[NO ONE P.O.V]

The time was passing and the mood was getting more romantic. While some couples were hugging while swaying at the smooth love ballad; Tiffany was trying hard to hold herself to not stare the couple a few meters of her. In the dance floor, Jesse was dancing slowly with the princess. Of course, they were a pair after all, it was what she thought… but then, why does her heart insist to feel heavy and sorrowful… If only she could the one, but she couldn't, between them there was a huge barrier that they never can break through. She wasn’t even paying attention on Siwon’s words and she couldn’t understand this… wasn’t this what she wanted all this time? Have Siwon so close… then why this feeling of incomplete consumes her heart. Seeing Jesse with another girl certainly hurts her deeply, but she was frustrated… what's wrong with her? Why can't she stop thinking of him? However, the most rational thing to do was ignore this feeling, even when her heart… secretly cried…

In other hand, Jesse also couldn’t take his eyes from a pair a few meters of him. Inside of his heart, he was screaming coz he wanted to toss Siwon away so he could a chance to talk with Tiffany. He only asked for a chance, but he could only watch her longingly with a tug in his heart. He wanted to say so many things, but the most important one; he needed to tell her how sorry and regretful he is. And… to tell her how much he loves her; that’s it, he was getting lost in his own train of thoughts when he snapped back to reality as he noted a strong gaze on him. He quickly looked down and smiled weakly when he realized that he still was dancing with the princess. The latter remained quiet, and took a deep breath as she spoke softly with a smile:

“I am going to take a rest and drink something, all right?”

Being a gentleman, Jesse quickly bowed as he hurriedly asked in concern:

“Wait, if the princess wants, I can go with y—“

“There is no need, Jesse. I – I think I will be all right, I believe you have to solve some unsettled business, am I right?”

“But, princess-“ “Shhh…Don’t worry, I will be fine… just go.”

Princess Nana spoke softly while she stared Jesse’s focus. He dropped his head in embarrassment since he was caught staring at Tiffany again. Yet, the Nana quickly urged him to meet Tiffany since out of sudden; Siwon withdrew from their dance and walked to the buffet, leaving a lonely Tiffany hanging between the crowds. Before Jesse could rush to her, he rapidly turned around, bowed as he reached the princess’s hand and kissed gently: “Thank you, Princess.” The latter smiled in defeat and shook her head whispering:

“That’s fine… fight for who you love”

That moment, he doubled the size of his eyes since the smart Princess was already understand his situation. Then, slowly a grateful smile crept in his lips as he nodded again and finally left her to search for Tiffany. He didn’t even know that the Princess was staring at him with a sad smile in her face as she uttered faintly: “I can’t win when it comes love… Jesse, don’t give up.” After spoken those bitter words, Nana turned around slowly to leave the dance floor, feeling her heart lighter…

[TIFFANY P.O.V]

Unbelievable, there was me in my small dilemma. A few seconds ago, Siwon oppa told me that he wanted to drink something, he even asked me to accompany him, but I wasn’t feeling in mood to go. Honestly, I don’t know if I was feeling relieved or concerned with his absence since now… I was all alone at the ballroom’s center with passionate couples dancing romantically around me… Great… I remarked ironically as now I couldn’t even leave in this crowd since I was surrounded… Oh God… why didn't I go to the buffet with him? How this can get worse? I am all by myself while my pair is in somewhere in this room… while the only thing I can think of… is what Jesse is doing now… I am really an idiot…

“Excuse me…but…c-can I have this dance?”

My eyes widened instantaneously when I heard the smooth and familiar voice. Am I imagining things? However, I could tell that I was not when I felt a gentle grip on my left making me turn around slowly. Once I turned around entirely, my jaw merely dropped when I saw Jesse so up close. His eyes… his hazel eyes were so different now… it didn’t hold a cold aura; it was the same warm stare when the first day I talked to him. How could I not remember? And his tone was so soft that I barely recognized at first. Then, I was stunned… he looked so mature and his features were so sharp… I would be lying if I told you that he didn’t look handsome… and really attractive. But wait a minute, you are mad at him, remember, Tiffany?! He was the one who said all those hurtful things to you!

Our eyes locked and I could see that he was pleading with his eyes. Although my heart doubled the pace with his deep stare… stupid heart, I recomposed my composure when I tried to look cold which I knew I was failing. Since he was hesitant, I tried to look cold as I spoke emotionlessly:

“So… what do you want from me?”

Once again, he opened his mouth many times to speak, but he couldn’t do so. I wanted to hear his words, but why was it so hard for him to be honest with me once? Seconds passed and I sighed deeply, getting ready to leave:

“Listen, Jesse… if you can’t speak, I – I will…”

“No… wait, please.” Finally his voice looked more secure as he adjusted himself and looked at me again deeply. I gulped due to his piercing stare, yet my cheeks were getting warm when I noted that he didn’t let go of my hand. Then, after awhile he finally spoke without breaking our stare:

“Tiffany… I know I did things that I truly regret. But if now, you give me this chance even when I don’t deserve it, I promise that I will tell you everything you want to know.”

