung. I already ate the medicine Joshua-hyung gave me. I’ll just stay here because I don’t want the other members to get sick too.

 

Jeonghan:

Aigoo, Dino yah, you should go to your bed. You’ll be uncomfortable here.

 

Dino:

(Couldn’t help but to follow his mommy’s advice.)

Alright then.

…but don’t worry about me, hyung. I’m big now. I can handle myself.

 

Jeonghan:

Then, go to your bed and rest.

 

Dino:

Okay.

 

          Jeonghan assisted him going to their room and let him sleep first before getting into his bed. That evening was so quiet because they were all sound asleep except for Joshua and Seungcheol who couldn’t sleep because Jeonghan got mad at them.

 

          The next morning, Dino became okay but Jeonghan, won’t open his eyes. He was under a spell again, a spell where nobody was capable of undoing it, not even a prince or a knight in shining armour. It became a normal thing for them now. It’s just that, that day, they needed to carry him to their van because they had a schedule that morning.

 

Joshua:

(He instructed them one by one.)

Jun-ah! Get a wet towel.

The8, get his clothes.

Mingyu, Dino, prepare his food that he could eat later.

Seungkwan, the medicine.

 

Woozi:

What are you planning to do?

(Observing from a far.)

He’s not waking up again?

 

Joshua:

We need to bring him with us. He’ll wake up soon.

Soonest, I hope.

 

Wonwoo:

Are you sure, he’s okay?

 

Joshua:

Yes. I checked his breathing. He’s just tired.

 

Jun:

So…

How can he prepare?

 

Joshua:

Hand me the towel.

(Jun gave him a wet towel and wiped the sleeping prince.)

We will be the one who’ll dress him.

 

DK:

We should bring extra clothes then?

 

Joshua:

Yeah. I forgot to tell you. Please.

Thanks.

 

Hoshi:

This is kinda weird, though.

(Giggled.)

We suddenly have a doll in our dorm.

 

Seungcheol:

(He just finished taking his shower.)

He’s not yet awake?

 

Vernon:

Not yet, hyung.

(With a blank daze.)

 

Seungcheol:

Is he okay?

 

Seungkwan:

Yes. Shua- hyung checked on him already.

 

Seungcheol:

Good.

If he cannot wake up before the show, let’s leave him in our waiting room.

 

Hoshi:

Wicked ideas you got there, hyungdeul.

(Laughed.)

 

Joshua:

No choice.

(Sighed.)

 

Mingyu:

He’ll be upset if we leave him here.

 

          Everyone agreed as they were busy changing his clothes and preparing the other things they needed to bring. The situation left them without any other choice but to carry Jeonghan to their van because no one was available to look after him if they would leave him alone in their house.

 

-Inside the Salon-

 

          The sleeping beauty wasn’t opening his eyes yet. The stylists were surprised upon seeing Jeonghan being carried by Mingyu that time. The tall man made Jeonghan sit on the chair like a doll.

 

Stylist:

What are you doing?

(Confused of what was happening.)

 

Mingyu:

Noona, I’m so sorry. I’ll assist you. He’s not awake yet.

(Exposed his charming smile.)

 

Stylist:

Is he sick again?

 

Mingyu:

He’s just sleeping.

 

Stylist:

O-okay?

 

          Nevertheless, she started doing his hair and make-up.

 

Stylist:

It’s amusing that he stays asleep even if I’m doing his hair and make-up.

 

Mingyu:

Is it easier?

 

Stylist:

Yeah, I guess. He’s not doing unnecessary movements.

He’s like a doll.

(While painting his lips with a pink tint lipstick.)

 

Mingyu:

Yeah. I agree.

(Holding the angel’s face, steadily.)

A pretty doll.

(Talked at the back of his mind as he stared at his hyung.)

 

          The Seventeen members started working so hard after they get themselves ready because they had to help the stylist to put on Jeonghan’s clothes.

 

-Inside the van.-

 

          After their effort putting Jeonghan inside the van again, the sleeping beauty finally opened his eyes. He thought that he was dreaming because he found himself sitting in the van with the other members.

 

Jeonghan:

Am I dreaming?

 

Mingyu:

Oh, hyung, you’re awake now?

 

Jeonghan:

Why are we on the van?

 

Hoshi:

We dragged you while you were asleep.

 

Jeonghan:

What? Wait! Why?

 

Joshua:

We can’t wake you up, sleepy head. We’ll be late if we waited for you to wake up.

 

Jeonghan:

My goodness! I’m sorry.

(He was really surprised)

You should have splashed water on my face.

 

Joshua:

You want to get killed?

(With a sarcastic voice.)

 

Jeonghan:

(Realized that he did not take a bath.)

Yah! I haven’t taken a shower yet!

(He was furious.)

 

Jun:

We took care of that, Hyung. Shua-hyung wiped you with a clean wet towel.

 

DK:

We also put your lotion and other skin care. No need to worry.

(Winked at Jeonghan.)

 

Jeonghan:

How about my underwear?

 

Joshua:

Oh, that? You’re supposed to do that.

(Smirked, teasing him.)

 

Jeonghan:

(Relieved)

Oh-okay. That’s good. Did you bring extra clothes?

Are we going to the salon now?

 

Mingyu:

Hyung, you have your make up and clothes on. We’re already near the studio.

 

Jeonghan:

What?! Really?

(Dumbfounded.)

 

Jun:

(Smiled, finding Jeonghan cute.)

Good morning, angel.

(.)

 

Jeonghan:

This is crazy!

 

DK:

Just smile, they won’t find out that you did not take a bath.

(Laughed.)

 

Jeonghan:

Good thing I decided to take a shower before I slept.

(Recalled everything)

I’m getting crazy.

 

          Everyone laughed. On the other hand, Coups with the others on a separate van, was busy texting someone. Same goes for Joshua.

 

-Joshua and S.Coups conversation through text message.-

 

S.Coups:

Is he okay?

 

Joshua:

He woke up already.

 

S.Coups:

Good! I bet he’s panicking.

 

Joshua:

He’s cute.

(Making Coups jealous.)

 

S.Coups:

Yeah, right!

(Smiled right after he sent the message because he could imagine how his beloved angel would react.)

 

          The two rivals remained best of friends taking good care of their one and only angel. After they texted each other, He asked Seungkwan and Hoshi to lower down their voices because he’d call someone important.
