All I want for Christmas

Once Upon A Story

A/N: In this story I imagined Sehun to speak with a lisp but I didn't want to confuse anyone with replacing every word containing "s" with "th" so just use your imagination while reading >.< This also mentions mpreg for anyone that needs a warning.

Shushu refers to uncle, baba is dad and gege is brother (but in this context is used as a greeting)

Featuring: BaekHan, Sehun, Tao, Kai

The phone placed on the bedside table chimed and shortly after began playing heavy metal music.

Startled as a result of the abruptness of the noise, Luhan's eyes immediately burst open.

He blinked multiple times to get rid of the drowsy feeling. Groaning, he very unwillingly sat up in bed and searched through his phone. Five unread text messages, 10 voice messages and 17 missed calls.

Before he could even attend to any of the messages, he received an incoming call from his co-worker.

"Hey Kai." He answered groggily.

"Hyung! You finally picked up the phone!" He practically yelled just to be heard. Luhan reflexively pulled the device away from his ear and opted to continue their conversation over speakerphone.

"What's going on Kai? Why is it so loud on your end?"

"I'm at the venue for Kim Joonmyeon's wedding party. It's a big mess over here and we have a crisis! We're short staff members 'cause Kyungsoo hyung called in sick last minute. We need you here as soon as possible." He sounded stressed and panicked.

Luhan gnawed on his lower lip. He was supposed to have the day off as a result of volunteering to work overtime last night. And he had been looking forward to spending some quality time with his three year old son. He released a long exasperated sigh. But on the other hand, today's event was important and had to be perfect. So by the looks of the situation, it seemed as though he wasn't given a choice.

"Luhan hyung, are you still there? The event is officially starting in an hour and we still haven't gotten everything set up yet."

"Don't worry Kai. Give me 20 minutes, I'll be there." He reassured the younger male before hanging up on his end.

He quickly got himself dressed and freshened up. He stopped in his son's room. A small smile lit up his face seeing his angel still soundly asleep. He carefully brushed the bangs out of the way of the boy's eyes before placing a gentle kiss on his son's forehead.

"Morning ge." His cousin Tao greeted him as he rushed his way into the kitchen. "Didn't expect to see you up this early."

Luhan grumbled in displeasure about being reminded. But instead of replying, he went straight to the point. "Tao, I'm going to need you to look after Sehunnie today. I've been called to work. Tell him I'm sorry and that I'll take him to the aquarium another day."

"But ge..."

His doe eyes widened in apprehension as he checked his watch. He was aware Tao had been talking to him but everything fell on deaf ears. He had to leave now or else he'd be late. Luhan grabbed the half eaten pizza pop off the plate and stuffed it into his mouth.

"Hey that's my breakfast!" Tao whined in protest.

"Bye!" Came Luhan's muffled reply as he took his backpack and car keys before stumbling out the door.

-------

Tao sighed for the umpteenth time in the last couple minutes. Sehun had been awake, excited about being able to spend time with his beloved baba; but that crescent eye smile of his turned to that of a frown once Tao delivered the news to him. Thus Tao was currently being given the silent treatment and an adorable pout; both these features indicating that Sehun was not impressed.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang and Tao could not be more grateful for the silence was slowly starting to make him go insane.

The toddler happily ran  his way to the door as he awaited Tao to open it. He was under the impression that Luhan had come back early, but his expression reflected fear once he found out it wasn't his baba but a complete stranger. He quickly took cover behind his uncle's right leg.

"Awe, isn't he just adorable!" The man cooed.

Tao just chuckled at both their reactions. "Thanks for coming over Baek."

The said male just waved his hand at his friend dismissively, smile unfaltering towards the frightened child.

Tao brought the little boy forward before both he and Baekhyun knelt down to match Sehun's height so they were all seeing eye to eye.

"Hunnie, this is my friend, Baek gege. Do you want to say hi?" Tao spoke softly to him.

Sehun vigorously shook his head no before turning around and burying his face in the crook of Tao's neck.

Tao looked at his friend apologetically.

"It's alright, he's just a little shy. Has Sehun had lunch yet?"

"No, not yet."

"Great, I'm going to use the kitchen." Tao hadn't a clue what Baekhyun was planning but he let the latter be.

And much to Tao's relief, Sehun seemed to open up to Baekhyun almost immediately when he saw the Christmas shaped finger sandwiches made especially for him. The toddler enjoyed playing with the different shapes before finally giving in to the hunger, claiming that he's never had tastier peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. After they'd had lunch, Sehun spoke to Baekhyun as if they'd been long time buddies. Tao was overjoyed because he now had to dash off to work.