I was confused with his words and even when I was still hurt with him. Something inside of me pushed me forward and accepted his warm hand, and I did it. I nodded slowly as our stare didn’t break. Then, getting my allowance, he guided me to the crowd’s center as he stood before me. My breathing hitched when he gingerly grabbed my hand and placed on his shoulder while he gently placed his other hand on my waist.

Honestly, at that moment I let the song move me as I stared deeply the glow of his eyes, I felt attracted. We just swayed to our sides delicately at the song’s rhythm; this is some kind of dream, it must be. I can't believe that he is finally here in front of me when he could be with the princess now… is this really happening? And now that he is in front of me, I couldn’t say a word, just enjoy his presence as if I blinked for a second, he could disappear from my sight. I suddenly felt warm when I realized that the gap between us was so small, but I was feeling inexplicable comfortable and… pleasant. Yet, my heart pounded heavily when I heard his soft tone again:

“Tiffany… I – I am really sorry… I shouldn’t have done that… and all those things I said… it wasn’t the truth.”

He was finally opening himself and I remembered my sister’s words, I knew I should let him talk and that was what I will do. I could sense that he was really nervous, but unconsciously, my hands automatically landed on his chin to make his look up as I pressed on, anxious for his answer:

“W-what truth, Jesse? 

He hesitated and became silent again, but I couldn’t help, I really wanted to hear what he had to say. Out of sudden, he surprised me when he removed his hands from my waist and cupped my neck as he stared at me tenderly… Oh my God… his touch, why am I feeling so warm? I kept staring at him eagerly as he nibbled his lips hesitantly, speaking very softly:

“That I – I am… I am in---“

“And let’s give a round of applause for our musicians!”

He was interrupted when the regent and the entire crowd clapped their hands. I knew he lost his concentration, and when I thought he would leave me hanging there with my thoughts again, he surprised me as he held my both hands tenderly and spoke while staring at me warmly:

“I – I guess I will talk to you later… meet me at the Castle’s bridge in one hour okay?”

“But, Jesse—“I quickly held his hands since I didn’t want him disappear from me again. However, he smiled at me so fondly that I felt a sudden heat spread in my face as some butterflies fluttered inside my stomach. Slowly, he leaned in and I could feel his warm breath on my lips, I swear that I felt my heart ready to jump out of my chest… but it was… amazing:

“Don’t worry, I promise that I tell you everything… Stephanie.”

What? He still remembers? He only called me like this when he had something really delicate to tell me. I felt my eyes b in tears when I heard him calling me like he used to do when we were kids. It was so wonderful to have this caring side of him again… I can't explain, but the way he spoke to me… made me feel so touched… and… important for him… However, he surprised me for the millionth time at the night as I felt something slight wet and warm on my right cheek. My jaw dropped as my eyes were widened at him as my heart accelerated the pace again when I saw a coy smirk in his lips. I was too stunned to say something; I could only stare at him as he thumbed my hand fondly and whispered softly:

“See you later. Thanks for the dance… I really appreciated it.”

Nonetheless, he bowed at me gently and slowly, let go of my hand making me miss his warm instantaneously. I was left behind completely dumbfounded, but when I was back to reality, I placed my hand on my face, feeling the spot where he kissed… the kiss still lingered on my burning skin. Then, unable to control my confusing happiness, a coy smile finally crept in my lips while I watched him disappear between the crowd:

“Jessie…”

[NO ONE P.O.V]

Meanwhile a few moments ago…

When Siwon was having his drink, he almost chocked with the liquid as he saw the scene before him. Just a few meters of him, there was Jesse holding Tiffany while they were dancing really close. The scene angering him completely, but he knew he couldn't pick a fight with the gunner for two reasons, one because he would lose a teeth and two, because he shouldn’t make a scene in front everyone. Yet, while seeing the couple’s proximity, he was really afraid of something practically inevitable.

But then, when he looked to his side, he felt furious when he saw the princess staring at the same couple with a bitter smile in her lips. Unable to hold himself, he marched to her and spoke seriously, trying to not look harsh since he was talking with a princess:

“I thought that you were interested in him… and now you give him into a silver tray for Tiffany?! Don’t you know that this can jeopardize my plans?”

The princess merely chuckled, finally looking at him as she shook her head, explaining:

“In first place, he never was mine… and secondly, just look at them…” Listening to her, Siwon eyed at the loving couple and clenched his teeth in rage as Nana continued:

“Only looking at them… you can see the glow in their eyes… even knowing them so little, I can definitely tell that they really love each other… the difference is that they don’t realize it yet. So… what is the point to fight for someone whose heart never was yours? If their love is reciprocal… they should fight for it… always. You should do the same…”

Although the princess’s words made very sense, Siwon refused to lose Tiffany for Jesse, he couldn’t accept it. Then, he shook his head, glaring at Jesse fiercely while drinking his shot in one gulp:

“Beautiful words, princess… but this doesn’t work with me. If I want her… I will have her.”

