There was always a park that she had to pass through whenever she was making her way home from work. It was usually nice and quiet there. A couple of families with their children running around as well as a couple of couples lingering around, hand in hand as they laughed at whatever stories they shared between themselves.

He was also there. A man of short stature but quite a buff body, as far as she could see through his light get-ups. He was always there, sitting on the swings and staring off into the sunset until she came into his vies. Whenever his honey brown eyes would land on her, his melancholic complexion would disappear and in its stead, there would appear a smile that split his chubby cheeks.

His smile was truly breath taking. It was not that long into the past when she found herself thinking of wanting the man to direct that smile towards her alone.

She was too shy to start any possible conversations with the man, and thought it to be too awkward to send a smile back, though she’d always stop by the creaking gates just to cast one final look at the man’s back before leaving the calming area of small vegetation.

His back felt lonely.

As day after day went by, she started noticing the small details about the man.