-------

Later that night, Luhan stifled a yawn as he walked in through the front door. "Hunnie, I'm home." He hollered as he took off his shoes and entered the living room. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion once he found the area vacant. "Hunnie? Tao?" He continued calling out as he searched the kitchen but to no avail. Where could they be?

"Ducky ducky ducky. Heheh." Luhan chuckled to himself once he heard Sehun gleefully shrieking from upstairs.

Once he made it inside the master bedroom his eyes focused on the man bending over the bathtub playing with his son. He was adamant that the person wasn't his cousin. So many questions were floating through his mind. Who was this man? Where is Tao? And why does Hunnie seem so comfortable around the stranger?

"Baba!" The enthusiasm of Sehun's voice interrupted his thoughts, as he was now the focus of attention.

Nonetheless, Luhan gave the toddler a warm smile. "Hey there Hunnie."

The stranger stood up from his crouching position and dried his hands on his jeans. "You must be Luhan, Tao's cousin." He looked up and was instantly mesmerized. The male in front of him had a tall but thin frame. Luhan's jet black hair complimented his pale and flawless complexion; his delicate feminine features were absolutely stunning. He'd dare to say he has never seen a man with so much beauty, enough to rival that of a woman's. His doe eyes and baby face gave him a cute outlook. Needless to deny, Baekhyun was most certainly infatuated.

"Yeah, I am. Sorry, but um...who are you?" Luhan asked, trying not to come off as rude. But the shorter male just kept staring at him with a smile plastered to his face.

"Baba, that's Baek gege." The lisp had been prominent as Sehun answered on behalf of the love struck Baekhyun.

Hearing this had Baekhyun stirring out of his daze and introducing himself. "I'm Byun Baekhyun, a friend of Tao's. Oh and Hunnie accidentally spilled juice over his clothes so I thought I'd help bathe him." He felt the need to explain himself.

"Right, thanks. Uh, speaking of Tao, where is he?"

Just before Baekhyun had the chance to speak, the said devil sauntered into the room, his attention focused on his phone. "Hey Baek, thanks for taking care of Hunnie. You should probably go before Luhan gets back though."

Luhan raised an eyebrow upon hearing that statement. He cleared his throat and had his arms crossed over his chest, not the least bit amused.

Tao lifted his head, eyes widening in horror. "Lu ge." He offered an awkward but sheepish smile.

Sensing the buildup of tension within the room, Baekhyun took Hunnie out of the tub and wrapped him snug in a dry towel. "Let's go and get you into your jammies."

Luhan eyed Baekhyun warily but was thankful the latter knew that this conversation may end up being inappropriate for Hunnie. He closed the door behind them before facing Tao.

"Huang Zi Tao. You better tell me what's going on." His demanding tone caused the younger to flinch.

Tao defended that it technically wasn't his fault. He tried explaining to Luhan in the morning that today was his first day starting a new job so he wouldn't be able to take care of Sehun. But Luhan obviously didn't bother listening to that part. So he ended up calling Baekhyun, a kindergarten teacher who is a good friend of his to babysit in his absence. Tao thought he would be able to make it back in time before Luhan got home so he could avoid the latter's lectures; but of course that didn't work out in his favor.

"You know how much I dislike strangers around Hunnie, much less in my house." Luhan's facial expression softened a bit but his tone was dripping with venom.

Tao couldn't help but roll his eyes. "He's technically not a stranger. And Hunnie is fine, in fact he seems to really like Baekhyun."

As Luhan was about to retort, a knock on the door prevented him from doing so.

The door opened to reveal Baekhyun. "Hey uh, Hunnie's dressed and already brushed his teeth. He's in bed waiting for his bedtime story."

"Thanks." Luhan replied in a grateful but not so friendly tone.

"Let's go Baek, I'll see you out." Tao sensed how uncomfortable Baekhyun must be feeling under Luhan's scrutinizing gaze and decided to put him out of his misery.

The rest of the conversation was discontinued as Luhan made his way over to Sehun's room. But tonight instead of listening to Luhan tell him a story, Sehun told his own about the events of his day. He became all excited when he talked about his Baek gege. He told his baba about the Christmas shaped sandwiches, the drawings and the songs they sang together. And how they watched cartoons and played with his bath toys.

An exhausted smile graced Luhan's lips as he tucked in the sleeping baby, placing a kiss on the crown of his head before turning off the lights.

After hearing how fondly Sehun spoke of Baekhyun, his impression of the latter improved slightly.