He gritted his teeth angrily as he marched to the lovingly couple, waiting for the first opportunity. Which it didn’t take too much, since he heard that they were meet each other again at the Castle’s bridge. Finally, that was the chance that he was expecting… to make Tiffany his and break Jesse’s hope at once… he smiled deviously at his own plan…

[JESSE P.O.V]

It was almost midnight and while everyone was in the ballroom; there was me with an anxious heart running to the Castle’s Bridge. I've chosen that place since I knew everyone would be in the ballroom and I would have her total attention. Still, I couldn’t help it, my stomach was fluttering and I was really nervous, I can’t believe that I will be able to tell Tiffany… tell her the whole truth… to finally confess my feelings for her. I tried to hold, but a smile would creep in my lips at each step I took to my destiny.

Oh Tiffany… you don’t have any idea how much I want to tell you everything…

I was trying my speech diligently to think in a perfect way to tell her my feelings or simply blurt everything. But this isn’t important, all that matters I will open my heart for her at least. So when I finally turned the last corridor’s corner, I could see her silhouette standing there under the moonlight, she looked stunning under the moon glow. Then, my smile widened only to see her, then, when I was about to run to her… my feet automatically stuck on the floor when I had a better view of the scene before me.

Unknowingly, my heart started to get heavy at every step I took, something was not right. When I finally had a clear view of her… my heart stopped… the smile on my lips disappeared when I saw her… I couldn’t believe… a few meters of me… there were Tiffany… and Siwon… kissing?! !!!

No, this c-cant be happening... no no no! Please, tell me that this is a joke!

But I knew… the scene before me wasn’t a nightmare, it was my reality. Once again, there was she in someone’s arms and not mines. My tremble lips quivered as I felt a piercing heartache crushing my being from inside out making completely dead and numb. For the last time, I felt my bleeding heart shatter into millions of pieces. I tried to hold, but tears of pain rolled by my cheeks as I stiffed a sob, my chest was about to explode. I – I couldn’t breathe; I couldn’t think anymore… the pain was so crushing that I barely could stay still. Okay, Siwon, you w-won… I – I give up… I give up on you… Tiffany… 

Unable to look that torture anymore, I turned around quickly and ran as fast as I could. I wanted to do anything to make that scene disappear; the pain was so crushing… I stopped on the midway feeling a piercing pain on my heart, but 1000 times worse… the tears didn’t stop, it kept falling and washing my face. I felt so lost…

“It-it hurts s-so much…”

I chocked in tears as I lowered my head putting my hands on the sides. However, even dwelling in my own suffering, an idea appeared and… I will follow… I don’t care anymore… I just want to do anything to make this pain go away. So I clumsily wiped the tears from my face and roughly loosened my collar, already removing the tie. My face darkened while I walked hastily to the Castle’s bridge to the Castle’s rampart. Tensing my jaw to prevent more tears, I roughly opened some buttons of my outfit to breathe deeply as I hastily activated my bracelet, summoning my double shotgun. I placed my weapons on my holster as I thought without turn back:

“At least, I will finish this once for all. I don’t want to stay here not even a second!”

When I was about to cross the bridge, I took a deep breath trying to stay sane. But who I was trying to fool? I was totally crushed, but it was my fault. I shouldn’t trust her in first place, even when Siwon is around… I am so stupid to believe that she would give me a chance… Making my mind, I stepped on the bridge when I heard someone running and calling me desperately:

“JESSE! JESSE!”

I recognized the wavering voice immediately, yet I didn’t turn around and I kept walking forward. Her desperate tone triggered more tears in me, but I angrily wiped it as I looked up and adjusted my guns on my holster. I didn’t want to see her face ever again, so I quicken my pace hoping that she wouldn’t reach me. How wrong was I, I could hear hurried steps as she screamed desperately again:

“JESSE! JESSE! WAIT! WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!”

“I am going to settle this once and for all…” My tone was as cold as possible, I heard her stop in her tracks, asking hesitantly:

“W-what do you mean, Jesse?” I kept walking as I answered harshly and gritting my teeth:

“Where do you think I am going?! I want to settle everything with this Zen and get out of here as soon as possible!”

Her gasp filled my ears after my answer. Although I couldn’t see her face, I was sure that she was glaring and frowning at me as out of sudden, her voice made me stop in my tracks:

“ARE YOU CRAZY?! ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL YOURSELF?! IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT, HUH?!”

A scoff escaped from my lips as I blurted into an annoyed tone:

“Like you care… Now, can you stop with your acting and leave me alone?!”

“OF COURSE I CARE! … W-what happened to you, J-Jessie? I – I don’t understand!”

How can she do this to me? She was the one who hurt me and now, my stupid heart clenched due to her trembling voice. That moment I breathed heavily and stopped in my tracks as I shook my head. I opened my eyes, and my vision was blurred due to the tears while I finally turned around to stare at her. And there was her tearing up while looking at me intently with a hurt expression. I didn’t have strength to discuss with her again, I am tired… tired of this whole suffering. I just want to end this; then, I kept my cold semblance even when my heart was crumbling down:

“Of course you don’t… now, get out of here! I have something more important to do!”
