Chanyeol and I should win an award for best awkward conversations.  When I came out to eat breakfast, I found him buttering toast whilst laughing by himself.  Then out of nowehere he asked me the most preposterous question I’d ever heard.

“What do you think of Baekhyun?” was what he asked me.

“He’s a good friend.  What is he up to?” I replied.

“He’s my partner.  You have Minseok in your ear and I have Baekhyun in mine,” Chanyeol smirked.  “Do you really not see Baekhyun as nothing more than a friend?”

I made a face.  “He’s never given me any reason to think otherwise.  I mean, before when he was my superior, I probably wouldn’t have considered it.”

“What about now?” he pressed on.

“Now we’re both technically traitors and rank doesn’t matter,” I said carefully.  “Baekhyun’s a good man.  Any girl would be lucky to be with him and I’m sure he would be one of the romantic types.  Does this have anything to do with those rumors about me and him?  Kyungsoo was always telling me that the Baekhyun was in love with me but I— “

That was when it occurred to me.  I suppose that the look on my face told Chanyeol realized that I had figured it out because he began to burst out in uncontrollable laughter.

“Baekhyun can hear everything I’m saying, can’t he?” I shrieked.

“He’s so embarrassed,” Chanyeol laughed.  “This is precious.”

I’m off to work now and hopefully by the end of the day this little incident will be forgotten.  Minseok hasn’t mentioned it once since I put my earpiece in, for which I am thankful for.

I went to work and suffered the same exact routine of having to stand outside the Commander's office and do nothing.  No one came to visit him nor did he try to leave.  Most of the time it's quiet work but if there was a threat Minseok would tell me since he's monitoring the building from whatever remote location he's at.  I suspect he's either hacked into the security cameras without being detected or the Commander has given the resistance complete access to them.

Today there was one thing that was different in my daily routine and it is the development in my relationship with Kim Jongdae.  Today we spoke to each other for the first time despite it being the third day we would be working together.  He was the one that began the conversation, startling me from my thoughts on how I was going to find the Blue Room.

"Your file says you were the best cadet in your year," he said.

The sound of his voice were like gunshots in the silence we'd established.  My heart thudded violently in my chest as I nodded in acknowledgement.

"Your Element is Frost," he commented.

"Yours is Lightning," I pointed out.  "Regardless of your ability, I'm not that easy to bring down.  Though I'm not convinced you're looking for a fight."

"I'm not," he agreed.  "Just making casual conversation here."

"Are you talking to me because you want to or because you have no choice?" I asked.  He hadn't spoken to me before and he really didn't have a reason to now unless he was either genuinely curious about me or somebody put him up to it.

"In our line of work, we make enemies.  A person like you should be familiar with that concept," he said, conversationally.  "I owe a lot of people.  Some of them are good and bad."

"Good and bad are subjective." I pointed out.

I noticed that while he spoke, he did not reveal much but it was just enough for me to put the pieces together.  Someone had manipulated him into talking to me and if that was true he was likely to report back to whoever that was.  There was someone behind the scenes and they wanted to know what I knew.

He became silent after that, clearly not willing to speak anymore.  I had a feeling that this conversation wasn't over but for now it would have to do.  Words had a unseen power to keep you alive or kill you and openly speaking of such matters was likely to produce gruesome results.

I am absolutely sure that every single guard here is allied with an official on the Commander's council.  I have been going into the training room whenever I'm off duty to spar with the other agents tasked with protecting the higher ranked officials.  Being on the guard is much different from being an average foot soldier.  Most of us don't talk to each other unless we've been paired up on shifts often.  All of us have the same level of ability so I suppose it doesn't matter if we're randomly assigned our shifts but some are more compatibl

Chapter 19: This was such a nice read!! Well I did not expect the final death coming but I guess it was important to the story, it can't always end happy. But I am happy Minseok is alive though. This writing is fresh and I enjoyed reading it! <3

Chapter 19: I didn't see it coming, about the death of my bias. Well, it's interesting to read and I enjoy every part obstacle they have. It's been long since I read a story from one point of view, and you make sure to not write it out like a diary/journal. Thank you for writing this, I enjoy it from the beginning till end^^

I enjoyed how the story was told from a journal entry perspective instead of in real time. The end made me so sad with what happened to Baekhyun and Yeolli :'( but not all good stories are happy ones. But still huhuhu T.T

Chapter 8: I'm glad that Hyunae has started to change her perspective on humans.

The last paragraph of the first entry on this chapters makes me shiver. Hyunae /really/ going to do it.

I'm mostly worried about Chanyeol now, though. Won't the military suspect especially when he comes back unscathed? Also, isn't the timing a bit odd? Hyunae and the other guys disappear, and then not too long after, Chanyeol comes back. I fear that the military's trust on him has wavered and they'll hurt him.

Chapter 7: Daaaaamn I admit that I never thought of Minseok being sick >< All I've had in my mind was that he was probably just hiding and laying low. But...if Minseok was there, in the apartment, all the time, then who is keeping his tracker? Is another person with it? I was hoping for Kyungsoo to be more "important" but it's fine I guess I mean a friend is important right :') And if I'm not mistaken, it was Baekhyun who told Hyunae to keep a diary? If that's correct, I'm wondering why Hyunae still keeps writing despite Baekhyun's departure. I personally feel that it's her way of coping with her loneliness. The last member of her family has been taken away and her suspicion on her comrade just gets confirmed, so it must've hit her quite hard. She must be wanting to confide in someone.