--------

Luhan had been tired of the constant ramblings Sehun went on about how much he missed Baekhyun and that he wanted to play with the latter again; Tao liked to call it jealousy, which Luhan was quick to deny.

God did not answer to his prayers when he took Sehun to the aquarium a week ago. Because of all days he could've chosen to go, it had to coincidentally be the same day Baekhyun brought his kindergarten class on a field trip. Sehun had whined that he wanted to follow as Baekhyun guided his students and their parents around. Luhan tried persuading the toddler that Baekhyun was working so it wouldn't be appropriate. But the teacher relished the idea so Luhan didn't have any excuses not to comply.

He had once again been ignored when in the heap of all chaos tried to take Hunnie to see Santa Claus at the mall. The last meeting they held  resulted in Luhan leaving late from work and inconveniently lined up in traffic due to rush hour. So By the time they arrived at the mall, Santa Claus had retired for the day.

Sehun had been upset, even dissolving into tears as he had been looking forward to making his wish. However, he seemed to lighten up at the sight of his favorite Baek gege, who just so happened to be in the mall shopping for Christmas goodies to give his students.

If Luhan hadn't known any better, he would've thought Baekhyun looked more like the father than he did. That unwanted bubbling of annoyance was back as an angry pout made its way to his face.

--------

It wasn't until the next night when the younger had shown up at his door dressed in a Santa jumpsuit, a white wig, a faux beard and a stuffed belly that Luhan's malicious thoughts for Baekhyun made a 360 degree turn.

Luhan stifled a laugh as he let Baekhyun through the door. The younger male looked ridiculous, but he appreciated all the effort that was being put in for the sake of his son. "Hunnie, look who came to visit."

Sehun rotated his head from the cartoon he was watching on the flat screen TV. His eyes sparkled a mixture of shock and delight as he slid off the leather couch, scrambling over to wrap his tiny arms around their visitor's legs. "Santa Claus! Baba, it's Santa Claus!" He looked up to give Luhan a toothy grin.

His heart swelled with bliss seeing how ecstatic the toddler had become. Luhan momentarily locked gazes with Baekhyun and cracked a genuine smile in the other's direction. "Thank you." He mouthed.

Baekhyun's heart began palpitating against his ribcage, his cheeks flushed from underneath the beard. After enduring nearly a month of Luhan's unwelcoming behavior, he'd finally witnessed the elder smiling at him. But it had definitely been worth the wait. The way his doe eyes mirrored innocence as his lips curved upwards was such a ravishing sight. The feelings he harboured plunging deeper with every passing day.

"Santa, Hunnie wanna make a wish!" Baekhyun was taken out of his trance when he felt his jacket being tugged at.

"Of course little one." He replied in a cheery voice that was several octaves lower than his original. Lifting Sehun off his feet, he made himself comfortable on the couch before settling the child onto his lap.

Baekhyun glanced at the boy expectantly, but all he did was stare back and forth between Santa and his father.

"Baba cannot listen."

Both adults chortled at Sehun's response. "Alright Hunnie, baba will leave you alone with Santa."

After they made sure Luhan had gone back into the kitchen to resume his dinner plans, Baekhyun proceeded with his purpose of masking his identity.

"Hunnie has been a very good boy this year. So what would you like Santa to get you for Christmas?"

Sehun stood up on the man's lap so he could whisper in Santa's ear. "Hunnie want Baek gege to be another baba."

Baekhyun's eyes widened comically as he resisted the urge to break out in a coughing fit from almost choking on air. Yes, he liked Luhan and a feeling of giddiness overtook him to hear Sehun indirectly say that he wanted the two together; but that was easier said than done. He was just beginning to come to friendly terms with Luhan so he was reluctant to say or do anything that would mess up the relationship they now had between them.

But a surge of determination coursed through his body with just one look into Sehun's hopeful, almost pleading eyes. Though he couldn't promise anything, he knew he had to at least give it a try; or rather, give himself a chance.

The older male approached them announcing that dinner was ready and Santa had to make his way back to the North Pole. Baekhyun placed Sehun back on his feet before standing up, trying his best not to express how dejected he felt hearing those words.

"No baba, Hunnie want Santa to stay for dinner." Sehun protested, showing off his best puppy pout.

Luhan knelt down to level with Sehun's height. "Santa needs to go back home now baby. But how about we call Baek gege and invite him over for dinner?"

Sehun perked up at the suggestion, this also surprised Baekhyun. The little boy excitedly bid Santa goodbye, practically pushing him out the door. And just as he anticipated, Baekhyun entered their house moments later.

