ATO Eight
Across the Ocean
It was approaching late afternoon by the time Tiffany made her way to the hospital. She decided on last night's jeans, a comfortable loose fitting white T-shirt and a huge warm jacket. After her lectures for the day she stopped by J's favourite food joint on campus and got his usual; pizza and spicy chicken.
After entering through the automatic glass doors and being hit with a blast of warm airconditioning Tiffany immediately smelt the hospital, sterile and stale. The alcohol in the air pinched the insides of her nose and every few meters she could see hand sanitisers lining the white and beige walls. It was after all a hospital, being clean and sanitary was a high priority. Tiffany began to look for J's room, there were odd numbers to her left so the room should be on her right. She had texted him that morning asking for the details of his recovery but J only responded with his room number.
As Tiffany was approaching what she identified as J's room a patient was wheeled out and down the corridor in the same direction she was heading in. Tiffany politely nodded and smiled to the blond who was similiar in height wheeling a patient some distance in fornt of her. This girl looked oddly familiar but she didn't think much of it.
J is all that she is concerned about at the moment, upon entering the room Tiffany noticed there were two beds, one empty presuming the patient who was just wheeled out was J's roommate. Inside, the room smelt less sterile and more sweet, homey, like custard? There were four chairs in the room and all four of them were crammed around the other bed which made Tiffany feel even more guitly. J looked tired with dark circles around his eyes, one eye in particular was still black it must have been the one Park punched.
"Well look who decided to show up"
Tiffany hurried over to the man sitting up in bed with one arm in a cast and gave him a careful long apologetic hug.
"I'm sorry"
"Enough of that give me the food"
Tiffany laughed and emptied her backpack's contents onto the hospital table which was conveintently on wheels. The pizza looked a bit dejected, being sat verticlly in her backpack was not prime positioning but nonetheless J did not complain. Tiffany arranged herself a chair so she could sit next to the bed and J could easily eat with his good hand.
"I could smell it as soon as you came in"
"Do you forgive me?"
"Ask me again when I'm done"
With a mouthful of food J held up his hand, Tiffany noticed how his arm was swollen and his muscles looked depleted. She had never seen him so wornout before, J was a fit man and full of energy. It was why he is the only male employee working on the floor. Miran could not refuse to hire him, he had a pretty face and the build of an athlete. Miran was confident he would bring in more ladies and true to her word he did. J was known as the Pretty Beast Boy at The Establishment dark and handsome not quite a tough name but it stuck. Miran often said they were the perfect couple at work, J would attack and Tiffany would soon follow leaving the patrons wounded from their good looks with a table full of drinks and a fat bill.
