I just moved from my tiny apartment to a big one. I might have three roomates but the place is huge and we each have our bedrooms. I love this place. Also, since I feel bad for not updating in weeks and one of my friend had a bad day so, to celebrate, here's a double update. You let me know what you think of it ;)

Dongwoo spent the following week mostly sleeping with brief awaking moments. Sunggyu visited him every day in the fifteen minutes he was given, and during those times they never spoke of anything deep. Once Dongwoo dared to ask him what he was going to do toward his family, how they took the fact that he came to see him every day, but Sunggyu told him to focus on his recovery first and foremost and not worry about anything. Dongwoo had his own issues anyway so he gladly left Sunggyu think of everything else, particularly the Kims. He had been through enough hardships dealing with them anyway. Once, Sunggyu bought his noona with him, an elegant lady with a loveliness that made her approachable, and she had been so nice and friendly that Dongwoo was glad he got to meet her. After a week, the chief of medicine in charge of Dongwoo came to explain to him the medical protocol put in place so he could recover. Dongwoo felt his mom squeezing his hand as the doctor talked and his producer nodding stiffly at each point, assuring Dongwoo he’ll make sure he’ll get the best treatment.

“The next two to three weeks mostly consist of keeping a close eye on your brain trauma recovery. We’ll monitor your brain activity every day and make regular IRM to make sure you won’t develop any lesion. This time is also important to allow your bones fractures to heal. We’ll do a scanner of your body after the second week to see if it’s developing well. On the third to fourth week, depending on how your body healed, we’ll start kinesiotherapy to keep your muscles from ankylosing. After a month, the best would be to start an aquatic reeducation therapy first. The patients starting aquatic reeducation are showing better results in terms of development then the ones starting with reeducation. After the aquatic therapy, the next step would be reeducation.”

“How long would it take, for him to get back to normal ?” the sajanim asked, always straight to the point.

“It depends, every case is unique and we can’t say for sure how long.” The doctor started but caught the steel look of the man. “But seeing how Dongwoo-shi improves day by day, the fact that he doesn’t suffer troubles to speak or amnesia that would indicate a brain lesion, I’m pretty confident to see him on his feet in the next three to four months.” he said enthusiastically.

“Three to four months ?” Dongwoo repeated, as if the sky fell over his head. “You’re telling me I won’t be able to dance for at least three to four months ?”

His mother squeezed his hand to comfort him but Dongwoo was too upset to feel the motherly reassurance. The doctor looked at him with a contrite smile.

“I said nothing about dancing Dongwoo-shi.” He said kindly but firmly. “I said you’d probably be able to walk and regain your motor skills in six months, but I can’t assure you you’d be able to dance.”

After the sky falling, Dongwoo felt hell opening its gates, swallowing his dreams.

“Would I… would I ever be able to dance again ?” he asked in a small voice, like a child asking if Santa really existed.

“I can’t say for sure. It’s very rare for someone who undergone an accident like yours to get back 100% of their motor capacities. To dance like you did before the accident, keeping strenuous hours of hard practice that came with being an idol… I don’t know if your body would be able to keep it up. I’m sorry.”

Dongwoo nodded slowly before his head fell. He tried very hard to not cry in front of them.

“But it’s possible right ?” the sajanim asked. “If he rests longer, if he takes his time, do things at his own rhythm… There is a possibility that he could dance again right ?”

“We doctors do all we medically could, but there are out of our reach that we can’t predict nor control. There is a chance, yes. Slim, but existent.” The doctor said.

“Then he’ll dance again.” The producer stated loudly, to reassure himself and Dongwoo as well. “You will.” He said, looking at his artist in the eye.

“Let’s hope you do.” Dongwoo’s mom said, looking at him fondly.

“Last thing, I want to tell you that you were extremely lucky Dongwoo-shi.” The doctor said, in lecture mode. “Many wouldn’t have survived an accident like this. Many wouldn’t have made it through the surgery. Many would’ve developed brain lesions or stay in a comatose state for the rest of their life. You are lucky to be alive, dancing or not.”

“Thank you doctor.” his mother snapped at the doctor. “I’m sure he’s aware of that.”

Dongwoo was aware he was lucky, sure. But if he had to live a life without dancing… Will he live at all ?