When Tao had come home from his shift, he thought he'd been hallucinating when he saw Baekhyun coloring with Sehun at the dining table.

They greeted each other before Tao stepped into the kitchen where Luhan had been washing dishes.

"Hey, I saved you a plate. It's in the oven."

Tao nibbled at his lasagna, all the while his line of sight never left his cousin. "I must be missing something here."

Luhan knew what it was Tao had been referring to. He then began explaining everything that had happened in his absence. "So don't get the wrong idea, I let him stay for dinner as thanks for making Sehunnie happy."

A smug smile appeared on Tao's lips. "What is this wrong idea that you speak of ge? Perhaps the one thinking too much is you."

"Wha-?" Luhan spluttered dumbfounded. His face was gradually growing pink. "D-don't give me that look Huang Zi Tao." He warned as he avoided eye contact.

Tao just rolled his eyes in response. "Come on ge, it's literally been three years. Have you seriously not thought about considering Baek?"

"You asked me the same question about Xiumin two years ago. And look where that ended up." He scoffed in return.

"Okay, so I may have been wrong about him, but Baek can't be compared to that jerk face! Besides, aren't you the least bit touched by what he did for Hunnie tonight? And they both get along so well, that's got to count for something."

Luhan replied with a sigh. "I don't know Tao."

The younger cousin huffed out in defeat, deciding it was useless trying to persuade him. "Alright, well I'm just putting the idea out there. I just think you deserve to give yourself another chance at love."

The perplexed male was left alone to his own thoughts, contemplating their conversation. He'd be lying to himself if he said he wasn't affected in any way by what Baekhyun did. And as a result of that, his impression of the latter undoubtedly became better. But that didn't automatically infer he felt any affection towards the younger male, right?

---------

"Yay, Tao shushu!" Sehun cheered as he grabbed hold of the Rilakkuma dressed as Santa that was handed to him.

Said male's face contorted at how he was addressed. "Hunnie, can't you call me gege instead?"

Sehun simply shook his head. "Baba says that you are Hunnie's uncle."

"But if Baek gets to be called gege I should too, I am younger than him after all." He complained to Luhan.

Luhan just rolled his eyes while Baekhyun's snickering could be heard from behind. "We've already been through this Tao. And if I recall correctly, you're the one who taught Hunnie to call him gege."

Tao gaped at the comeback, mentally slapping his own idiocy. He wanted to retort, but that had been hard to do when faced with the facts.

"Baek gege, Hunnie wanna go on big wheel." Sehun tugged on Baekhyun's hand that he had been holding on to.

Today was Christmas Eve and Sehun had been looking forward to being able to go to the amusement park with Baekhyun. Much to Tao's surprise, Luhan actually agreed to the idea.

There'd been a thin layer of snow on the ground and the weather was certainly chilly but thankfully there hadn't been any wind chill or else it would be cooler. And since there weren't that many people in the area it was quite empty. But they liked the fact that there was no crowd.

They all looked in the direction that Sehun had been pointing to and realized he'd been referring to the Ferris wheel.

"Hunnie wanna sit with shushu." He took Baekhyun by surprise at the sudden disentanglement of their hands.

Sehun excitedly pulled Tao along but stopped in his tracks when he didn't hear any footsteps following along. He whipped his head back to see his baba rooted to his previous spot. "Baba hurry up!"

Luhan timidly made his way over to the others. "Hunnie, if you go on with shushu then baba doesn't need to ride." He tried reasoning with the toddler.

"But Baek gege won't have anyone to ride with." Came Sehun's innocent reply.

"He's right, only two riders per carriage."

Luhan glared at Tao. The younger obviously wasn't making the situation any better.

"If baba don't go, Baek gege will be lonely." Hunnie jutted his lip out displaying an expression of sadness.

Luhan dared one glance in his son's direction and immediately regretted doing so. He was extremely against going on the ride but Sehun's irresistibly adorable face made it hard to reject. Thus he let out an exasperated sigh and hesitantly agreed.

Shortly after he and Baekhyun had been secured in, the wheel started revolving. A blank look of fear reflected off Luhan's pupils as he scrunched himself up in the corner of his seat. His complexion paled as his chest heaved up and down with difficulty. The handle bar on the side was gripped so tightly that his knuckles were beginning to whiten.

Baekhyun had been observing Luhan carefully ever since they'd lined up for the ride. A look of worry was evidently etched on his face as he cautiously wobbled his way over to Luhan's side. Except he stumbled forward knocking himself into the anxious male when they came to an abrupt stop. The whole carriage swung to and fro violently causing Baekhyun to slide to the other side of the seat, Luhan colliding into him.

