In multiple pictures from the fansign event, maknae and main rapper Byeol can be seen smiling and having fun. However, at some point things took a turn when she was captured with an upset expression, constantly looking down at a letter assumingly given by a fan. At one point fans believe she was even wiping away tears in between autographs. Suddenly, half-way through the event she covered her eyes and wouldn't look up even when fellow member Miyu began to shake her shoulder and tried to peak behind her hands. Abruptly, Byeol got up and walked off of the stage (This part wasn't captured on camera but told by many fan accounts of the event). The fans began to cause and ruckus and another member, Rose, apologized quickly to the fans and told the other members to continue signing while she followed her. She returned after roughly ten minutes but Byeol wasn't present for half an hour. She finally returned and continued the rest of the fansign without acting like anything had happened.
Fans are criticizing Byeol for not only storming off stage, but also the leader Nari for not following her to make sure she was alright. It was Rose who looked after her, and fans began to point out that she was originally the leader when they tried to debut in 2013 with Dream Candy. After the sudden passing of member Iseul, the group called Dream Candy promotions "a predebut activity" and didn't return until 2015 with the absence of their former maknae Cherry and new member Nari, who took over the leader position. "Aigoo, they really messed up giving that new girl foreigner the leader position." "Rose was always the leader! Nari must just be the face leader, Rose does everything behind the scenes." "what a b*tch! letting her poor maknae cry and leave the stage without hardly looking at her. die." And even "That group is not close at all. It's very clear they are just coworkers who happen to have to live together. Rose just wanted to make it look like they cared about each other, but they don't share any love [compared with other groups]."
As of now, there's no telling what exactly upset Byeol enough to make her leave the stage. We'll keep you updated. Check out the photos of the dramatic change below!
[UPDATE]
UouO Media has made an official statement regarding the incident.
"Hello, this is UouO Media responding to the events at yesterday's fansign. We wished to get the story from the members immediately after the fansign but by the time they got to the company building it was around one a.m. and they had schedules early in the morning, so we sent them to the dorm. However, this morning we spoke to the members and are very concerned with the incident.
While speaking with member Byeol she handed us the letter that had upset her, and there were very many innappropriate and violent comments towards her. Upon further discussion we have concluded that while her behavior during the fansign event was not ideal, it was an acceptable reaction and we will be reaching out to the fan who wrote the letter. We apologize greatly for the trouble and worry this has caused.
Moving onto the subject of member Nari, it was not her intention to ignore Byeol. Rose was taking a break from her line while Nari was not, so it was Rose who reached out and spoke to her instead. It had nothing to do with the leader position or a lack of positive relationship between the members. The actions were performed with the fans' happiness and convenience in mind. All who attended the fansign event excluding the writer of the letter will be given a free signed copy of the upcoming concert DVD, as well as a ticket to one of the three upcoming concert dates. Once again we apologize and hope there was little inconvience."
After the statement was released, the maknae became a center of worry, with many fans questioning her wellbeing after what was obviously an upsetting incident. Shortly after the incident, Byeol posted on her Instragram, @warden_byeol assuring fans with a selca that she was indeed alright. Glad to hear it!
" :3 I'm okay~, no worries! Please continue to support both me and WARdEN.
Sorry for causing a scene. ^^; "
