Yiyun’s POV

“Everyone, please be quiet. We have a new student coming in shortly and I want all of you guys to make them feel welcome.”

Yes Sir.”

My name is Yiyun Liu. I am a maths teacher currently in Korea but I originally come from Taiwan. I am 27 years old and currently single. I am known for my talent shown in paintings around the school. I am quite young so I get along with the students quite easily at school. My two best buds go to this school, a student in my class, Oh Jongin and Choi Siwon, a P.E teacher. Siwon and I are the same age compared to Jongin who is 18 but because I have known him for a long time, knowing the fact that he is my neighbor since we were young, we are very good friends. We are known to be the flower boys/men in the school. The other teachers are unaware about our popularity but that’s because Siwon and I care for the student’s education more than our status and Jongin just does a good job keeping it hidden.

“Mr Liu, this is the new student.” I bow to the principal and take a look at our new student.

I was in shock seeing such striking eyes.

Such long straight and silky hair.

That smile that gave my heart its last aloud beat.

She bowed back, making me turn back to the classroom.

“Okay…yo..you may introduce your..self.” Am I stuttering?

“Annyeonghaseyo, my name is Im Yoona. I am 17 years old and I transferred from Taiwan but I am of Korean blood. Please look after me.” Oh she’s from Taiwan?

“Uh welcome, Yoona. You can take a seat in front of Mr Oh.”  I gesture while Jongin happily points.

After class was over, all the student started to leave the classroom to interval. I noticed Yoona the only one left trying to pack up all her books and papers. There’s something about this girl that makes me want to get to know her. I shouldn’t get involve with a student of mine but I think I am under her charm. I rushed towards her after seeing her books fall out of her bag as she forgot to it.

“Th…thank you, sir.” I help her with her books.

“You’re welcome, uh how did you find your first day?”

“Oh I learnt a lot, thank you.” She seems to be the shy type as I notice she did not look at me at all in the eye but on the floor.

“That’s good then, if you need any help at all just ask. I will be more than happy to help.”

“Thank you…” She bows and rushes out.

Hm, I do have a doubt that she will come for me for help. It will take some time for her to adjust to Korea for sure since I was the same when I came here. I sat back on my seat and looked out the window. The garden view from here always looked nice. I was about to look away until I saw a familiar figure walking to a bench. It was that Yoona girl. I suddenly feel that certain feeling I felt when I heard my own heartbeat, beat 3 times. One beat per second.

 “One, two, three. In just three seconds, I fell in love with you.”

I suddenly ran to the art room where I usually do my paintings in my spare time. I knew that from that window I could get a better view of Yoona. As I arrived, the view never looked so good. I grabbed my art tools and got a new canvas out. I began mixing colours up and painting the scenery that captured me. After a while, I notice her walking off to her next class. I leaned back on my chair in exhaustion, things I do when I’m in love. I packed up and took a stroll to the garden, I didn’t have any classes to teach so I was free for an hour before I had to go back.

I stopped as I saw a certain yellow notebook under the bench. I tried to see if there was any indication to who the owner was. I managed to come across a name in Hangul.

“I~m Yu…u…neo? Na?...Oh god, I’m so stupid…” I face palm myself.

I should give it back to Yoona when I get the chance. I won’t deny that I am curious to what it contains. I went back to my classroom after picking it up and locked the door. My hands started to shake a bit as I reach for the front cover. I sighed in relief as I saw the writing was English. I know how to speak Korean, English and Taiwanese but I can’t read Hangul, that’s the only thing.

“Love never means having to say sorry?” Isn’t this from Love Story?

“Mother and Father, I hope you guys are enjoying yourself, I am still your little princess that jokes around in the house. I still enjoy the paintings you use to paint of me, the movies mum will pick out for us to watch on movie night, the fact that I will never forget you and continue to love you even if you aren’t by my side.” I felt my heart suddenly tighten hearing my own self saying those words.

“Just who are you, Yoona?”

*Bell Rings*

I sighed while making my way over to unlock the door. Just one more hour until I get to go home. The classroom was as usual same old same old. Students copying down my notes while I explain it. I give out some work to do while they do it in silence.