"AH, w-what's happening?" Luhan cried out in panic.

Baekhyun instinctively wrapped his arms around Luhan, bringing the trembling male closer to him. "It's okay, it's probably just broken. Everything is going to be alright." He whispered soothingly into Luhan's ear.

"No, we can't be stuck here! Hunnie must be so scared!" His outburst caused the continuation of the carriage to rock back and forth.

Baekhyun rubbed his hand in an up and down motion along the elder's spine in an attempt to console the latter. "Hunnie has Tao. They're going to be just fine."

After a while of silence, Luhan seemed to have calmed down a bit.  Baekhyun debated whether or not to loosen his grasp on Luhan. But thought otherwise as he feared the slightest movement would cause another commotion from the other.

"I'm sorry." Luhan muttered softly into the younger male's chest.

"Don't worry about it, everybody has something they can't help but be afraid of. And you just happen to be acrophobic."

Luhan shook his head. "That's not what I was referring to." When Baekhyun didn't respond, he took that as a sign to elaborate. "I'm apologizing for how terribly I've been treating you this past month."

"Well, I'm sure you must've had your reasons for acting that way." Baekhyun offered, hoping to ease the guilt that seemed to be spreading across in the latter's tone.

"Even so that shouldn't have been an excuse. Especially since you were only being nice to Hunnie and I."

"Luhan, you don't have to feel inclined to explain yourself to me."

But said male just disregarded that statement. "Hunnie's father was never serious about our relationship. He pushed me around like a puppet and I was so smitten at the time that I didn't even care as long as we were together. And when I'd told him I was pregnant, I thought that would change him, but of course I couldn't have been more wrong." He scoffed at his stupidity, tears fogging up his vision as he reminisced his painful past.

"I'm sorry to hear that." Baekhyun whispered remorsefully as he leaned his head on the top of Luhan's, caressing the back of the latter's hand.

Luhan just simply held the other's hand and gave it a squeeze indicating he was alright. "Two years ago I finally thought I'd found someone who  loved me as much as I loved him. But perhaps I use that term too loosely, because as soon as he found out about Hunnie he made up all these excuses that we shouldn't keep seeing each other." He adjusted his position, finding comfort in the crook of Baekhyun's neck. "So after that I labelled all guys jerks. I built a protective wall around myself, this way no one would be able to hurt me and definitely not Sehun. But you've proved to me that you're different."

A unique rectangular shaped smile stretched across Baekhyun's lips. "Have you ever considered that maybe all those failed relationships happened for a reason? Because they weren't meant to be your happily ever after?"

Luhan contemplated the true meaning behind Baekhyun's words. He sat himself up just enough to find their faces were only a couple centimeters apart. They briefly shared eye contact before Baekhyun titled his head to the side, gradually lowering it. Luhan closed his eyes and soon felt their lips softly pressed together in a gentle kiss.

Baekhyun slowly but unwillingly pulled away, resting his forehead against the other's, he murmured. "I'm sorry it took so long for me to find you. But please believe me when I say that I really love you and Hunnie. And maybe this is the chance that we've both been waiting for? So I promise, no more heartbreak from now on."

He vowed that he wouldn't trust in love ever again, but this time, it seemed all logic had been pushed aside; as his heart and even his mind urged him to believe in the truth that Baekhyun held in his words.

A single tear dribbled down Luhan's cheek. Baekhyun reached forward to kiss away the tear before latching his lips onto Luhan's again. The latter was quick to respond, and to Baekhyun, that had been a more than satisfying answer.

The dark blue sky was splashed with rosy reds, grassy greens, ocean blues and blinding whites; the fireworks illuminating the sky meant that it was officially Christmas Day. However, they'd been too immersed in the magical moment that they failed to notice the beauty of their surroundings as the wheel began descending.

"Shushu was right, baba and Baek gege kissed!" Hunnie gasped as soon as the carriage had arrived safely to ground level. Tao sent a knowing smile, wiggling his eyebrows at the couple.

The blood rushed to their faces, flushing beet red at being caught in the act.

"Hunnie's wish came true!" His eyes then widened in realization as he looked up at his parents expectantly. "So Hunnie have younger sibling now? Because both baba kissed? Tao shushu says so."

Luhan choked on air while Baekhyun sent Tao a death glare, who was now laughing maniacally. They would have a lot of explaining to do, but in the end everyone was happy. Baekhyun and Luhan found love in each other, making Sehun's wish to 'Santa Claus' come true. And Tao received his sweet revenge for having been called uncle.

All's well that ends well.
